I feel (more) secure in my house, etc. knowing we are doing the wire-tapping (as done in the past) in times of war.

The terrorists don't seem concerned about reasable cause or warrants, they just kill anyone they feel like. And what good are all my "rights" then?

The Constitution isn't just something that can be swept aside because you or Bu$h find it inconvienent. It is what makes seperates us from AQ to put it in terms that you would appreciate.. As I stated before, by ceding any of our rights it makes our country less of a Republic and more of a dictatorship. Now you might be comfortable with that concept, but I'm not.

The Constitution has to be protected at peace but especially when we are at war because that is when we are most apt to see it diminished.

You'd have to ask him or his Press Secretary. A lot of folks have but he isn't saying. A committee is forming as we speak. They'll find out and Bu$h will have to answer for it. He's the first president to admitt to an impeachable offense. It should get interesting.

Well then by all means just throw your rights away. However, I would like my rights fully intact. Perhaps you can write to the president and let him know you are fair game for anything.

What does olive skin have to with it -- is it a video phone?

Yes, Mr. President, I am fair game. If investigating me will help the war on terror, then so be it. (I feel much better now.)

I am assuming nothing. Some of the greatest Constitutional scholars of our time however are rather convinced that Bu$h has indeed overstepped his authority, broken the law and betrayed his oath of office to defend the Constitution.

If Bu$h respected the Constitution he would not be trampling all over the 4th Amendment.

No, it's not just about me. Like I stated before, I do not like the government eroding civil rights and injecting itself into our private lives. But a lot of you have the "I don't care, it's not affecting me attitude." I thought that also including my own fears would maybe make it more real.

If you accept illegal wiretapping and don't have a problem that it is a violation of your liberties granted by the Constitution, where exactly do you draw the line? While on the surface this may look like a good way to help combat terrorism, the acceptance of it by the citizens of the US is opening a door for other freedoms to be infringed upon. If illegal wiretapping is OK, why stop there? Would it also be OK if the government searched homes of "suspected" terrorists without a warrant? Would it still be OK if you were suspected for some reason and it was your home being searched?
