My Disney Dream would be, that we could all get along together on this forum, and not jump down each other's throat. Life is short, let's enjoy it with each other, and when those times get testy, like I know they will, let's try and remember the lesson we learned from Nate and His Family.

Yes Andy, our life on this earth is very short. This exchange between you and Chris is a testimony to the goodness that can be found in people. I have tears in my eyes. For Chris's memory, for your precious gift and for the lessons that this teaches us and I hope I can learn and live.

Thank you for sharing.

This story has touched me as well. I just spent the last hour and a half reading the entire story. I am blown away. I knew this was a special board when I found it, but never THIS special.
This story has put so many things in perspective for me, I thank you, so much - for sharing this today.

Thanks Andy! I'm printing it off now!

Once again - always the helpful man! I appreciate your helpfulness.

Karen.

Andy - Thanks ever so much for sharing your letter from Chris. It's nice to hear stories about kindness and sharing every now and again to balance out the many things that are wrong in this world.

Now that Nate is the official "Captain Verandah", I hereby nominate you for the title of "Admiral Verandah". Somehow Admiral Andy has a nice ring to it. :teeth:

Too bad we can't share this story with the rest of the world.

WOW, "Admiral Andy" what an honor!!! What a hoot!!!

I am sooooooooooooooo glad that a "memorable time" was had by all and GOD BLESS! I was worried while you were cruising that things would go perfectly and seems they did.

This story took my breath away. I've been following it from the begining and this really took my breath away.
Page Family-you are wonderful people! Thank you for sharing this expierence with us.
Admiral Andy-I second that! Can a moderator change your user name? You truely are a guardian angel.

I showed my DW what Towncrier had said, my DW went into her sewing kit(which hardly ever gets used), got out her measuring tape, put it around my head, and said, "It's official, your head won't fit through the front or back door anymore!!!" She also said, "You DIS people, are too much!!!" LOL!!!

Oh, Andy. Thank you. Chris, Thank you. God, I humbly thank Thee.

LOL!

Seriously, though, Andy, I believe it's not your head that has swelled, but your heart, with love and pride for your new DFamily, the Pages.

Sorry - I would have written directly, but am just now seeing this thread, and don't know the Pages' handle name.

Chris and Eric:

Just wanted you to know you are both blessed to have Nate. I believe you have been chosen to care for him. You are one of the fortunate people on this earth that get to see life from another perspective. (you get to be in the presence of an angel on earth. I understand seeing their soul in their eyes).

I know, as I have a daughter with Downs Syndrome. - would never have thought this was possible in a million years. My dh and I were both straight "A" students, and excelled in college too.

Sometimes God gives us things/challenges in life to help us grow and for us to help others as well. ( I supppose the irony for my DH and I is to have a child with a mental handicap).

My dd, Becky, will be 6 yrs old this December (On our upcoming cruise, If we still get to go!!!). Having her around has been a real reality check. When people say "Well, isn't she cute", I always wonder if they can tell if she has downs syndrome? (I'm sure they can, but I don't even see it anymore). Yes, she has shorter arms, and I have to roll up her sleeves, and her ears are small, and look like a pixie, but this is what makes her "cute".

God never gives you more than you can handle. I have tremendous respect for people such as yourself and Eric, who seem to have even more challenges than we have. What strong people you must be to be chosen for your role. There are not many people that can handle a handicap child.

I wish your family continued success/happiness and send out a special hope that so many others in this world get a chance to be effected by a handicap person, so that they too can experience life from another perspective. I know first hand. It is SOOOOO
different than you would imagine, and the "hidden" blessing are enormous.

p.s. Thank you Verandah Man for your
touching gift, that touched us all as well.

Dear Page Family,
We are so blessed to have read what you wrote and feel the love you have for your family.
Before I read your letter, I would probably be one of the one who would say something STUPID!!! Im ashamed that my brain sometimes doenst work right.
And I have no excuse.. I have a 21 year old son who has had 2 brain tumors and an anuersum.(spelling)
He looks normal, but everyday if is a challemge for his memory to functiion acturately. If i had an once of your courage I would be truly blessed. Thanks for sending this letter.

Maybe that life on C.C. will be possible someday. I know any time I am fortunate enough to be on C.C. I will think of the Page Family . Chris, most of us do understand. We understand because of the words and emotions that have come from your story and posts have touched our hearts so much.
Andy ( AVM ) to you also...Thank You !!

This is such a wonderful story..I literally have chills after reading all of this

Someone mentioned something about sharing this story..perhaps someone could contact a magazine like Woman's World...they often print feel good stories..altho I don't think any of the ones I'v read there hold a candle to this

I am sitting here in tears, tears of joy! Thank you Chris for sharing such a touching memory with all of us here.

Andy, you are my Hero!!!

God Bless you all!

MY DW just got off the phone with Chris Page a few minutes ago. Nate needs your prayers and pixie dust again. Nate has been running a fever of 102 since last night, has the bad cough back, and has lost two pounds, since his last check-up. Chris is quite concerend, as any parent would be. Nate has been at the same weight (12 pounds) for the past 4 years, and Chris stated, it's takes quite a while for Nate to put weight on as it is. I know we can count on our DIS Family!!!

Verandaman-
I am positive your last post has already started a prayer chain in the form of many of us Dis-ers.

Personally, little Nate has proven to me that angels are sent here in many forms to remind us "grown ups" of what is REALLY important.
