A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

IMG_2108.jpg

Brooklynn looks so cute sitting on the horse!

It's neat to see the horse getting shoed. The ranch looks so peaceful!

Great pictures. I want to explore Ft. Wilderness someday, maybe when we return to the WL. Trails End always gets rave reviews. I need to get there!

I love the pictures, especially the ones of the horses. :lovestruc It's so funny that I saw pictures of them because I was talking today about how badly I want to go horseback riding again. I know there's a place about 30 minutes or so away from me that does lessons, but I keep on forgetting to see if they do just plain old horseback riding for people that just need their fix.

Brooklynn looks really cute and happy to be on the pony! That is also an awesome pictures of the shoeing that you got. There's a show called "How It's Made," which once featured horseshoes, and showed the shoeing process. I know it doesn't hurt the horses, but yikes.

I hope your week starts to turn around. I can imagine how difficult it is to do parent/teacher nights. Everyone probably has thier own ideas on what you should be doing.
I am grateful for the teachers my kids have had. They always have done a good job in my opinion. DD is getting special testing at school right now to acess her weaknesses and strenghths. Its a good feeling that teachers care enough to seek ways to help a child and not let them fall to the side.
I'm sure you are a great teacher despite all the pressure. You are so kind and giving to us here on the DIS, you must be the same with your students.
Brooklynn looked so happy on the pretty, white pony. I never really looked at the Wilderness Campground area before. There are so many interesting little things to see. I must admit I'm not really a camping girl, I like the comforts of a hotel bed more than a sleeping bag. :rotfl: I would like to go to the Hoop Dee Doo BBQ someday.
I went to the Disney store tonight. I got DD her Minnie Mouse ears for Halloween. I wish she could still fit the princess costumes. They are so lovely this year. (They were 40% off) I did buy myself a t-shirt with Cinderella on it. I wish I worked there, it would be fun to see the new items as they come in. But then I wouldn't make any money, I would spend it all. Maybe not such a good idea.

MeMom

I'm really sorry not to have posted in such a long long time. I meant to post after you sent me a PM but just got carried away with everything else!

Work is busy (for a change) - I've been preparing for a conference of 160 people tomorrow! (I'm a PA / Secretary)

We had another two baby scans - one privately, the other through our hospital system, the NHS. All looking good on the baby front, but our minds have been purely focused on the baby for weeks now!

Worst of all, last weekend, we had a very very poorly cat on our hands. We totally adore our cats and were very sad when he got sick. At one point, we went to bed and thought we would wake up and he would be gone :sad1:
(although I made hubby get up at 1am, 3am and 5am to check on him! :rotfl: )

He started off bringing up a huge hair ball (they are indoor cats so very prone to hair balls) but then wouldn't stop being very very sick and violently vomiting. At first the vet thought there was an obstruction in his body somewhere, then they thought he'd torn his oseophagus (sorry can't spell that word!) but they actually settled on a verdict of.... wait for it... constipation! My little man couldn't poop! Apparantely in serious cases, it makes cats vomit and also go off their food (he wouldn't eat for over 48hrs). Thankfully he is doing so much better now and we are so relieved. Goodness knows how we would have coped if he had passed :sad1: it really doesn't bear thinking about.

We have a week off work next week to start decorating the baby's nursery! Its also our 1yr wedding anniversary to we are hoping to celebrate that with a meal at our favourite Chinese!

Right, I will do my best to read and catch up on everything - I think I have missed about 30 pages!!!

Much love, Julie xxx

I do, too. Nothing is horrible, there's just a lot going on. School is getting more ridiculous by the minute. Every time we turn around, they are throwing another program on us. They think this program or that program is going to be the next big idea to 'save' our kids. None of them have worked so far, so they just keep piling them on.

More power to you MeMom! I gave up teaching after 8 years because as much as I enjoyed the kids and sharing science with them, I had it with all the other garbage that you have to deal with. A few years ago my district latched onto a program called CRISS. At the end of the year, we were asked to come up with a new meaning for what it stood for. One of the VERY verteran teachers in the district came up with "Crap revisited is still sh**" :lmao:

I hope that is a good sign that some hearing can be restored. We will hopefully know in a couple of weeks.

Ears are such a tricky thing! I'm hoping all the best for him

As long as he gives in to you for a trip every once in a while, I guess you can forgive him. I know he has fun with those kids when he does go, though!

I don't know when he will agree to go again but he did have a good time with the boys and we did talk about an adults only trip in a couple years and to bring the boys back when they are older. I'm not sure I will be able to wait that long so I'm talking with a couple friends about the possibility of a girls only trip, maybe next December :santa:

When you get a chance, I have started a TR from my June trip, check it out when you have some time

Hi MeMom,

Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your trip report. You pictures are awesome :dance3: I really like how you bring your readers into the storyline. Can't wait to read more. Thanks for sharing with us

wow all that food looks so good! much better than the ramen noodles I just had for lunch. I have never been to Ft. Wilderness and really need to make it over there some day.
The picture of Brooklynn on the pony is so sweet - I can't believe how big some of those horses are! 1925 lbs!?

Hee Hee, I find this so funny :lmao: :lmao: That's why we hang out here with other like-minded individuals. I'm not racist, sexist or homophobic but I just don't get those non-Disney freaks!! (What's sad is I am married to one of them, should have found that out sooner I guess . In the words of my mother 5 minutes after the wedding "It's too late now". But I digress)

Too funny!

I married one too. The coolest thing is that during our last trip he did a complete 180! He took 12 pictures of the back of the door of our room at POP because Jimney Cricket was on the sign and he actually had a tear in his eye during Wishes!!! When he came back, he actually went online and BOUGHT 2 DISNEY SHIRTS!!!! AAAhhhh, I love that man but I love him even more when he is wearing his One Bad Duck Donald shirt!!!! So, there is still hope for your hubby! Good luck!

Hi MeMom! I haven't posted in a while, but I have been faithfully reading along! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this and for posting so many pictures. I actually teared up looking at the DTD pictures; I miss it so much and don't know when I'll be back...

Hey MeMom!!!

Just wanted to check in on you and say hi!!!!

Awww, Brooklyn looks so cute on the little horsey!!!!!

She may have been better off just sitting on it, anyway. If it had moved, she might have been a bit afraid. We'll try again in the next year, I'm sure.

this is so awesome! she looks really happy too. some kids would freak out.

i had a pony when i was little. his name was sugar. my grandpa bought him for me and kept him on his farm in bethpage. he died because he ate some poisonous berries. :sad1:

ray also had a pony that his grandfather gave him. can you say spoiled??? :rotfl:

erica and i saw some horses that were pulling a carriage when we were leaving hoop-dee-doo and it made me sad because they looked sad. but then i told myself that it's disney - they're probably VERY well taken care of. i'm glad to see pics of people loving on them!

pretty cool that you guys saw a horse being "shoed." i always wondered if it hurt them but i guess not - it's like a fingernail i guess.

I took some of my college courses with a girl from Bethpage. Bethpage is so small, she's bound to live within a stone's throw of where you rode your horse.

I think they are probably very well cared for.

That horse just stood very still the whole time we were there.

Brooklynn looks so cute sitting on the horse!

It's neat to see the horse getting shoed. The ranch looks so peaceful!

It's worth taking an hour or so to walk around Ft. Wilderness. It's a very nice campground, and kids almost always like to see horses.

Neat update Memom. I've never been to see the horses and stuff.

Maybe you can go next time and someone in your family could do a sketch of a real Disney horse. ;)

Great pictures. I want to explore Ft. Wilderness someday, maybe when we return to the WL. Trails End always gets rave reviews. I need to get there!

There's a path you can walk between the Lodge and the campground, but I have not done that....yet.

I love the pictures, especially the ones of the horses. :lovestruc It's so funny that I saw pictures of them because I was talking today about how badly I want to go horseback riding again. It was interesting to watch. I got several close-ups, but I didn't want to bore you guys with all of them.

I want to give the cabins a try someday - at least for a night or two. I think it would be fun to just have some down time there.

Congratulations on your good deals at the Disney Store. I've thought about getting a second job there, too, but then I think I might get burned out on Disney, and I don't want to ever do that!

YUM!!! That food looks so good!

Brooklynn is so brave (and cute of course!) sitting on the pony!

The food was good. Pretty simple. There was a soft serve ice cream machine that stayed busy, too!

I'm glad all is well with your cat.

You'll have such fun decorating a nursery! I'm glad all your scans are coming up good.

Good luck with your conference. Sounds like a big ordeal.

Programs, programs, programs. It takes no talent to teach any more.

I thought the paper said three weeks to see the ENT doctor, but in looking at the paperwork, I saw that it says six weeks. Maybe after all the trauma to the ear subsides, he may be able to regain more than they indicated. Hopefully, they gave us the worst case scenario and the reality will be better.

A girls only trip would be awesome!

I will check out the report when I finish here.

Welcome along, new friends. We enjoy sharing with our friends. This has just not been the best couple of weeks for me, so I haven't done justice to the report. I hope you will enjoy seeing a lot of Christmas pictures in a few weeks.

The picture of Brooklynn on the pony is so sweet - I can't believe how big some of those horses are! 1925 lbs!?

Ramen noodles - 17 cents a pack. Gotta love 'em when money is tight.
Some of those horses are massive!

Well, hey there neighbor!!! Centreville, VA here! I just love seeing other NoVa folks popping up around here. How are ya enjoying this gorgeous October weather???:thumbsup2

Our leaves are falling off the trees before they're getting pretty here. Lots of brown everywhere. I'd love to see the beauty of the Appalachian Mt. trees right now.

Maybe you guys can meet someday.

Aww! Brooklyn on the pony.

She enjoyed seeing them all.

Hi MeMom! I haven't posted in a while, but I have been faithfully reading along! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this and for posting so many pictures. I actually teared up looking at the DTD pictures; I miss it so much and don't know when I'll be back...

I tear up, too, but it's usually when I get the credit card bill from the shopping! :scared1:

Brooklynn is so cute on the pony. :cutie:

Thanks. We think she's kinda cute sometimes. :)

Hey MeMom!!!

Just wanted to check in on you and say hi!!!!

Hi back atcha! Conferences are done. Now it's on to the next new thing. Make that things. We just got two new directives tonight. It's so fun to open the e-mail or go to the box. Always some really wonderful project waiting for us.

Jill called after church last night and said Brooklynn had been learning the books of the New Testament in her class, so she was singing it softly as she was coloring.
You probably know this song, but maybe not this version.

Her version went something like this:
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
Acts and First Peter Pan,
Captain Hook and Wendy!

PanPan is the only Peter she knows, so naturally she thought of Captain Hook and Wendy.

I told Jill to video it. She'll be sorry later on if she doesn't.

Good night, all.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: That is just the laugh that I needed -- I love how children's minds work -- Peter just has to be Peter Pan!!!

Absolutely way too cute for words!! :lmao: I just marvel at the way little one's minds work. I have tons of memories of my girls and their thoughts on life!
