A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Just wondering if Brooklyn rode POTC? pirate: My son (5) has been begging me to take him on it but I also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter princess: who I worry would be too scared on it. I've ridden the ride at Disneyland in CA but never in FL which we are tentatively planning a trip there in either March or May 2009.

Also wanted to say that I really love your trip reports and congrats on the new grandbaby to come.

Brooklynn has ridden every ride at Disney that she can (including Barnstormer which she just got to ride this summer). She only had a problem with Barnstormer but it has a height restriction and is very wild.

Hi Memom.

Finally made it back to your report. This has been some week for our family. Birthday party for Kerri (she's 14 now) on Saturday and then the windstorm on Sunday and no electric until 4:30 this morning. Went to the grocery after work tonight as we lost most of our stuff from the fridge. Now, I can have time to DIS :thumbsup2

I enjoyed your pics of the Ice Show. I was considering getting tickets for the girls and me, but they were a little more than I wanted to spend. So, now I feel almost like I've seen it after looking at your pictures. Thanks for sharing. Brooklynn was so cute. She seem completely enthralled with the whole thing.

I loved the pics of Nashville too. I love Ryman Theater. I've never been inside, but I've seen it from the outside. I've also seen it on the Bill Gaither videos. He talks about going there to see southern gospel quartets when he was a young boy. That's my favorite kind of music. In fact I've been 2 Nashville twice for the Southern Gospel Quartet Conventions, many many years ago. They are now held in Louisville. Anyway, it was fun seeing Nashville again.

Also, I enjoyed all your MK pics. :woohoo:

After the Jungle Cruise, Brooklynn spotted something she loves - the castle show.

I think the Princess dresses are just beautiful! Every time I see them twirling around dancing, I just think it is such a pretty sight.

And then it was time to hit one of Jill's very favorite places - Main Street Bakery.

That's all the time I have for this morning. I will do more responses tonight. Everyone have a good Friday and a fun weekend ahead!

Man I'm hungry!

You know we have never watched the Castle Show or been in the bakery.

We will need to add those to the list.

Oh my god - how I have NEVER been into the Main Street Bakery??????????

That looks DELISH! Definitely on our list for Nov.

I've never seen the Castle show either? I take it its quite early on in the day? We have probably ran off to the rides by the point...

Great update as always! xxx

I love the castle show pictures! Actually, i love all the pictures!! I've only been in Main Street Bakery ONCE because in all the times i've been to disney, I always thought the confectionary was what everyone was referring to! lol! Now I know better!!

I can't wait to be back to my happy place I really need it even though I was just there!! Its only going to be for a few days, but at least I have December to look forward to!

I love how Michaelsully came along to the castle show.

Those bakery photos made me drool!!!! My breakfast now PALES in comparison to any of those delicious treats!!!! I am SO hungry now for ANYTHING from that bakery!!! Oh how wonderful it smells in there too---I could almost smell it through your pictures!!! ;o)

Hmmm....now I'm hungry! Those bakery pictures are great! Adding that to the list too! My "must see" list keeps getting longer and longer!

Have a great weekend!

yum....

what? no home made ice cream sandwich? :sad2:

looks like someone blocking Brooklynn's view of the show the way she is leaning to the right in the stroller pic. I have yet to see that show

great update and pics.

I have to work tonight and tomorrow, so I'll have to catch up tomorrow night. :sad1: Brooklynn sure does love Michealsully. What was wrong with Minnie's eyes in the one pic? The bakery looks to yummy. The Mickey milk is cute, Ive never seen one. Have a great weekend. :flower3:

Lurker coming out of the closet. Actually I subscribed before you left for your trip and I've been reading along ever since and enjoying every minute of it. I LOVE looking at all your pictures. We only make it once a year so it helps me get through those long months in between trips. I wanted to plan an October trip this year because I have some time off work, but it's just too expensive to fly and too far to drive.

We drive through Nashville two or three times a year on our way to visit my husband's family in Atlanta. For a while we had affectionately named it the "Traffic Jam City". Every trip we would be stuck in major construction traffic for close to an hour, sometimes more. It seems to have settled down the last couple years. One year we drove through on Christmas Day and thought no way would there be traffic, but GUESS WHAT?! We were wrong - there was a football game downtown. Crazy! Someday we'll have to stop and visit Nashville, but we're always in such a hurry to make it all the way to Atlanta.

I'm looking forward to reading about more of your trip. We've missed the Jungle Cruise the past couple times. I don't think my youngest remembers it much so we'll have to make sure we see it next time. I love the castle shows too, but I wish they could magically give us a little AC while we watch them in the heat of a summer afternoon. Those mister fans just don't do the trick.

The ultrasound picture is awesome! Things definitely have changed a lot in the past ten years. My girls are about the same age difference that Brooklyn and the baby will be. Abby, my oldest, told everyone that she was having a sister and would get mad if anyone dared say that it might be a brother. We didn't find out beforehand. She ended up being right. Her names for the baby were either Mowgli, Junior Asparagus, or Sophie. You can tell what she was watching. Sophie came from a book we had to read to her over and over and over. Wisely, we chose to go with Sophie since we all liked that one.

We didn't make it to Disney until they were four and almost seven, but we've been hooked ever since! Actually I'm obsessed! Sounds like there might be a few others out there like myself.

Thanks for sharing. I'm now officially along for the ride!

Alice

Another great update Memom!!!!!! I love that your put so many pictures in your reports. It makes it seem as if we are there. Looking forward to more.

Love the Castle Show pictures and the Bakery. Oh My!! I ate breakfast there twice on this trip. I took each of the girls there separately for breakfast and some one-on-one mom and daughter time. Man they have good food! Thanks for the picture reminders. Wish I had something there right now for a late night snack. :lmao:

Cathy

Its the BACK SIDE OF WATER!!!! :cool1: :lmao:

Great pictures MeMom!! Small world is one of my very favorites!! Thumbs up to Brooklynn!!! :thumbsup2

You are correct! I am sorry to say that there is no prize for knowing the correct answer, however.

Great Small World pics! All I have are a bunch of blurry pictures! :rotfl:
I  your narration of the Jungle Cruise!

This new camera did a pretty good job in Small World. I still have a lot of work to do on a few of the dark rides, though.

Well I knew the lion was fake but now you have done ruined two rides. ;)

I'm sorry, but the truth about the safari animals had to come out sooner or later!

MeMom what did you mean when you said you don't see Nicole's green light? Is there a way to see if someone is on? I guess its the newbie in me.

It's supposed to be that the green light is on when you are logged in, I think, but it may just be when you have been recently active, because when mama2girls answered you, she said my light wasn't on. However, although I was not literally on, I was still logged in, so I would have thought my light would have remained on, so that puzzles me.

Since I see that MeMom isn't on right now I hope you dont mind if I answer for her...:) There is a little dot under your avatar pic to the left of your posts. If you are signed in then it lights up green. If you are off then it is gray. Just a little way for us to "spy" on ya...J/K!:rotfl: Right now, I can see that you are on! HI!!!:wave2:

I don't know why I was blue, because I never logged out. I wonder if after your last click on anything, it turns blue after a certain time even if you are still logged in. Oh well, it's really no big thing. Thanks for answering, though, and helping out.

Brooklynn did fine on Pirates. Up until this summer, she hadn't been scared on any ride. When she was really small, she was a bit unsure of the Carrousel horses.

The first thing she has shown fear on was Barnstormer. Jill and John wanted so much for her to be tall enough to ride it, and she was really not all the way up to the line, but the CM felt it was right at it, so she was waved in. I sat in the front of her and Jill to take pictures, and what followed was not a pretty sight. She never cried, but her face turned from 'this is just another ride' to 'what's going on?' to 'what are you people subjecting me to?' We have a sequence of pictures that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. Laugh, because she made it through and lived to tell about it. Cry, because during that one minute that ride lasts (if that long), she was as frightened as I have ever seen her, and I never want to see that fear again.

When we get to that ride in the report, I'll let Jill decide if she wants to put those pictures up for you guys to see. They break my heart and make me laugh all at once.

It'll be a long time before she goes on Barnstormer again. I think it's so odd that she was big enough to go on that, yet she couldn't sit on Soarin', which is so much milder.

Hi MeMom and family :wave2:

I finally found my way over to your TR and am now caught up. Thanks for all the great pics and fun commentary! I appreciate the pics from Jungle Cruise, I have fond memories of this ride when I was little. I couldn't talk my boys into riding it with me this summer :sad1: , so sad!

They did however LOVE small world. Can I walk down memory lane a bit? I went on small world with my grandpa when I was little. Lots of people had thrown money into the water (my memory was that there was less this year then back then but that could be a fading memory too) Grandpa was always looking for and finding money on the ground when he walked. I clearly remember him telling me that he would clean the ride for free if they would let him keep all the change. I shared this with my family this summer and I am the only one who remembers this comment, very Grandpa-style!

Thanks for sharing all your fun, I'm off to work on your first TR while I wait for the next installment of this one!

Glad to have you here, and you can walk down Memory Lane with us as often as you'd like.

I'm sure that compared to all the many other awesome rides at Disney, Jungle Cruise seems pretty lame to your boys.

If you get through Baby and the Tramp without thinking we're psychos, we'll be happy to have you stick around with us here! :)

I am behind... we had the IKE effect up our way.... in OH no power after horrible horrible hurricane type winds. Luckily my house is standing...but oh the trees. Thanks for bringing some Disney cheer!

I'm sorry to hear you had no power. TCKK had the same problem. I hope everyone is back to semi-normal.

Brooklynn has ridden every ride at Disney that she can (including Barnstormer which she just got to ride this summer). She only had a problem with Barnstormer but it has a height restriction and is very wild.

I have flashbacks about that sweet little face buried in your lap.

Hi Memom.

I love gospel music, too! I didn't know anyone but me even listened to gospel quartets anymore, but, I love it! I've watched many of the Gaither shows, and I am so uplifted my the singing.

Happy Birthday to Kerri! :bday: I hope you were able to have a nice day in spite of the storms and the damage.

I think I need a twirly princess dress! I wonder where I could wear it...

Mmmmm, Main Street Bakery -- so many choices there!!!

I think I probably feel just as in awe of the princesses and their pretty dresses as all of the five year old girls that are sitting there watching with me.

I know, that's one drawback of going in there - not being able to decide what to buy. So, I spend too much money buying two or three different things.

Man I'm hungry!

You know we have never watched the Castle Show or been in the bakery.

We will need to add those to the list.

Both of those need to be put on your summer 2009 list, for sure. Main Street Bakery is a must-do for us.

Oh my god - how I have NEVER been into the Main Street Bakery??????????

That looks DELISH! Definitely on our list for Nov.

I've never seen the Castle show either? I take it its quite early on in the day? We have probably ran off to the rides by the point...

Great update as always! xxx

The castle show plays several times a day, so hopefully you can see it.

I love the castle show pictures! Actually, i love all the pictures!! I've only been in Main Street Bakery ONCE because in all the times i've been to disney, I always thought the confectionary was what everyone was referring to! lol! Now I know better!!

That's a feeling we have quite often!

Love the pics of the castle show! We didn't catch it this year at all!

I think it's cute, and I especially like it if it happens to be playing when we first get to Magic Kingdom any time we're coming later in the day, not at rope drop. It's nice to be walking down Main Street and hearing that welcoming us.

I love how Michaelsully came along to the castle show.

Michaelsulley went many places with us for the rest of the trip!

Those bakery photos made me drool!!!! My breakfast now PALES in comparison to any of those delicious treats!!!! I am SO hungry now for ANYTHING from that bakery!!! Oh how wonderful it smells in there too---I could almost smell it through your pictures!!! ;o)

That brownie does look pretty enticing!

Hmmm....now I'm hungry! Those bakery pictures are great! Adding that to the list too! My "must see" list keeps getting longer and longer!

Have a great weekend!

Keep adding to list.
Keep adding days to trip to be able to do everything on list.

yum....

looks like someone blocking Brooklynn's view of the show the way she is leaning to the right in the stroller pic. I have yet to see that show

great update and pics.

She appears to be looking around someone. Maybe you can see the show in October or December or whatever month your next trip after that is planned.

:flower3:

I don't know about Minnie's eye. I went back and looked at it. Maybe she got a speck of dust in it! ;)

Lurker coming out of the closet. Actually I subscribed before you left for your trip and I've been reading along ever since and enjoying every minute of it. I LOVE looking at all your pictures. Alice

We're very glad you became "official"!

I love the baby names. I think Junior Asparagus was rather cute!

I know what you mean about prices. I'm not feeling good at all about a March trip.

Interstate construction was horrible for a while, but I do think it has calmed down some. I try not to frequent interstates. They make me nervous.

I think you have come to the right place to find the obsessed.

Another great update Memom!!!!!! I love that your put so many pictures in your reports. It makes it seem as if we are there. Looking forward to more.

Good, 'cuz that's what I want!

:lmao:

Cathy

That was good. I love having Jill all to myself, so I know how special that was for you.

Yeah, a late night brownie does sound good, doesn't it?

Loving your pictures as always :) I like the one where Brooklynn is propping up Michaelsully at the bakery! It was funny because when Weird and I went to the Disney store two weeks ago, we saw the big Sully that Brooklynn has at home, and I automatically said, "Heyy! Brooklynn!" Haha, I talk about you guys and other DIS people like I know you personally!

Those Main Street Bakery pictures look yummy! This might be a silly question, but do they sell all those things throughout the day? I don't really enjoy sweet things early in the morning, but they look like they would make a great mid-afternoon snack!

Southern Gospel has always been my favorite. In fact, I even sang in a quartet at my church when I was younger. We used to go to concerts with the different groups when I was a kid. The Cathedrals were probably my all-time favorite. Have you heard of Jim Hill. He's the guy who wrote "What a Day That Will Be" and sang with I believe the Stamps quartet. He lives in Middletown and is a friend of my husband's family. He's on the Gaither Shows. Anyway, as you can see, this is my favorite kind of music. Glad to hear you like it too and you're in a good place for it there in Nashville.

Actually Kerri's birthday was Saturday before the storm hit and she got to do just what she wanted. She had a friend stay overnight and we took her to Spaghetti Warehouse (her choice) for lunch and then she got to go to a local mall and shop her heart out. I'd say it was the perfect day for her!! I'll let her know you wished her a Happy B-day!. Thanks

Cathy
