A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

I read what you wrote about how Brooklynn felt about Barnstormer. Poor girl. It's gotta stink when you think that she might enjoy a ride but ends up being terrified. My mom went through that with my little sister and Splash Mountain, but she was about seven. My brother and I were very wisely not lifting our arms and squealing every time we went down even the smallest drop, like we normally do, and Kailyn was fine through part of it, but she was DONE after that drop in the dark. After that, and for a few trips after, she only rode the Great Movie Ride, Buzz Lightyear, and maybe Star Tours. This past April she rode pretty much anything. :thumbsup2

I love your Main Street Bakery pictures! If we go back, that is a must-do for me, and so is Earl of Sandwich. ;)

We asked Brooklynn if she wanted to ride Barnstormer when we are there. she said yes and then I called it the airplane rollercoaster and she said "no". Pretty sure she won't be stepping foot near that ride for a while, but she did it once and that is good enough for me!

2 weeks from this very moment we will be in a Southwest airplane somewhere above Punkin and all our Georgia friends! Memom tried to hang up on me this morning because I was talking about it. She had the speakerphone on though so it didn't work.

:rotfl: poor memom. good thing she has a trip coming up too! i will be waving at you guys as you go over!!! :yay:

Loving your pictures as always :) I like the one where Brooklynn is propping up Michaelsully at the bakery! It was funny because when Weird and I went to the Disney store two weeks ago, we saw the big Sully that Brooklynn has at home, and I automatically said, "Heyy! Brooklynn!" Haha, I talk about you guys and other DIS people like I know you personally!
Those Main Street Bakery pictures look yummy! This might be a silly question, but do they sell all those things throughout the day? I don't really enjoy sweet things early in the morning, but they look like they would make a great mid-afternoon snack!

We do the same thing - talk about our Dis pals when we're out like we know them personally. It's all good!

I guess the bakery is the same all day. Any time we've ever been in there, they've had plenty of good choices.

Southern Gospel has always been my favorite. In fact, I even sang in a quartet at my church when I was younger. We used to go to concerts with the different groups when I was a kid. The Cathedrals were probably my all-time favorite. Have you heard of Jim Hill. He's the guy who wrote "What a Day That Will Be" and sang with I believe the Stamps quartet. He lives in Middletown and is a friend of my husband's family. He's on the Gaither Shows. Anyway, as you can see, this is my favorite kind of music. Glad to hear you like it too and you're in a good place for it there in Nashville.

Actually Kerri's birthday was Saturday before the storm hit and she got to do just what she wanted. She had a friend stay overnight and we took her to Spaghetti Warehouse (her choice) for lunch and then she got to go to a local mall and shop her heart out. I'd say it was the perfect day for her!! I'll let her know you wished her a Happy B-day!. Thanks

Cathy

I usually listen to my gospel music in the mornings on the way to school to get me in a good frame of mind, and then I listen to my Disney music on the way home as an escape from the crazy day. I'll watch for Jim Hill the next time I watch a Gaither show.

A shop-a-thon is a very good birthday present! :)

I hope we haven't ruined her for other rides. She didn't have any problems with anything else after that, so I think we're okay, but I think it'll be a long time before she's willing to try Barnstormer again!

:goodvibes oh my my my Main Street Bakery? :cloud9:

I absolutly love Main Street Bakery. I can just imagine the wonderful smells.:cloud9:

That is the most delicious welcome as you walk down Main Street, isn't it?

We do the same thing -
"That's my Main Street Bakery.
"That's my Pop Century"
"They're riding my Soarin'"

2 weeks from this very moment we will be in a Southwest airplane somewhere above Punkin and all our Georgia friends! Memom tried to hang up on me this morning because I was talking about it. She had the speakerphone on though so it didn't work.

That is a lie!

Trent was holding the phone, so I told him to hang up on you!

You'll still take pics right? Even though MeMom isnt going?

She's getting the video camera ready to go this time, so I'm looking forward to that.

I will still have pictures. i will not have as many pictures or as detailed pictures as MeMom's though, but I will do my best.

What she means is she won't run into trashcans while taking pictures.
She also will not get down on her knees to get a low shot, and there will not be fifty-seven pictures of palm trees.

:rotfl: poor memom. good thing she has a trip coming up too! i will be waving at you guys as you go over!!! :yay:

It is a good thing, because I don't know how much of her braggy braggy "I'm going to Disney World!!!" stuff I could take if we didn't have the Thanksgiving trip coming up! :rotfl:

Look for me waving also.

Oh, she'll be waving at everybody everywhere, be assured. She is so excited, and rightly so - she'll be at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party very soon! Brooklynn was too little to get into it last year, but this year she will enjoy it so much.

Memom I have finally caught up , this is a terrific TR.

Thank you. We're glad you're on board. More pictures coming up.

With our tummies full of Main Street 'Bakerylicious' goodies, we walked on.

There was entertainment on the street.

I like these old-style classic Disney touches that have managed to hang on. I hope they make it through the next round of cuts Disney is making, because it seems they are cutting more and more of the little things.

IMG_1653.jpg

I hope they never veer too far from Walt Disney's master plan.

IMG_1654.jpg

I liked seeing the empty tables.

Red, white, and blue.

Sulley got the chance to rest for a minute while Mommy and Brooklynn took a restroom break.

A water fountain for Brooklynn.

It was starting to get crowded,

IMG_1659.jpg

so we decided to do some resort hopping.

Did you notice SuperDad and Mom checking out the park map? I just think that's cute. It could mean this is their first trip. If so, I hope they had a great time!

Crowd pictures as we headed to the bus.

IMG_1660.jpg

Many were going in - few were going out.

IMG_1661.jpg

IMG_1662.jpg

This was one of those rides where it was maybe us and one or two other families on the whole bus.

IMG_1663.jpg

Can you guess which resort we hopped to?

Once again great pictures of MK, it was what I needed to get me going this morning. I am going slow this morning, after watching football on TV late last night, and my dh has to usher at the 9:00 service at church today.

I really loved the picture of Brooklynn and the fountain, she loves water. I agree with you Disney is slowly taking away the old-style classic Disney touches that makes Disney different from other parks.

Got to start getting dress, have a great day.

OR they could be like my DH and I as we walked into MK for the first time. I had spent so much time on Disboards :surfweb: , I could have practically navigated without a map. On the other hand, DH hadn't bothered to learn a thing before we arrived. As we walked down main street for the first time, I was filling him in on what the plan for the day was. :lmao:

Luckily, he pretty much trusted my research and went along with what I said was the best plan.

i actually did notice that before i even read the next sentence where you mentioned them. only i thought.....i can't imagine going to magic kingdom and having to look at a map to know where i'm going. but that's just because i'm a disney freak. i hope they had a good time, too. :goodvibes

ray and i had a couple of these last trip. when we did i'd give my flat companions their own seat. :rotfl:

does it start with an A and end with an E and rhyme with "cannibal sing some dodge"????

Every time I see that MeMom has posted another update, my heart just starts to beat harder! Seeing your pics just gets me so excited for our trip next year. My husband is deploying to Iraq in 4 days:sad1: so hopefully planning our August '09 trip will help me and my DD10 and DD7 keep occupied! Thanks so much for your wonderful and detailed TR!

Ahhh....empty tables! That makes me want to sit down and people watch! (I just realized...I'm turning into my mother! :lmao: )

On a side note, I noticed some of you say that you listen to Gaither music! I teach in their little home town! They have a really cool store there called Gaither Family Resources...great shopping and yummy food!

Definitely! I actually never enjoyed Main Street much so I'm excited to do that the next I go. I remember growing up thinking that the trolley ride along with all the other modes of Main Street transportation required a separate fee! I think my parents told me that? I'm not sure why I believed that that was true. I only recently found out that it's not so I hope they're all still there so I can catch a ride myself!

That makes me sad, too. I never want my beloved Disney to be just another park.

That's what our guys do. We just point them in the right direction, and they come along.

cute!

We get maps to take home for souvenirs, for scrapbooking purposes, and to give to others, so that's why I thought that picture was just sweet. I guess we all were at that point long ago....before we became freaks!

You should be on a Disney game show, because you could be right with your resort guess. That's amazing!

Apparantly I have not had enough coffee this morning because this took me longer to get than it should have! :rotfl:

Dawn's just a crazy woman. Get used to it. I think that's why we like her so much, 'cause she's a little nuts - like us.

if i didnt know where i was going id rather walk around and pretend i do cause not that many people carry maps around anymore. :rotfl: Good thing i do know where im going :thumbsup2

That's too funny!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you as you get ready to be separated. Please come back and tell us about your day when he leaves and let us help you through your tears. I'm glad our pictures will bring you some happiness and give you much to look forward to when he gets back.

When in August '09 are you going? We will be there the first few days of August. I think we leave to come home on the 3rd.

Ahhh....empty tables! That makes me want to sit down and people watch! (I just realized...I'm turning into my mother! :lmao: )

People watching. Love it. You can just about see it all in Disney World.

I like all gospel music - the old time country church kind and the contemporary. It just keeps me grounded. We can easily get caught up in the things of this world, but this is really not where our focus should be, and the music reminds me of that in so many ways. I don't even know what official religion the Gaither people are, but I really like their shows.

great update and pics.

Aww, Scott, you always say that!

Definitely! I actually never enjoyed Main Street much so I'm excited to do that the next I go. I'm not sure why I believed that that was true. I only recently found out that it's not so I hope they're all still there so I can catch a ride myself!

I hope you do get to see the Dapper Dans and the piano players and see the beautiful horses pulling the trolleys.

On a side note:
Have you guys been seeing Nashville on the news? We have a gas crisis here with 85% of our stations out of gas at any given time. Most stations are empty with bags over all the nozzles, and if you're lucky enough to find one with gas, you have to wait in a line that is backed down the road. Gas station workers were out directing traffic last night when we went to fill up. It's supposed to ease up by the end of the week, but for now, it's not good. There are many people running out of gas, can't make it to work, etc.

Our two closest stations were out. When I called last night to see if they were running again, one said not until Monday and the other said, yes, they were open. Trent and I got in the cars right away and went and got in the massive lines. Drew was coming in as I was pulling out, and he asked where we were going. I told him we were headed to Shell to get gas, and he said, "Good luck with that. They're all the way down the road."

Luckily, everyone was being kind and patient. We were just all wedged in as tight as we could be with windows open, and everyone was having pleasant conversations, so that was good. There have been some bad situations in Nashville where people started arguing and even fighting because they were getting 'skipped', frustrated, etc.

Trent said the Nashville gas story was on CNN last night.
