A stay in Paris

If you have stayed in Paris, could you recommend a hotel for us? Looking for 2 nights stay, one day in Paris as we leave in the morning on second day. I'm totally confused of where to look and what neighborhoods are friendly and safe etc, near metro/RER to access city center. We would like it to be budget friendly.

We'll spending 5 nights at DLP and moving to Paris for 2 night stay in the very evening.

Any suggestions or recommendations are very appreciated.

I hesitate to give a recommendation as not everyone's taste is the same but I stayed in the Hotel Cluny Sorbonne a couple of years back and as long as you are not looking for a modern, chain hotel this one has a lot going for it. The rooms are old-fashioned and tiny but the location could not be better and it represents excellent value. The hotel is right in the middle of the Latin Quarter which has a lovely, safe feel about it, about 50 m from Place de la Sorbonne and in front of the Sorbonne itself. It is within walking distance of many tourist destinations and parks and has metro stations and restaurants nearby.

If you like the look of the area but want a bigger, plusher hotel there are plenty of other hotels nearby.

I've asked around a bit and the following hotels get good mentions. Like the one suggested by Cherry they are all well situated and are therefore all in safe areas where you wouldn't feel uneasy about being on your own

Don't forget to check the rates also for them on sites like Expedia, Agoda or Booking.com as they can often be cheaper than the hotel rate.
