All I can say is pixie dust... We are currently planning a Dec 2005 trip for extended family... The other day I got "dinged" by SWA and could get a flight form ALB to MCO, non - stop, April 5th - 9th... I booked it!!! DD 3.5 and I are headed to The World!!! (DH teaches at a different school and will be headed to NYC for 4 days while we are gone) I managed to get a room at POP with the AAA discount... I think DD and I will just do the Magic Kingdom for 3 days as she is the princess of our house! We can ride IASW as amny times as she wants!

Now I need confidence! I have never taken a trip alone with her! This is the plan

Drive to Park and Fly to drop off car
Shuttle to airport
She is under 5 so we can preboard with her carseat
Non stop flight so no need to change plans
Town car picks us up at MCO and brings us to POP
reverse on the way home!

My only challange will be to pack lightly so all we carry is 1 bag for clothes, a back pack for a carryon and the car seat!

I can do this, right?!!! :jumping1:

I think it could be a fun Mommy - Daughter trip!

You can SO do this. DD7 and I have flown out of ALB to WDW the past 2 years and are going again next month - staying at Pop and everything. lol

We have such a blast. The flight isn't too long since SW does nonstops, so just a book or toy or two will do it. You won't need more than the two of you can handle suitcase-wise for just a few days - just know that Value resorts do NOT have hair dryers in the rooms, so unless your hair is good to go drying on its own, make sure you bring one.

Don't stress about seeing everything and stick with your daughter's stamina levels and you'll have a blast! :goodvibes

Thanks!!! Good toknow about the hair dryer... I usually just use one for my bangs, but I can probably get away with out it! :upsidedow

I leave today for my first trip to the world with my dd6, I was nervouse about it being just me and her. We are also doing the park sleep fly option, but we will have a layover in dallas. We are staying at the pop I called the pop about the hairdryers they said to metion at the dest and they can get me one complmenitry. We are staying at the world for five days! We cant wait. :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

DS8 and I (Daxx's wife) are taking a mother/son trip in May! It'll be our first trip away from Daxx but we're excited. Poor Daxx has major conferences and can't get out of work. I know DS & I will have a great time! I always wanted to do a WDW trip w/just DS and myself ... now my wish has come true!

I love the support! :jumping1: Cool about the hair dryer!!! That is one less thing I have to worry about! :worship:

You will love this trip!!!! It's so easy to fly this way, with a direct flight - gave me so much confidence the first time I did it. And you'll have a great time with no limits on the Magic Kingdom - you can visit Ariel and see Belle do storytelling, visit the Wishing Well next to the castle, see all the shows, look for PUSH in Tomorrowland, and so much more. Have a fabulous time!!!!!

To lighten your load, you MAY consider skipping the carseat. I don't know who you've booked with but FL Tours and Tiffany Towncar (I think) provide complimentary carseats... and others provide upon request at time of booking for nominal fees... it would be that much less to carry... unless you are really concerned she have it for the plane trip, that is.

I often pack black, pink or gray shorts (for our 8 day trip, I'll pack 3 pr each) -- and mix-match the tops. That helps in the packing dept. You can do it and it will be great if we can catch up with each other.

You will have a blast, as you can tell by my tag I love my Mom & Me trips. I have been taking my dd's 1 at a time or both since they were 2. Take or rent a stroller and take it slow. Make a couple ps's for late lunches at a sit down place, the only drawback of 1-1 trips is counter serve, IMHO!! We do cereal/bagels in the room for breakfast, our "big" meal is a late lunch and either sandwiches in the room or counter serve dinners. If you do character meals you can save some standing in line, our favs are late breakfast or lunch.

Don't rule out the other parks, my dd LOVED MGM at that age for playhouse disney, lil mermaid and the easy access to characters. AK has some wonderful things for kids like camp minnie mickey, the FOTLK *my girls favorite show in all of WDW** and the petting zoo etc.

In the evenings we often go to Epcot, dd's hang in the stroller and we both enjoy the leisurly pace, live entertainment (especially the acrobats in China and the dancing fountain) and ....somtimes... I get a "beverage" if you know what I mean!

Have a great time and if you have specific questions I probably have taken over 20 trips alone with 1 or more dd's.

Our 1st trip together DS :earsboy: was 3 1/2 @ DL.
We had the best time no problems.
Than he was to little for some of the rides.
The only plan of yours I would change would be to leave the car @ home if at all possiable.
Not all the park & rides are the best for over night parking. :scared1:
Have a great time. :jumping1:
We have to wait till October.

This Aug DS13 & I leave for our first mother/son WDW vacation! and its our 1st TWO week vacation ever! Woohoo :cool1:

I see a pattern starting - planning a wk at WDW Aug 06 (just DS & myself) before DH joins us for a wk on the Disney Magic

Life is Good! :Pinkbounc

My DD7 and I did a "mommy and me" trip last august. I have another planned this august. It is a blast! Very relaxed, no hurry. Just be sure to schedule alot of down time, every day. Lots of sleep. Enjoy!

I see a pattern too! I'm really beginning to like it! :cool1:
