A savannah view, tons of Pixie Dust and 2 fat folks

Your roses were beautiful , amazed at the gold leaf and the lil mickey jewels!

I missed MK last year, long story and only made a quick trip there to pick up some ears with embroidered names on them for gifts in 2006 so I was surprised to find out that Aladden and Woody the newer movie charactors are now there. My last visits back in the 90's the movie charactors were only over at DHS(MGM) back then. MK had the classic ones Mickey, Minnie, Pluto etc. Nor sure how I feel about the additon of the more recent ones, a little sad I think, I like the "old" MK.

I had a good laugh over your elevator expierence, I could totally see something like that happening to me.

Glad you had such a wonderful time at V&A, it is too bad you did not get to see HallowWishes or get any fast passes. I enjoyed your review of V & A it is the first one I have read since it is not something DH and I would ever do, I no longer drink because of a kidney problem and DH likes his food plain, no sauces or dressings, he prefers nothing to touch on the plate, and does not eat anything that is white. Some people have children who are picky eaters, I have DH :rotfl:

Wow nothing white that is picky...I'd go nuts w/o white gravy on my fried steak and mashed potatoes.
Can not wait to read more!
Welcome

Hello

Great TR and subscribing! :surfweb:

Enjoying all the details of V/A Anniversary dinner. How lovely!

Thanks for coming over hope to add more soon.

Wednesday starts early on our balcony as it did yesterday. As usual the animals make it impossible for me to get around in a timely manner, but I finally pulled myself away and we head out to the AK.

We arrive at AK at about 9:45am and the line for bag search was crowded, however it moved much quicker then I had expected. As soon as we get in the park we head towards Africa to get on an early safari. We really wanted to get to the safari early before the animals got too hot and hid. As we are walking along we are enjoying the beauty of the park and are taking a lot of pics. We have photo pass take the obligatory pic in front of the Tree of Life. We ran into a cute character whom I don’t know but since nobody was in line both Mark and I got our pics taken with her.
StauskesdoAK102.jpg

Find another character w/o a line and find out it’s Flick from A Bugs Life. Again no line so we get our pic w/ him.
StauskesdoAK103.jpg

Finally make it back to the safari and the sign says it’s only a 20 min. We get in line and are on the ride in about 10 minutes instead of the predicted 20. We really enjoyed the educational facts that the driver presented even if he had some corney lines. I did feel though that it was just a ride through a glorified zoo. I would ride it again only if I didn’t have to wait much more then 15 min.

Lunch was at Tamu Tamu 2 cheeseburgers chips, water, Choc. Shake….terrible, we chose this place just because Mark was hungry and wanted to eat now. He had no patience for me to locate something on the map that I had read good reviews about. Oh well his loss.

Rafki planet watch is out of order so we hoof it on over to EE to find out it’s out of order also.
StauskesdoAK110.jpg

Walk on over to Dinosaur and wait is 45 min. I ask a cm a question regarding f.p. time and got a very rude answer. At this point park is getting too hot as is some tempers so we decide to leave.

I doubt I will ever return to AK.

We decide to get some gas in the car and find the Hess station by DHS. We then head back to AKL to spend the afternoon by the pool.

When we arrive back to our room disappointed in the outcome of the day we find a pleasant surprise….more pixie dust. Our mousekeeper had left several towel animals in the room. They were so cute and really did change the day around for us. Boy I just love pixie dust. :lovestruc

After ewing and awing over the towel animals we head on out to the pool. We weren’t sure if coolers would be allowed but we took one full of beer and had no problems.

StauskesdoAK125.jpg

We get to see the second lifeguard rescue of our trip at the pool today. Picture of the pool above does not include anyone involved.
Dad is up on a chair blowing up an inflatable toy and mom is in the shallow end with a 3yr old and a baby that has just started to walk. 3yr old is eager and very confident in the water and keeps going deeper and away from mom. Mom has to keep getting him and pulling him into the shallows. Sure enough she does it one time to many and as soon as her back is turned to the youngest he falls down and his head goes under the water. The lifeguard also knew this was going to happen. I don’t even think that the lil tikes head had even gone underwater before he jumped in. Good job lifeguards. Baby is OK just crying and mom and dad decide to stay. Several times a CM would come and check on them as the lil guy kept crying. Of course he was crying he was just traumatized and is now being made (read held by dad half way in/out of the water). Of course as soon as dad would lift him out of the water he would stop crying. After about an hour a CM finally talks the parents into letting some paramedics take a look at him. After about 15-20 min paramedics show up, evaluate him give him and big brothers some new toys to play with and are on their way. So all ends well thank goodness.

We get ready for dinner early and stop by Victoria Falls for a glass of wine before we head to Calif. Grill. The bartender at Victoria Falls was terrible and didn’t even ask if we wanted a second glass or bring the bill. Slapped enough $ on the table to cover the wine and a small tip. Of course then he comes running over. I could understand if he was busy but all he was doing was talking to his coworker

I’m excited for our dinner tonight at Ca. grill since I made the reservations to correspond with Wishes. Finally after 2 nt’s of not getting to see any fireworks I finally get to see some. I’m a freak for lightening storms and fireworks so I am thrilled.

So it’s getting to the point I have taken so long to get to this point that I am starting to forget a lot of the details. So I’ll try to do my best.

I forgot to tell ya that yesterday and today we got woke up by Stitch :stitch:and Mickey::MickeyMo calling us on the phone. If you have little ones I highly recommend getting wake up calls...very cute.

Thursday we arrive at DHS at about 9:45am. I wanted to go get FP for TSM and then head over to TOT & RRR. I knew from the boards that TSM goes fast and this would be one of the few rides Mark would ride. But Mark didn’t want to do the backtracking so we head right over to TOT I wait in the 20 min line. I was very excited to finally get to ride this since I had heard so many great things….but must say I was disappointed it wasn’t as scary as I had anticipated.

As I come out from TOT Mark is waiting for me with a FP for RRR (he can be such a sweetheart):lovestruc but still had to wait 25 min for FP time. So I decide to go wait in the 20 min standby line and then reride it with FP once done.

Once I’m done with my two rides I find Mark and he tells me he has been speaking with a lady who happened to be the mother of one of WDW Moms panelist. She of course was there with her daughter from the panel who was also riding RRR. Boy they are lucky they get to come to WDW every 3-4 mo. Funny story here. Seems that the panelist was asking Mark questions about our stay and what we were enjoying and such. When he told her he was looking forward to drinking around the World the next day she made a quick exit. She wasn’t rude or anything but he just thought it was so funny how fast she had to go as soon as he said that. He said that her mom even shrugged her shoulders to him as they were leaving.:lmao:

Walk on over to TSM and it’s about 11:15 and what do you know they are all out of FP for the day. Humm can I say I told you so. The stand by line is 1 hr and we (really I) decide not to wait. I told him I’d wait for him if he wanted to be in standby for over an hour. Mark is upset that the only ride he really wanted to try wasn’t going to work out for him. Oh well there is reason I studied these boards for 6 mo’ths and if your not going to take the word of all the experienced folks here on the Dis then I guess your going to be disappointed.:confused3

Walk on over and ride backlot tour. Geeze the que was so hot with no air moving. It didn’t help that the stand by time was suppose to be 10 min but was 30. Don’t waste your time on this ride. :headache:

Since we aren’t enjoying our time in the hot concrete jungle known as DHS, we decide to see if we can get into our lunch reservation early. We head in the general direction of Mama Melroses and Mark asks a CM before turning the corner to go down the correct street where it’s at. She gives him directions going the other way. Long story short after being lost about 5 min we ask another CM for directions and of course discover we have been told the wrong way. Mark is upset and doesn’t hesitate to let the CM who misguided him know.

We purchase some cute Christmas ornaments from It’s a Wonderful Shop and then step next door to Mama’s.

We leave DHS and go back to AKL. Once back at AKL I decide to finally take a tour around the areas I had not seen yet and head out onto Arusha rock. Get back to the room and in the hallway is a mousekeeper and I ask her if she is the one that cleaned our room the day before and did the towel animals. She said yes and I hugged her. It through her off gaurd so I had to explain how much it meant to us. I had really been hoping for them when I'd seen threads here on the Dis about them. Mark was in the rooma nd heard me talking to her and came out. We ask her into our room to pose with the animals. She reluctantly obliges us and Mark gives her a big tip when she leaves.

As Mark and I spend the afternoon watching all of the animals outside our balcony we decide to stay a few more nt's. This was to be our last nt. at AKL we’re to move to CBR on Fri morning. But we fell so in love w/ our room that we decide to try to change our last 2 nt’s to stay in our same room. This sounds so great but…….I had made the reservations for CBR on Travelocity and wasn’t sure how it would work out. Mark calls the front desk to see about staying the next 2 nt’s and the gal says no, that they are all booked up and that we need to call the front desk at 7 am to see if there are any cancellations. Mark just can’t believe this and ends up spending the next ½ hr ranting about it. So he decides to call down again and this time talks to somebody else who says yes and will call us back w/ details. At this point we’re happy and I’m calling my brother at home (he's a big Travelocity nut) to see if he can’t get Travelocitys phone number for me so that I can make sure we aren’t going to be out the nt’s I had already paid for at CBR. While I’m on the phone concierge calls back up to the room to say everything is taken care of and that they have already transferred the $ I paid for CBR to our AKL bill and that all we have to pay for is the difference in cost of the rooms. Wow it was amazing how fast and simple it was. I will also say that we didn’t pay as much as we should have.:ssst:I think that AKL did not take into effect the discounted rate I had paid for the CBR room $78 @ nt. When we received our bill it appeared that they had credited us the full price of a CBR rm instead of my discounted price……so more pixie dust. We saved about $200.pixiedust:

Hang out on the balcony until it’s time to head back to DHS for Fantasmic.:wizard: They had added a second showing for Fantasmic but our tickets were for the first showing. We decide to take a beer with us to our seats and stop at Rosie’s All American Café and wait in line for 20 min. We arrive at our seats at 7pm and I am shocked at how full the regular side was. They stopped seating ppl about 45 min prior to show time. Of course many ppl tried to sneak into the package seating area but, I will say that the CM's did a good job at keeping most of them out. I don’t envy the CM’s their jobs here. So many rude ppl. While waiting Mark and I make fast friends with a couple of little girls near us and it helps to pass the time. The show finally starts and is good….but I would never wait in the humongous lines for this show. When the show was over and we were walking out I could not believe the line of ppl waiting to get into the second show. Boy they had to be hot standing in that area w/o any air flow.:crowded: WOW more power to them definitely not worth the wait IMO.

Head back to AKL and stop at Mara and order a Turkey Chiabatta sandwich and Chicken nuggets and take them back up to the room. I was so hungry and on the way up to the room my blood sugar dropped. By the time we made it to the room I was pretty ill. Tried my best to eat the Turkey Chiabatta but it had so much seasoning it was hard to try to keep it down. I finally nibbled on enough of the bread that I started to feel better and little while later I enjoyed my cheecake we brought back from lunch.

Tonight several Roan Antelope slept in front of our balcony. It was neat to see them before we fell asleep and then again in the morning before they got up. I'm loving the savanna so much that I'm up every morning at sunrise to watch the animals.

I'm late to the game as usual:laughing: I've been reading your food report and just came across your trip report:goodvibes I'm late, but glad to be here!

So Friday is our Epcot day since they have EMH until midnight. We originally had ressy’s at Boma for breakfast at 8:50am but decided to skip them and get to the park early. Stopped at Boma and cancelled our ressy.

We get to Epcot at 9:05am and are so early that we parked practically in front of the front gates and walked right in. Our plan of attack was for me to get on TT and then Mission Space. TT is out of order when we walk up and I am wondering if this going to be a repeat of AK and a lot of rides down? Get a FP in case it comes back up anytime soon and head over to Mission Space. No wait at Mission Space and I chose the Orange or wild side. It was a pretty cool ride but not nearly as scary as I was lead to believe. Once off MS I find Mark and he tells me TT is up and running now. Decide to ride it instead of waiting for FP time since Mark hates back tracking. Wait about 20 min to ride it just for it to break down 3 times while on it…….etleast they got it running right and we did get to speed through the only fun part of it……the end. Find Mark again and thought we’d hit up Universe of Energy but Mark had no interest. Um OK then. So I try to find Sum of All thrills. It wasn’t listed on the park map. I was pretty sure it was in Innoventions East but we couldn’t see a sign for it so we walked past it. I asked Mark if he might want to ride Spaceship Earth but oh no he thought it was a rollercoaster and wouldn’t take my word for it that it wasn’t and that he had ridden it before. Mark wants to ride Living with the Land, I on the other hand want to ride Soarin first since it’s more popular. Over at Soarin. I had high hopes that Mark could ride this but he chose not to. So I get in line by myself for the 20 min wait time that stretched into 40mins. I loved Soarin and got a FP to ride it on the way out of the park. Many folks here on the Dis thought he’d be able to ride it w/o any motion sickness. I must say that there was a point that I got slightly dizzy and knew that if Mark was on it he would have been ill. Just a heads up for those wondering. Once I find Mark I ask about riding with Living w/ the Land. He’s not happy when he says that it’s too busy and no longer has an interest in it.

Are you guys starting to get a feeling about Marks attitude yet. Uh yeah it was a fun morning (rolls eyes). It doesn’t stop there. We then go over to ride Figament it is a 5 min wait. They have really changed it in the last 19’yrs. So I get to listen to Mark complain about that for the next 5 min.:sad2: Mark asks what I want to do and I tell him the Sum of All Thrills. So we start heading back to Innovations and I stop to ask a CM where to find S.O.A.T., she’s never heard of it…..huh really. Mark is loosing all patients at this point. We continue towards Innoventions East. So we’re in front of I.E and I stop to look for SOAT as Mark just continues walking away….at this point I have had it and am not about to yell across the park for him. A CM comes out of the building and I ask him. He doesn’t know what I’m talking about I describe it as the build your own ride and he immediately knows what I’m talking about and sends me inside. I stand there for a few minutes waiting for Mark to look my way so I can wave him into the building. So we had thought it would be a big ride but it is just a small area inside of the building. It’s a 20 min wait and I get in line. This is a ride I couldn’t wait for I knew I wanted to do a jet ride. After I built my ride and go to get on it and I don’t fit. What the he**. At this point you would think I would be embarrassed oh no, not embarrassed just upset. You would think that Disney would have a test seat to check first. So on my way out I step up to the CM working the front of the line and ask her to pass on a suggestion to her supervisors and recommend the test seat. She says that they have one and points to a back corner I look for a little bit and finally see it way back in the dark corner. At this point she says that the CM’s many times have recommended moving the seat to the front of the line area (humm makes sense it’s where I’ve seen them at any other amusement park). I just can’t say how disappointed I am not just because of my excitement for the ride but also the waste of time.

I find Mark and ask what he wants to do, he has no answer (sigh). :confused3We grab a quick ice cream cone at Edy’s. As we’re eating our cones in silence I see the Coke refreshment station and we go in to try some exotic Coke, or should I say I do. I taste a sip and turn and try to get Mark to try……no way. So I try another and turn around to talk to him and he is over on the other side of the room. So I wave at him that I’m leaving and as he catches up with me he ask what I thought of the Cokes. I’m thinking you sure didn’t care in there so why do you care now but my answer was it doesn’t matter. At this point I am feeling that I should have just came to the park by myself this morning, it would have been more fun.

Yeah the morning started out pretty bad but soon we start Our Drinking Around The World Escapade and his attitude changes. Stay tuned for our DATW report and Le Celleir review.:drinking1

Enjoying your food reviews. We decided not to do a dinner pkg for fantasmic and good thing now we decided to skip DHS that day after hearing so many say how terrible busy the park is on Fantasmic Nights.

I am interested on the EMH at Epcot , I orginally planned on doing them but switched everything around since recent reviews had Epcot so packed on those nights too.

I never thought about Soaring and motion sickness which my Ddil is prone to, glad you mentioned it so I can warn her.

Hi SJS2314. Oh I am glad you found out about the possible motion sickness. Nobody wants to be ill.

It maybe because we were there during a slow time but I did not think that it was that crowded at Epcot in the evening of EMH's. Etleast not compared to DHS on a Fantasmic nt. Many ppl start finding a place by the lake about 1-2 hr's prior to Illuminations. More info to follow when I ever get around to finishing my Epcot day in the TR. :rolleyes1 Seems like it's taking me forever to get this TR done.

Before going to world show case we stop at a Kim Possible booth and I find out they need help saving the world so Mark and I grab an assignment for after lunch at the UK. Yeah I had heard that the UK’s assignment was one of the better ones. Up to this point Mark had no idea who or what Kim Possible was.

We grab a boat over to WS and get off at Morocco. We split a Moroccan beer and start walking towards. France. Stop and get a glass of cabernet and a Kronenbourg. While we’re sitting and enjoying the drinks the French waiters started to perform their show of balancing on chairs. It was very entertaining. As we are walking away Marie the cat shows up. I just loved her she was so sweet….as she finishes with the first child in line she immediately runs off to the side to play with a special needs child in a wheelchair. It was so heart warming.

We had reservations at Le cellier at 2:20pm so we start heading that way. As we’re walking through UK Mary Poppins is there and she complements me on my Minnie ears and we have quick conversation and pose for some pics.

We stop to check out the red phone booths. I still had the phone numbers programmed in my cell phone so we decide to start calling them to see if the ppl there will pick up. It was funny when one gal did pick it up and told me I had a pay phone booth. I laughed and told her it was at Epcot red booth…she turns around and sees me standing there grinning….. oops cat out of the bag.

Make it to our reservation early and sit in the great air conditioning while we wait. Get seated in about 20 minutes and proceed to enjoy the meal.

Le Cellier Fri 9-17

Our waiter was Thomas and he was good. We each started with a Moosehead Ale since we’re drinking around the world. Mark had been eagerly awaiting the Moosehead and it didn’t disappoint him. Then we each had a cup of the Cheese soup very yummy, you could make a meal just out that and the pretzel bread.

We had each ordered the Filet and they were so delicious. I’m not kidding when I say they were so tender you could have cut them with your fork. This was definitely better then Ca. grill. At this point we are stuffed but had to order the dessert just because it was included in our DDP. Mark got a Chocolate Moose and I got the Canadian Chocolate cake. Both tasted good etleast the one bite of each that we took. Marks Moose was so cute it had chocolate antlers on the top of it.

After lunch we head back to UK to find out what our KP mission was to be. We receive our communicator and find out what our first step was. As we doing our mission Mark is loosing his patience and is not enjoying it. As we are looking for the toy soldier in the Toy shop Mark discovers Pooh and Tigger and abandons the mission. We get our pics taken with them and then go and turn our communicator in w/o finishing our mission. Oh well I tried.

We walk past France and Morocco and next stop is Japan. We walk into Mitsukoshi and watch the ladies working the Pearl booth. Mark asked if I wanted one and a I say no since the one I got on our honeymoon is still sitting in it’s plastic bag and still isn’t mounted. We go and check out the different mounting settings and he talks me into getting another pearl. So I decide to get one and picked out a great one. It was large at 7.5cm in size and was blue/silver. They say it’s rare only about 5% are that color. Yeah bonus. We got it mounted in a pendant setting. I have worn it several times and am very glad he talked me into it. We then go find some tea for Mark to take home.

Mark gets a Japanese beer a Sapporo I think. Over in the United States I stop at the Fife and Drum and get a Samual Adams seasonal beer. I can’t remember what it was but it was good (it wasn’t an Oktoberfest). Ran into a bachelor party here from MI. and had a good time joking around with them.

We continue walking and are now in Italy. We sit at a table on the corner of Italy and the main street of Epcot and enjoy ppl watching. We each enjoy a glass of wine from La Bottega Italiana. Shortly a street play about Romeo and Glendora ??? starts in front of us.
Cute entertainment.

Our next stop is Germany. Germany @ Epcot holds a special place in our hearts. We ate here on our honeymoon before it was a buffet. We really enjoyed it and we befriended another couple from our table who were also on their honeymoon. The husband from the other couple got pulled up onto the stage to direct the band. As soon as dinner was over we walked right out of the restaurant and out to the lake for Illuminations. We had about a ½ hr wait for Illuminations but Mother nature gave us a great show of lightening. It was so cool. I actually had to find the video and rewatch prior to leaving for this trip.

We stopped at Kunstarbeit in Kristal and bought a couple of pilsner glasses w/ Mickey and Minnie in German clothing and had our names engraved on them. While we waited for them to get done we waited in a forever beer line for some Altenmunster draft beers. While we waited we got to watch the bell tower/coocoo clock go around several times with the little girl chasing the villain. Another Kim Possible antic.

We go and sit out by the lake and drink our beers and meet several other folks. We proceed to sit there the rest of the evening getting another glass of beer and visiting w/ our new friends. We had dinner reservations at 7:30pm for Via Napoli but there is no way we could eat yet. So I walk over and see if they can change our reservations to 9:30pm….and they are able too. Funny when we did show up at 9:30pm they were telling walk ups that nothing was available. Glad I went when I did to change our dining time. We stayed at our position in Germany to watch Illuminations and said good bye to our new friends and made our way over for some pizza.

The crowds were starting to build in Via Napoli as we arrived and several ppl got turned away. We were seated in less then 5 minutes. I’m not going to do a full review of Via Napoli but just hit on a few basics. Mark was disappointed that you can’t just have a pizza to order. You can have things taken off from a pizza but nothing added. So we ordered a lg Pepperoni pizza and I had a quart of merlot and Mark had an iced tea. When the pizza came out the bottom appeared charred/burnt but tasted great to me though Mark complained about a burnt taste. When finished we order our deserts Apple torte cake to go since we weren’t hungry and I gave our server Paolo our Key To The World to pay for it. Paolo comes back and says that there are no table credits left on the card. At this point I’m confused according to all of my planning we should have had enough credits left to cover the meal. The only thing I could think of was that Le Cellier had already started charging 2 credits for their meals. At the time I didn’t think to find my Le Cellier receipt and look at credits used……remember all of those drinks I had. Mark wants to send the desserts back since they aren’t free but I don’t think that’s fair so we pay for them too and leave. Upon looking at my receipts we did still have a table credit a piece left. So Paolo was wrong and now I wish I had questioned it further. So I paid for a meal that should have been included in our DDP.

After leaving Via Napoli we decide to leave since we were tired and had had plenty to drink. So we gave up on drinking around the world. Good thing as I think we would have been hurting after we would of made it to Mexico and done tequila shots. LOL. I do believe that we drank enough German beer to make up for not finishing DATW.

Tomorrow will be a resort day and our last day at the world.

I know I'm a little late here, but I loved your report. It sounds like you had a great trip! :)
