A Salute to Food & Wine but Mostly Wine..12/21 FINAL THOUGHTS...a Solo Trip Adventure

Love your pictures! You got two of my favorite places, the garden behind the tea shop in UK and the little cottage in Canada. The kids call that "Mom's house." I've always wanted to live there!!

Sorry about the bad table and the rude CMs! I don't see where it is all that confusing to seat one person. Chuck and I haven't eaten there since 1989. I want to go back, but I'm not sure.

Good update!!

PS. Can you tell I'm on the couch with a hurt knee? I don't think I've posted this much all week!!

Ouch! Sorry about your knee. Hope it's nothing serious! I like that little cottage too! Imagine living there and then just walking across the lawn to Le Cellier for dinner every night?? :cloud9:

Wow, 4 updates in 3 days! You rock :thumbsup2

I  this picture. Very nice!

Thanks so much!! Just trying to motor through while I still remember the trip! And it is a nice way to fight the Disney blues.

Love love love the WS pics!! Especially the Canada one of the 'castle' and le Cellier... but they were all very good:thumbsup2

I don't know why the CMs at San Angel would assume you didn't speak any Spanish?:confused3 Really, it's practically a 2nd national language! Most people I know have at least a little understanding... maybe not enough to follow the whole conversation, but shucks even preschoolers can pick out "UNO" thanks to Dora the Explorer!!!

I would have had a very hard time NOT answering them in Spanish... when they seated me:lmao:

Well evn though your day hasn't gone as planned so far, it sounds nice and still time to get on track:goodvibes

That's my favorite picture too! You're right "uno" and the confused looks would be pretty easy to interpret in any language. You're right it was still a nice day despite the hiccups. If I could be back there right now, I would be!!

And Off Kilter every afternoon!!:lovestruc

The knee is not bad. I fell down a flight of stairs in college and every now and then I turn just the right way and pow, I'm out. I have lovely photos of me in the brace at WDW one summer.:scared1: I just like to think it's God's way of telling me, "Slow down, woman!"

I could sit in the Brown Derby all day and enjoy the atmosphere. :cloud9: I also try to figure out who's in the drawings but I'm not very good.

Really lovely trip report. I always love the Star Wars area too. I'm a huge fan of the series, and it always brings me back to my childhood. I had such a big collection of the figures. I was a big Luke fan. (I was such a fan of blonds when I was a kid. Luke and Bo Duke where my men. :) )

I'm glad you enjoyed the Brown Derby. It's one of my favorite places at Disney.

Brown Derby rules. Next time I'm going to order up a single male diner as well!! :rotfl:

No one told me you could order one of those????? :lmao: I'm going to have to add that to the trip planner for next year.

Oh, how I dream of a solo trip. Yours just makes it sound so appealing!

Except for Mexcio.

I would have said, "Si, uno. Por favor." :lmao:

Seriously, they've never had ONE person before? Sheesh. :confused3 I loved the guy at the Beach Club who told you were enough all by yourself. My kind of guy! Glad you liked the Brown Derby. I think you can't go wrong with Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake. :thumbsup2

Wow! How did I never see this PTR/TR before today? It took most of the afternoon (at work, mind you) for me to read it, but I did. So far, it sounds great. I've been to Disney solo a couple times and I'd love to be able to go for more than a long weekend. I think that will be my goal for 2009.

I've been an AP holder for 2 years now. It's very easy to use FDM (Fuzzy Disney math) to justify multiple trips as well as weekend-only trips. In fact, I'm going just to take advantage of a shopping discount next week!

It's my longterm (3-5 years) goal to move to Florida and work (if even part-time) for Disney. I wish I'd known about the College program when I was in school. I think I definately would have tried it.

Anyway, looking forward to more of your report. I'll subscribe, so I don't miss anything! Thanks for taking time to post.

I still haven't seen Off Kilter. Guilty. Maybe next trip? :confused3 Hope your knee is feeling better!

I do the same thing w/ the drawings. I haven't had much luck, though.

Thanks so much! I have great memories of playing Star Wars when I was younger. We always made my brother be Chewbacca! :rotfl: I also loved Dukes of Hazzard - can't remember if I was especially fond of Bo or Luke though. And yes, I think I'll order up a date next time at BD and see what they do with that! ;)

Disney had a babysitting service, maybe they should branch out into a dating service. :lmao:

Not a bad idea... ;)

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here! :goodvibes

Welcome!! Uh-oh a work afternoon spent DIS'ing. That has NEVER happened to me... :lmao: I am becoming well acquainted with the FDM. What's the shopping discount next week? Not that I can realistically fly down from Connecticut to shop.

I also would love to work for Disney someday and rue not knowing about/participating in the college program. I will confess to perusing the job postings every so often just to see if there is anything open that fits. :rolleyes1

Maybe someday.....:wizard:

I was browsing through some of your PTR and found this....

I covet OKW :cloud9:

Right?! It would eventually feed their wedding service... and then eventually the babysitting.... :lmao:

Amen to all of that! Especially the college program. I spent a summer working for Yellowstone Nat'l Park and discovered a whole culture of college kids and resort employees that travel the country working in tourist destinations. I never even thought of Disney back in those days!

:sad2:

I always knew there was hope!!!

The TOP SECRET plan would be called "The Magic Breeding Program.... Generations of Wonder"

Your Epcot pictures have me wanting to be there right now so bad. One more month, one more month, one more month....:goodvibes
