A resale closing timeline (thru Fidelity)

4/23/2014 – Disney waived ROFR. Fidelity says should receive closing documents from Title company by May 7th.
4/28/2014 received email with closing documents attached

That's strange; I passed ROFR on 4/17, but didn't get closing docs until 4/30. I'm surprised your's moved so quickly.

My Fidelity timeline so far:
3/10: Seller accepted offer
3/12: Contract received, signed, and returned; deposit authorization via credit card
3/20: Seller signs contract; sent to ROFR
4/17: Passed ROFR
4/30: Closing paperwork received, signed, and check mailed

I guess I bugged them enough..
Once we found out we passed ROFR I called fidelity left a message with my agent, than called the next day and spoke to a different agent (mine was out of town) , than call the following day and spoke to my agent..

I didn't do it on purpose, it just kinda happened..

Update: they got the sellers docs on Friday..
Title company sent them back to Disney today..

Said it can take 2-4 weeks to hear back from Disney :-( more waiting...

So, you closed today? I closed on Friday, but I haven't seen the deed recorded yet.

I think so.. They didn't say "closed", but they did say it went to Disney for the contract to be transferred to me..

So yea I think we are closed! Right?

: yay: So my deed is showing on the comptroller Web site.. Altho it just list my DH and my name with the sellers, nothing about it being AKL property yet.. But the same thing happened on our direct points too.. I'll check it in a few days to see if it's been finalized.
You may want to check yours to see if they posted it! Good luck!

Yup, my deed is showing up today, too. Points should post in about a week if you already have an account.

Our points posted to the comptroller website yesterday! Yay! We are already DVC members. The new contract is same resort, different UY.

How long do you think we will have to wait until they post? I'm hoping no longer than a week. I was told that the different UY meant it would take longer.

I am anxious to get them as we only have half our Nov. vacation booked and it's last week of F&W and W&D race weekend.

3/13/2014 - offer accepted by seller
3/19/2014 - received contract from Fidelity
3/20/2014 - e-mailed documents back to Fidelity
3/24/2014- documents sent to Disney for ROFR review

5/1/2014 – delivery & signature of 2-day air Mail confirmed at 12:17 p.m. by title company.
5/6/2014 called title company they are waiting on sellers docs.
5/9/2014 title company received sellers docs
5/12/2014 notified we are closed! Title company sent closing docs to Disney to be recorded. Was Told could take 2-4 weeks
5/13/2014 Orange county shows partial deed closing (workflow in progress)
5/16/2014 Orange county shows full deed closing (no points in Disney account)
5/18/2014 points showing in account! And trip booked for next April..
So........... 69 days from offering to points posted

I'm soo happy that it's done and over with..
This thread was the only thing that help me keep my sanity..
I could always look and say while I'm only on day 60 so I'll give it 10 more day before I lose it..

I did start to freak out at the end, cuz I read somewhere that a note should have been added with closing docs.
Stating that we were "adding on" and not new members..
I was told by our agent it really is not needed b/c we filled out the current member page before we sent to ROFR..
Still go my heart racing tho..

Hope my time line helps everyone..

I had no hang ups, problem with docs or sellers.. So I feel it a good estimate of what you can expect if everything goes smoothly

The agony of the wait is horrible!


Timeline so far is as follows (Fidelity and First American Title)

Mar 4th made offer
Mar 5th offer accepted
Mar 7th received contract via email
Mar 12th sent to ROFR
April 9th passed ROFR
Apr 17th received closing docs
Apr 21st closing docs and payment sent via courier
Apr 23rd closing docs and payment received by First American Title
May 21st seller finally returns the closing docs and contract is closed
May 29th deed is being processed at the Comptroller's Office


Total time so far: 86 days

I was informed by Fidelity and First American Title that deed registration can take up to 2 weeks and that Disney will take another 2 weeks to send us the final package...

I am not sure if what I am experiencing is the norm or the exception... regardless, I will be happy when it is over.

Reading all your posts, I'm a little disappointed that DVC doesn't have the same quality of service as the the rest of the Disney hotels and parks.
There really shouldn't be any reason why it would take them 30-60 days to process ROFR and send out the estoppel documents.

There is a reason, they want you to buy direct... the end. I mean no other reason is needed. Disney runs the show.

PS. My resale buy was 63 days from offer to points being added to my DVC account.

That is true, but we will be the ones paying their maintenance fees for the next 40yrs. They should still improve the resale customer experience better. If you can close a home purchase in 21 days, timeshares should be at least the same timeframe.

I totally agree. We should not be looked at as 2nd rate customers. But I do understand the delay with transfer Vs. Direct.

when i've called the 800# to check to see if my new member number is in the system, ive had some downright rude operators. I have 2012 points expiring in July so im kind of anxious to at least get in the system.

Yeah that's uncalled for. I'm glad my DVC guide was totally understanding when I told him I was going resale. He even called me to congratulate me on the points being added to my account.

I have never heard from my guide once since I decided to go resale.
