A resale closing timeline (thru Fidelity)

Got my closing docs via email today! 4/28.
We passed ROFR on 4/23, and I was told it could take up to 2 weeks..
What a nice surprise today

Little bit of help / advice please

I see on the site there is a 50pt AKV contract - points in 15 (which is fine for us as wont be travelling til then anyway at the earliest)

Is it good value ? negotiation tips on reducing my fees (being UK based will be stung on FX rates if not careful)

Thanks in anticipation !

Hi Madscouser,

We're also uk based, so understand your concern about the fx rate, but unless it drops sharply it wont make much difference, perhaps less than £100 overall.

I can't find the listing you mention, so don't know the price pp.

You wouldn't pay any annual dues, if ll the 2014 points have gone. I would be inclined to ask the seller to contribute towards closing costs, rather than offering less pp, that way there is a greater chance of passing ROFR.

There is a thread on this site which tells you what price pp people are currently paying, it might be worth a look as a guide.

Happy looking

Just adding s contract offered through fidelity? I didnt check them. I asked on a uk based forum about them before we bought our 2nd contract and the reports weren't favourable. Maybe have a look on the site I'm talking about. Its called the dibb.

These are the details from their webpage

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas

$4,000.00

50

$80.00

APR. 14-0, 15-50, 16-50

1361212

we currently have 200 SSR points, but as we are now locked into school holidays (grr) need a few extra, and as we stayed at AKV last time out and eldest loved it, kind of makes sense to add their and give us some 2 property flexibility

Closing costs are around $500 arent they ?

Yes to closing costs.

Is your current UY April?

Don't forget you can only use your AKV points for AKV at 11 months, and 7 months elsewhere, and the SSR points at 11 months there and 7 months elsewhere.

I'm sure you know you can't combine your points for bookings (until less than 7 months).

Would 50 points be enough for you at AKV? Obviously don't know what size room you need.

sadly UY is dec. still trying to work out best option

Ok that does present you with some problems.

You will effectively have 2 memberships and cannot easily combine the points. You could transfer your AKV points into your SSR account each year, but remember transferred points cannot be banked.

Personally I'd think whether a small holding at a separate resort works, if it does hang fire until you find one with the same UY.

If it doesn't just add SSR on (same UY also), or buy direct, then you can choose your UY.

I'm under the impression that transfers can be banked, but banked points can't be transferred.

Thanks for the correction, I'm sure you're right.

Can borrowed ponts be transferred?

Whats your thoughts is a small holding in a different resort wi a different UY more trouble than it's worth?

I can't really see a positive unless you would use the points in isolation.

We're way off topic, but, no, borrowed points cannot be transferred.
There's a reason small contracts are often referred to as "add-ons." They should match your existing portfolio. A different resort would be okay, but a different use year? That's just asking for difficulties.

Did you call to get your member number? My deed was also recorded on the 17th, but they didn't have anything in the system when I called yesterday. Someone else said they were still processing 4/11 deeds.

Yes I called today. I also called yesterday and there was nothing then. I tried to get my online account set up through MS but they said I had to wait for the mailer.

I am getting a little anxious about our SSR contract. We are now waiting for the sellers to return the executed closing documents.

Timeline so far is as follows (Fidelity and First American Title)
Mar 4th made offer
Mar 5th offer accepted
Mar 7th received contract via email
Mar 12th sent to ROFR
April 9th passed ROFR
Apr 17th received closing docs
Apr 21st closing docs and payment sent via courier
Apr 23rd closing docs and payment received by First American Title

Total time so far: 60 days

Hopefully we will see some progress next week.

Just to show variability, we too passed ROFR on the same date, but only closed yesterday due to delays from Disney according to the Title Service. I hope to have access to my 2013 points by May 7th.

Surprise! Our points posted today. Contract recorded on April 24th...

Just to add to the discussion. I closed on April 23, recorded on April 24 and received my member number and points today (May 5).

Sent to ROFR on February 25. Just about 10 weeks or so for the entire process.

Thought I'd share... 57 days an counting..
