A request.....regarding the Haunted Mansion pre-show!

Wow, some of you guys don't sound like much fun to travel with! Personally, I don't recite any of the words to the pre-shows mainly cause I don't know them all word-for-word (I guess I'm just not paying that much attention), but honestly, I don't really care that much if others do. Truth be told, everyone is on vacation and there to have fun, and as long as no one is getting hurt or no rules are being broken, there isn't much anyone can do to stop people from doing these minor things that bother you. Perhaps you redirect your energy towards focusing on the subtle details in the stretching room (lots of them that many, even hardcore Disney and HM fans overlook), but you've paid a lot of money to be in that park, so why spend your time getting annoyed with other people's fun? Maybe even appreciate that somebody enjoys the attraction that much that they've memorized the opening spiel.

As for the screaming, something I'm incapable of participating, you know it's coming (it has happened almost every time I've been on the ride), so just prepare for it and cover your ears. I guess what I'm trying to say is this all isn't really that important. Let people have their fun. They're on vacation just like you, and it's only a tiny bother in the grand scheme things, not really even worth a thread on the TPA&S form in my opinion. There are plenty of more substantial guest "tendencies" that are worth complaining about.

If that' how you feel, that's fine. I suppose we could just replace "screaming/reciting" with:

Flash pics on rides
holding up phones/ipads during shows
talking on cell phone during an attraction
being drunk in Epcot
stopping in the middle of the path to read a map
putting kids on shoulder during fireworks/parades
and on and on.

EVERY gripe is only a "tiny bother in the grand scheme". That doesn't mean people can't gripe about them, and still manage to deal successfully with them while actually ON vacation.

I'm really enjoying reading all of the responses! Hearing guests recite the lines (so loudly that we can't hear the narrator) or screaming doesn't ruin our trips! LOL That would be silly! It just detracts from that particular ride.

The reciting does bother me just a tad but the screaming is just rude. Someone screamed right in my daughters ears and she started hysterical crying and had to leave the ride.

"I'm on vacation" doesn't mean you loose respect for those around you.
Truth. We were on the hm and these idiot girls screamed all through the ride. The dad totally said that when the crowd that was on at the same time, including us, came off growling.

Obnoxious self centered brats.

So is it ok or not ok to ask "Howabout some backstage passes?" between Aerosmith's "manager" asking "Well what do expect me to do? Send them all with you?" and Steven Tyler responding "Wait a minute ... I love that idea..." on RNRC?

And you have to put your hand up to your forehead awkwardly like he does too!! DH and I....every single time....:rotfl2:

For all of those who think it's silly to be annoyed when others are talking over the ride narrations, do you mind when people sit and talk during a movie you just paid to see, or are you ok with that too?

If rides were a walk-on, I wouldn't care. But when the whole mood is spoiled on your one chance to ride a ride with a precious FP, or the one day of your trip that it is running, or like PP, your one chance during a party without spending another hour in line....I'm not surprised to hear that's annoying for people.

I also wonder how many of the "oh hey, lighten up, chill" crowd live within "let's pop over for the day" distance versus "cough up a bundle and maybe get to go once every two or three years" kind of folks.

Here's generally why I find it annoying when people are reciting or chatting or being otherwise inconsiderate to other riders during the HM stretching room. Its not about me - I'm all too aware of what is going on, and what is coming. But my kids aren't. To them, that recording is a ghost speaking to them. If someone else is talking all the way through it, my kids either can't hear it, or the magic is killed. Its all about creating the scene, and when people destroy that scene, I find it annoying and selfish. I'm not talking to those who quietly do it to themselves. But don't ruin the magic of the moment for young riders, or first few times riders. Its just not cool.

"Tonight’s story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a maintenance service elevator still in operation, waiting for you. We invite you, if you dare, to step aboard because in tonight’s episode, you are the star. And this elevator travels directly to…The Twilight Zone.”

There's a slight pause just before he says The Twilight Zone. Just long enough to say "The Gift Shop". Gets a laugh every time.

This is my go to every time, and I can't help it cause I live for the laugh. I apologize if anyone takes offense (especially to the CMs who have heard it more than I've done it)

I think this is nowhere near as bad as the JC guests who need to recite the punch line of the jokes...BEFORE the skipper does.

AS A SKIPPER THIS IS THE WORST THING. I usually called the guests out or used "non approved" jokes, just because of how freaking annoying it was.

Also: I wholeheartedly apologize to everyone because this terrible, terrible thing is something I used to do. I really thought it was SO COOL that I knew all of the words to the narration and "couldn't help myself" and hold it back. One day, a friend pointed out how obnoxious it was and I felt guilty. I just felt really proud of myself because I had spent months listening to the soundtrack, preparing for this trip.... so yeah. Will never do it again. People don't mean harm, it's just adding to their enjoyment. They need to be told by someone who they will actually listen to to stop.

I also find myself saying "That's proprietary"....with Phyllicia(sp) Rashad, during the Dinosaur pre-show. :duck:

This is my favorite thing....actually the Dinosaur pre-show as a whole is just full of juicy sound bites. Although I refrain from saying it out loud, my friends and I are always giggling and repeating it throughout the ride.

My three year old recites the HM pre-show, everywhere we go. The grocery store, the doctors office, the play ground. "No wimdows and no doors, hahaha" She gets odd looks when people don't understand where she is getting it from.

All of those are either against the rules or put someone in potential danger with the exception of the iPads during shows and kids on fireworks. i think many would see what you listed and someone reciting an attraction opening as in different boats. Ultimately, you get to choose how you spend your time and what you complain about, but I really don't have sympathy for people upset about someone spend perhaps 2 mins of your trip playing along with the HM and reciting the script along with the "Ghost Host". If it ruins that particular experience, fine, but I really don't think it's logical to say it ruined your whole trip (that's a sentiment that has been expressed here).

Nobody asked for or needs your sympathy....or your permission to be annoyed. It annoys some. Others not-so-much. It's a vent thread. Just people blowing off steam about the little annoyances. No big.

I've actually never noticed this. While we're on the subject of wdw pet peeves, this bothers me most: In theater shows, one foreign guest interprets every word of the narrative of theater shows (CP, American Adventure, Hall of Pres) loud enough for his entire group of 20 some-odd non-English speaking guests to hear.

Last year I was on Epcot's Living with the Land. Two men were seated in the bench right in front of me. We were the only ones in the boat. When we got to the farmhouse, they took one look at that rooster & started screaming/crowing at the top of their lungs. In unison. One crow might have been funny. 5 plus mins of non-stop screaming crowing was just nasty. They didn't stop until a CM got on the loudspeaker and told them to stop. Its such a peaceful, nice little ride in Epcot. Just mind boggling behaviour. Maybe a little (or a lot) of liquid courage went into it. Bizarre & just freaky when you are riding alone in a boat with that.
