A request.....regarding the Haunted Mansion pre-show!

I think this is nowhere near as bad as the JC guests who need to recite the punch line of the jokes...BEFORE the skipper does.

Except when they are BETTER than the skipper! I have been on a couple where the skipper STUNK. No timing. Flat affect. I WISH someone would have taken over. Would have been infinitely more amusing!!! The skipper makes or breaks that ride - and when they are awful, they break it badly.(And sadly the duds were not on the same trip so now I hesitate even trying to go on it for fear of another dud.)

I went to a musical (traveling Broadway level) and the person next to me was singing along - out loud! I DEFINITELY did not pay to hear her sing.

There is a reason I refuse to go to tourist catnip shows on Broadway. (Phantom, Chicago, Mamma Mia (thankfully put out of our misery when it closed), Jersey Boys, Les Mis (whatever revival number it is on), Wicked, and, yes, any Disney musical)

People who think they are allowed to sing along. Soooo uncouth.

LOL I don't think it's a big deal to do it quietly to yourself. I'm talking about guests who overpower the narrator so I can barely hear him. lol
OH now even that would get my hackles up too...dont blame ya

So we have three options

1. upon entering the foyer cast members hand out strips of duct tape to put over your mouth and the mouths of small children

2. The stretching room does not stretch until the room has total silence

3. The ghost hosts yells. SILENCE PLEASE very loudly and totally unexpectedly before giving the tour

I vote for option number 3! Goes well with the theming! ;)

Ok last year on JC we had an amazing Skipper one of the best we have encountered, but as we were loading he was cracking jokes to almost everyone and all he got were crickets.... So our family chimed in when you could tell he wanted interaction from the boat. There's a difference between giving away a punchline and interacting with the Skipper. Otherwise everyone can enjoy an overly excited Skipper who is performing to crickets....it was awkward. Like let me crack all these jokes and not a single laugh(granted they are the same ones, but how many people ride JC all day-everyday to get "old" of hearing them.).

I don't mind those who quietly do the spiel...I myself love to lip synch "Please stand clear of the door...por favor mantenganse alejados de las puertas" every time. I can't stand people who shriek in the stretching room or on HM or ToT just to try to scare others (not including the drop...that is shriek worthy). It's not scary. It's obnoxious.

Last time there two people engaged in a lengthy and loud conversation in the stretch room that had nothing to do with the Haunted House. I don't believe they had any awareness of where they were or there were people around them.

Or maybe they did but just did not care.

Especially those who decide it's totally acceptable to murderously SCREAM at the top of their lungs to make adults ears hurt. Totally just obnoxious. It happened on our first ride at HM last trip. Our ears were ringing... Then the second time we ride we have a respectable group, and ohhh'd and awww'd over the experience it was AWESOME.
And ToT at the big drop I don't know how people don't let out a shriek...

I am driven crazy by people just talking in general in the stretch room. I know the spiel by heart and will say it quietly to myself. Other guests that have screamed while in there were always because the maid/butler in the stretch room chose them to sneak up on to scare (witnessed this several times and it's funny when it's b/c of that reason).

The most annoying thing that I have witnessed was this guy that ended up in our group that boarded during MNSSHP and loudly said the whole mansion spiel the whole ride. DBF and I tried to lose him by letting him go ahead of us after the stretch room, but he somehow ended up in the doombuggy behind ours. He said the whole ghost host narrative and what annoyed me the most was his narrative of Madame Leota along with knocking and everything during her part. I wanted to deck him. :furious: I was so looking forward for the longest time to finally be able to ride my fave attraction at night during the halloween party (not to mention it's a one time thing during that party bc the line gets so long), and he ruined it. :sad2:

Oh no I could totally understand getting scared by a CM, but when the whole middle group screams bloody murder...that's a bit much.

I'm one who hates the screaming the worst. DS was fine with the Haunted Mansion almost right away except he was scared when he heard the tourists screaming. It's so silly and pointless.

Never had that happen on HM. The most I've had happen on ToT is at the end there will be several people who chime in with "THE TWILIGHT ZONE." But honestly, who can resist that?! Doesn't bother me.

.

A few years ago there was a creep who posted that he liked to sneak up behind teen girls or young women and whisper "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" into their ears. He was quite proud of himself and thought he was hilarious, then got offended when other posters called him a nutjob.

Wow, some of you guys don't sound like much fun to travel with! Personally, I don't recite any of the words to the pre-shows mainly cause I don't know them all word-for-word (I guess I'm just not paying that much attention), but honestly, I don't really care that much if others do. Truth be told, everyone is on vacation and there to have fun, and as long as no one is getting hurt or no rules are being broken, there isn't much anyone can do to stop people from doing these minor things that bother you. Perhaps you redirect your energy towards focusing on the subtle details in the stretching room (lots of them that many, even hardcore Disney and HM fans overlook), but you've paid a lot of money to be in that park, so why spend your time getting annoyed with other people's fun? Maybe even appreciate that somebody enjoys the attraction that much that they've memorized the opening spiel.

As for the screaming, something I'm incapable of participating, you know it's coming (it has happened almost every time I've been on the ride), so just prepare for it and cover your ears. I guess what I'm trying to say is this all isn't really that important. Let people have their fun. They're on vacation just like you, and it's only a tiny bother in the grand scheme things, not really even worth a thread on the TPA&S form in my opinion. There are plenty of more substantial guest "tendencies" that are worth complaining about.

Oh by no means does it ruin a trip but we can still gripe about it being ridiculous (the screaming) . And I guess I just tune out the personal reciters...
Trust me there are plenty of boards that waste space...but I don't go around to every board that doesn't interest me and say it's a waste.

I find that even more annoying that people reciting the narrative - especially if they talk so loud, it tops the narrative. And to top it off, it's in a language you don't even understand. Well, that really goes for every attraction basically.

Ever been at Beauty and the Beast at DHS and been surrounded by teens who did the show at their school the previous year???

FORGET about trying to hear the performers. First you get to hear how Kelsi did Belle sooooooooo much better. THEN you get to hear Kelsi sing - and not matching pitch with Belle on stage. And so forth and so on with EVERY PART.

Sheer torture.

I would gladly deal with that over being in the doom buggy next to some idiot taking flash pictures in EVERY SINGLE scene of the ride!!!!!! I have never been so annoyed with guests in all my trips until that happened in November. People are so rude and have no common courtesy for others.
