We are planning a Family trip in October 2012. There are 6 of going in total and we are stayig at the Contemporary Resort. At the time my brother called they would only allow him to book two rooms under the current promotional deal. He reserved rooms for he and his girlfriend as well as my parents. Somewhere in the booking process it ended up being my father and brother in one room and my mother and his girlfriend in the other. When my mother had discovered this she called and was advised by the CM to just change it upon arrival to prevent a charge for altering the reservation.

While this is no big deal it presented a couple of issues. 4 of us are staying a day longer than my brother and his girlfriend so the KTTW would not match with two of the guest's reservation. Also at this time my brother is listed as the primary name on one room while his girlfriend ended up listed as the primary name on the second room. The main issue that I was wondering about revolves around arrival times. We arrive with my parents three hours before my brother’s girlfriend and almost 11 hours before my brother arrives.

Is there going to be an issue with my parents being able to check into one of the rooms upon their arrival? Their names appear on the reservation but are not the primary name. If it's going to be an issue it would obviously be worth the fee to alter the reservation instead of them having to wait until my brother arrives on scene.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Would there really be a change fee already? I thought that was past 90 days out?

I found this info for you:

Changes to Reservation: For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers, will be charged. Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change. If air travel has been ticketed, guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline.

You have plenty of time to change it. I'd say your best bet is to change the names to the proper ones in each room. Thats your best bet to avoid confusion. It sounds like the CM did not know what he/she was saying when he spoke of a change fee. I would call again until you get someone more helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to call and see if I can't get a different answer than the first phone call. The rest of the group doesn't think it will be an issue but I can just see my folks getting there and not having a room to check into for almost 12 hours. That to me would be worth a charge but by what you're telling me we should have plenty of time to change the reservations.

Thanks Again.

We had to change the names on our reservations last year. We were able to do so with out any charges. Perhaps call back and you'll have better luck with another cast memeber who won't charge.
