A question, not a debate, about parking.

Many times we are just waved through also and really it should not be that way! Many times the guards at the resort entrances are not as thorough as they should be. Parking is an evergrowing problem at the MK and Epcot resorts for people parking there and going to the parks which causes guests staying at the resorts to have to search for a parking spot. I wish they were more vigilant in checking for parking from non resort guests. We almost always use valet parking but for the occasional time we self park it can be a hassle that really should not happen for the guests paying to stay at the resort. If you are at the resort for a meal, shopping, pool hopping etc., the 3 hr parking permit allows ample time, but please do not park at the MK or Epcot resorts for the day or evening while you eat at a restaurant and then go to a park for the day/evening! You do belong there, if you want the conveninece to parks from that resort then please pay to stay there. Thank you, I will now get off my soapbox.

We are DVC members and visited other resorts 3 wks. ago.We noticed that the monorail resorts gave us between 2-3 hrs. pass, while the other guards let us thru only after we told them we were stopping by to eat.

A few years ago they would just wave us through, but not any longer. At monorail lots we try to park further away as not to take up a space for their paying guests.

Just wondering if anyone ever parked at the monorail resorts on E-nite and had their car towed away? Never tried to,always parked in the MK lot for fear of being towed, but really hate dealing with the people on the trams trying to squeeze 12 people onto one bench for 6. yipes!!!

Please don't do this. :(
The only cars that belong in a monorail resort parking lot are the cars of patrons at the restaurants AT the resort with a limited time parking permit--which is a parking permit for time spent patrionizing the resort--not for easy access to parks, regardless of whether you had a meal at the resort before or after going to a park, and for cars belonging to paying guests staying at the resort!
Not to be snippy but if you want the advantages of the location to the parks that a MK or Epcot resort provides, then pay to stay there! Location is a very important amenity for a resort and guests staying there pay accordingly for this whether it be by pts or cash!

We've NEVER had any problems parking at any Disney Resort even the years when we weren't staying at Disney Resorts. I always chalked it up to the fact that we're always there in January. It's so slow then, I don't think they bother with the passes. I don't think DVC members would get any preferential treatment for parking. I would guess it most likely has to do with the time of year and how crowded it is.

There lies a very big part of the problem with guests staying at these resorts and having either a hard time finding a parking space in the resort parking lot of where they are a paying guest, or having to take a parking space located very far out when once again they are paying guests at this resort.
It really does not matter what time of the year it is or how crowded the parks are......if you don't belong in the parking lot.....you don't belong in the parking lot!

Aw, c'mon lighten up!!!!! If I was going into a Disney resort for drinks, dinner or shopping then why don't I "BELONG" there? We always informed security why we were there and they never had a problem with it. They were happy to provide free parking in return of money spent in their bars, restaurants or stores. It's not hallowed ground or anything, and in January there has always been MORE than ample parking at the resorts.

Give me a break.

If you are dining at a resort restaurant, shopping at the resort, DVC member pool hopping, etc., yes then you definitely have every right to park there for a limited time. Where the problem lies is when people park at a MK or Epcot resort to go to a park. Even having a meal, shopping, pool hopping etc., only entitles a guest to parking while they are using/spending money at that resort not for the time spent at that resort having lunch and then spending the day/night at a nearby conveniently located park!

My "pool hopping" parking situation was at the Poly.
Generally, even with our DVC member pass displayed, we are given the 3'rd degree at the guard gate, and then the usual 3-hour parking pass at all the MK resorts, the AKL, and the Beach/Yacht Club.
Going to Coronado Springs, Dixie Landings, etc, we're usually just waived on thru--but then, everyone else seems to be waived on thru also, so our DVC thing dosen't seem to matter at all.

We just got back last night, and while we were waved through and not given the 3 hour parking passes, we were asked if we had dinner reservations.
