I will not make this a debate; if someone else wants to, I'll join in. I'm curious how other Christians will answer.

If you were standing before God & He were to ask you, "Why should I let you into My heaven?", what would you say?

I will wait to post my answer until later.

He would know that I don't feel worthy, but I depend on His grace to accept me anyway.

-Because I'm not good enough, but Jesus died for my sins and I choose to stake my eternity to his grace
-Because you claimed me as your own through the waters of baptism

He wouldn't have to ask, he would know from the way I lived my life.

Romans 10:9-10

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

I do and I have.

OK, here's my answer:

Because Jesus died for me. He took the punishment for my sins. He is my ticket to heaven, because He has become my righteousness.

In the words of Ray Boltzs " I claim the blood of Jesus and his death apon the cross". I just love his song "one drop of blood" Great video too.

Cause I am Monkeyboy
(We have an understanding)

I won't have to answer. Jesus will say that I have been purchased by the precious blood of his sacrifice. My name is written down in the Lamb's book of life.

Great answers everyone!! :thumbsup2 I totally agree.

And to Monkeyboy............:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That question is hard to answer because that makes it seem like we're all some kind of American Idol contestant in front of a panel of judges trying to prove that we are worthy of being chosen. I don't think God is like that.

I will live eternally with God because of his Grace.

"Lord I am not worthy to receive you but only say the word and I shall be healed."

I have no reason why, I know I am an unworthy sinner but by the saving grace of his son I am saved. He knows me by name and will say "Welcome Home Jennifer, Welcome Home!"

I do and I have also!

I am just a sinner saved by grace!

ETA: I had to add the words to this song. I think the words say the message.
It is a song by Keith Getty. (Gettymusic.com for anyone interested. You can hear a small sound clip of the song there.)

"The Power of the Cross"
Words and Music by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

Oh, to see the dawn
Of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,
Torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

CHORUS:
This, the pow'r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain
Written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Ev'ry bitter thought,
Ev'ry evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees;
Now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life;
"Finished!" the vict'ry cry.

Oh, to see my name
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death;
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

FINAL CHORUS:
This, the pow'r of the cross:
Son of God—slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.

I second that

Hmmm, an awful lot of people pretty sure of themselves here....

My answer, "You shouldn't, I'm not worthy." It's His Judgement, not mine.

(Of course, between you/me and the lamp post, I'm counting on His Mercy!)

Personally, I just don't think God is sitting around waiting for us to screw up so He can pounce on us and banish us to Hell.

He wants it for us more than we want it for ourselves. We have to completely turn our back on him to lose his Grace.

Because I'm his beloved child, made in his image.
