A question for Christians

My vision of heaven doesn't involve big gate with God (or Peter) playing doorman. "You're in, you're in, you're in - the rest of you go burn in hell."

If I actually get to heaven, and God is outside asking questions, I won't know what to say.

Not sure I fit in on this thread since I'm not big on the organized religion thing. But I'll say this... I try to be a good person and do what's right. If that's not good enough, it's not a place I'd want to be anyway

I agree with a lot of what has been spoken here. I don't deserve it. Only through Jesus have I been saved. Only through God's mercy and undying love for me will I be accepted.

Nope, we aren't worthy, but I am sure of my salvation. I have confidence in His promises.

Do you honestly believe that heaven is only for Christians? Are you saying that all the other religions are doomed to a lake of fire for all eternity? What about people living in a jungle somewhere who have never heard of Jesus?

My religions isn't near as black and white. If there is a God only he can decide who belongs. Nothing I could say would be convincing enough. All I can say is I did my best and followed what my heart told me to do.

I will not make this a debate; if someone else wants to, I'll join in. I'm curious how other Christians will answer.

If you were standing before God & He were to ask you, "Why should I let you into My heaven?", what would you say?

To the person, who commented about people being sure of themselves.....Thats part of being Christian. If you believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and savior who died on the cross, and rose again to save us, then you have no reason not to feel confident.

I wouldn't consider that being judgemental. It's just answering based on what the bible says. If you believe the bible word for word, then you believe that you can't get in by being a good person, because that's what the book says. We are supposed be good people anyway, so it's not really much of a feat.

My Bible doesn't place limits on who God can choose to bring into Heaven. It tells us we can't *earn* our way into God presence via good works, but doesn't limit the criteria God uses to hand out gifts.

We must have different bibles then because mine says:

God doesn't choose. We choose if we want to go to heaven -- by accepting and confessing the gift of Salvation -- the death of His Son on the cross for all sin.
