A Question about Tipping

We are going to WDW on 8-13 and I was wondering what else do I need to Tip besides mousekeeping? We are on the dinning plan so our meals are covered unless we do extra for exceptional service. I'm just wondering so that I can plan on how much cash I want to get out before we leave.

The luggage crew if you use them for your bags. Can't think of anyone else offhand.

Its not exactly tipping but i usually print up some thankyou cards on business card stock and give them to any CMs that go above the call of duty to make my vacation magical

As far as tipping on the Dining Plan, does it state that tips are included for sit down restaurants? I've never participated so I don't know. I do know that at restaurants in general, if you are offered a free/comp meal at say TGI Fridays, or Outback, for example, you should still tip 15-20% on what your bill would have been. Waiters are still required to claim the cost of the food that you eat in their end of shift report and must report at least 8% tips on that amount, to the government for tax purposes. If you don't tip on a free meal at a restaurant, your meal my be free for you, but it costs your server 8% of it's value. Free or not, Uncle Sam wants his share. If the plan states that tips are included, then Disney does something else to cover the server financially and you are not obligated to leave a gratuity.

Yes all tips and taxes are included with the dining plan. 18% tip, some are giving extra for great service. My norm is 20 to 25% for excellent service and I will add this amount accordingly if I receive the service.

This may seem like a silly question, but here goes:

When you check in at the deluxes they take your baggage and valet your car. Do you tip them then or just when they get your car or deliver your luggage to the room? :confused3

Thanks!

Thank you, thank you, LolitaBelle, for asking this question! DW and I arrive in 13 days, and are staying deluxe, and have been wondering this for some time now. Especially, as we've never even used bell services or valet parking before. Ever. :tilt:

Thanks! I'm always afraid I'm going to do the wrong thing and insult a cast member by accident. :guilty:

You're welcome! :earsgirl:

While on the subject of valet parking at Disney do you pay when they take your car or when you pick it up. I just wanna make sure I have enough cash for all that and tips when we first arrive. Thanks :cheer2:

For bags... what if you're not in the room when they drop them off? Do you leave an envelope like for mousekeeping? We're using the Magical Express, and I'm thinking we may be at the pool or something when they drop off the bags. If I was there I would tip them. So what do I do if I'm not there?
