A question about July

I hope and pray that there are no hurricanes like last year but it's always possible. We went to WDW the third week of July last year and I know it was shortly after we returned home that the hurricanes started hitting. I don't remember the exacty date although I'm sure you Floridians do. I realize there is no way to answer this question for sure since it depends on Mother Nature but if we travel at the same time this year (3rd week in July) are we pushing our luck? When does hurricane season usually start?

The first one Charley was in mid-August. The others were in September. Officially, hurricane season is from May through Ocotober but most often they hit in August or September. I think everybody hopes last year will never be repeated. There are a lot of Floridian businessess that are hoping that most summer visitors will write off 2004 as a quirk and still come visit.

As noted above Hurricane season is technically 6 months out of the year. I know 1 hurricane, 10 years ago, hit WDW overnight Aug 1-Aug 2nd.
Remember 2004 was an extreme year for those storms and hopefully that will never be repeated again. There is always a chance of a hurricane during those summer months, but I wouldnt not take a trip because of that chance.
