A Question about Entertainment Book Coupons

For those of you who have used an Entertainment Book coupon on a vehicle rental....

The coupons (from what I can see online) seem to list a discount code + a dollar off coupon code (or a coupon code for a free upgrade).

If the discount code isn't as favourable as, let's say, a Visa discount code (or Costco, or whatever).....can you still apply the coupon to your rental?

Trying to decide if we should purchase an Entertainment Book for our December trip, and have to decide soon as they say it will take about 3 weeks for it to arrive.

I've done that the past few years without any problems. I use whatever discount code gives me the best rate and it usually isn't the entertainment book one and then I apply a coupon from the book.
