A question about drinking

We dont carry our id with us in the parks, I was at Dinner with my husband and my sister and her family. I ordered a drink and they wanted to see my ID. I did not have it with me, I dont look 31 :) They guy didnt belive me that I was 30 at the time, even with everyone in my party saying I was of age. The law is the law. The drinking age in Canada is 19, not sure what the 2 years do maturity wise. But hey, 21 will come fast enough...before you know it your 31 and are in awe that you made it that far....

From what a Disney bartender told me, Disney is strict on their alcohol policy because they have one license that covers all of Disney World. One major incident could cause them a lot of trouble.

Why not purchase some alcohol that you keep at your hotel room. Then you & daughter can enjoy a drink by the pool in the evening.:)

We were ate Kona cafe one night for dinner when DS was a fresh 1. He was still teething and having a rough night cutting teeth. My husband gave him an EMPTY Bud Light Bottle to chew on. DS loved it and was quiet for quite some time. The Waitress almost had cardiac arrest when she came to the table. There was no harm done, but it was something that we will never forget. :rotfl:

Sure you can buy her a drink...
You can also take the chance of getting caught, getting fined, going on a tour of the police station, set a bad example, .......

As a parent, I can't see how someone seriously asked this question!!!
Do yourself and your child a favor and treat her to an mickey ice cream instead!

Because in her state it is perfectly legal and done all the time.

That's not true there are states that a Parent can buy their child a drink, not anyone else but a parent can buy their minor child a drink.

I was thinking the same thing. Here in Texas, a parent (or spouse if one is over 21 and one isn't) can buy their minors a drink and even take them into a bar. And it's not really that uncommon.

I agree with the other post about teaching responsibility. My mother did occassionally buy me a margarita or daquiri after I was in college and we went out to eat, but she didn't order herself one because she was driving. I take the same attitude with my daughter. She's only 6 so I'm not buying her drinks obviously, but when we go out to eat, I only order myself a drink if someone else is not drinking so they can drive.

:thumbsup2 I second that. I think it would be perfectly fine to enjoy a cocktail in the privacy of your hotel room. Or at the pool

As a service member, you could however drink on base, could you not?
Unless rules have changed since my husband was in the USMC. ( he is your age)

Also, to the OP, I think you are making the right choice in holding off the 'ritas. It's not worth getting anyone in trouble or casting a cloud over your vacation. Have a great trip.

They would not let us legally drink on base (we did anyway).

OT, but if you can kill for your country you should be able to drink in your country.

Like others have said, this is legal in OP's home state of WI. I went to college in WI with a lot of WI native's and basically this just means if you go out to dinner with your parents and you're 20, they can order you a beer. I know a lot of just over 21's like this law because if you forget your license and are with your parents it's no big deal.

I think it's funny how people think that there is some great responsibility switch that gets flipped when a person turns 21. Should 16 year olds be drinking? No, of course not, but a lot of college aged kids do and parents can help teach responsibility and limits. I'm not saying that parents should encourage their kids to drink illegally, and my parents NEVER would have purchased alcohol for my brother and I illegally, but when we were college aged and on family vacations in a location (like a cruise) where the drinking age was lower than 21 we were allowed to have a drink before dinner, etc.
