A PTR for Princesses of all ages...2 days to go.. will I ever be ready??

Oh Wendy, first of all congrats to your son for making Varsity!! I'm sorry for the added stress especially when things are already busy and what short notice!!! I'm sure you will figure it all out...you are amazing that way!!

Thanks for the tip on EPCOT I really do Love Spaceship Earth also!

:goodvibes Wow, your son must be so excited! In terms of traveling for sports I happen top be pretty well accustomed. My DB who is in a D1 college now for Baseball traveled all over for Baseball while he was in High School... he played in WDW 3 years in a row, which was easy for me lol! But it is a very different experience then a normal family vacation. 1st off, your son will be very busy with practices and games so you will have some extra time without him... my DM had a tough time accepting this though lol! It can be a lot fo fun, but I wouldnt go nuts with plans b/c if they make it furhter in a tounarment there will be extra games and such... this can seriously hinder plans (imagine me in WDW with no solid plans AHHHHHHHHH) so my best advice is relax, go with the flow, and have fun! Our trips were always very fun and filled with great memories:goodvibes

So this is totally off Disney topic but is stressing me out today.... DS is a sophomore in high school... we found out last night that he has been selected to play Varsity baseball instead of JV... good for him... he works very hard and deserves it... not having played varsity before we found out this morning from the coach that the team goes to Myrtle Beach for a tournament... EASTER WEEK... and we are responsible for getting him there.... I have NEVER been to Myrtle Beach.... did you know that if you search hotels there are about 8 zillion of them.... and I only have 4 weeks to figure this all out....

First of all, congrats for your son! That's a real honor.

Second of all, I live 45 minutes from Myrtle Beach even though I'm in NC. So if you need any directions, advice, etc., I'd be happy to help. As far as hotels go, my best suggestion is Ocean Dunes or Sand Dunes--on the beach and pretty reasonable prices. For a little away from the beach, I'd suggest Premier Resorts at Barefoot Landing.

We are very proud of him.. he works very hard both at his grades and his activites!! Thank you!!

I am not to worried about him... he will be staying with the team and the coach pretty much takes care of them...feeding them, rents a house for them all to stay in, gets them to practice and the games... I am worried about DH and myself...we are clueless about this area

Would be happy to take any advice you have... will check out those two... the boys are staying at some place at the intersection of 544 and the beach...:confused3

Where do DB play... DS wants to go to a D1 school and play... although he is a much better golfer than baseball player... he broke the school records this past season for varsity golf...

Happy Friday the 13th everyone....:scared1:

Good news... I have finished paying for the trip!!!!!  Airfare, hotel, dining... I just have two tickets to order and I will order those thru General Motors as they are wayyyyyy cheaper than Disney and even undercovertourist...

Todays trivia is about MGM...oh.. I mean... Hollywood Studios... honestly it will always be MGM to me...
:surfweb:
"The idea for Disney-MGM Studios came from an idea to have a movie pavilion at Epcot. Once Imagineers realized that the range of possibilities using that theme were larger than just one attraction, the idea for a third theme park was born.

The opening press event for MGM Studios on May 1,1989 , was the largest in Walt Disney World history, with Newsweek featuring an extensive cover story touting the project a few weeks earlier. Entertainment legend Bob Hope cut the ceremonial ribbon, and Michael Eisner proudly read the dedication plaque, which reads: "The world you have entered was created by the Walt Disney Company & is dedicated to Hollywood - not a place on a map, but a state of mind that exists wherever people dream & wonder & imagine, a place where illusion & reality are fused by technological magic. We welcome you to a Hollywood that never was - and always will be.""

P.S. We are at 64 DAYS!!!!!:cheer2:

We found out the boys will be staying in the Surfside area.... we will get more information tomorrow at the meeting... I have been looking online and there are so many places... I want to be close to 544 because it will be closer to the boys and looks like easy highway access to get to the games which I guess are up by Conway... I saw a couple of places on line but it is so hard to chose... Compass Cove looked nice... and the Sands also...:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Just a bit more MGM trivia... for those that want to score high at Toy Story Mania... seems that everytime we ride one of these attractiosn (like Buzz in the Magic Kingdom) my DS smokes me at the game:confused3 ... so here is a little inside information not to share with those teenage boys who are much more experienced at video games than us older folks....:lmao:

In each of the Toy Story Mania! games, there is at least one "easter egg" -- targets that can trigger the appearance of bonus high-value targets and other changes in the scene.

Good luck and happy gaming!!!

Today I spent the morning researching the talented Dissers who make the mousekeeping envelopes..... since there are five of us in the room I was thinking $5 per day... we are really tidy ladies and even make our own beds... housekeeping really just needs to give us fresh towels and take out the trash... do you think $5 is enough??????

To my fellow travelers...Spring is in the air! We have 58 days until our trip.... one of the highlights of our trip will be a visit to the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival....

The annual Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is a celebration of life, and the beauty of nature that surrounds us all. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Fun in the Sun!” How appropriate for a Florida event!

Here is some of what we can expect to see while we are there.....

Great American Gardeners: We can see exciting demonstrations from Melinda Myers - Garden expert & TV host at 12 and 3pm.

Disney Gardening at Home:
Tips from the Tool Shed: with John Groh & Nelson Whittaker -- Easy tips to help you plan, work, and maintain your garden at 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.

Flower Power Concert series are evening musical performances by popular entertainers from the 60’s and 70’s. We can find them on the America Gardens stage across from the American Adventure. The concerts are at 4:45, 6:00, and 7:15 p.m. The weekend we are there will be Jose Feliciano

Some wonderful gardens I would like to explore are:

Fragrance Garden – Located in the France Pavilion - Your nose ‘knows’ a good thing when it smells it! A garden devoted to plants, fragrance, and perfume. We can sign up at the Geurlain Shop in La Signature for a 20-minute guided tour of the gardens at 2:00, 4:00 or 6:00 p.m. daily.

Located in the Italy Pavilion is the Amore nel Giardino (Love in the Garden) – A gorgeous look at potted floral arrangements. Get tips on the best colors and combinations to use in these Italian containers. We will also find Lady and the Tramp near the Italian Cypress.

Growing Future Gardeners – Across from the German Pavilion - A collection of gardens set to inspire family togetherness. The family that gardens together stays together! We can be a part of the Ladybug release at 1:00 & 3:00 p.m.

Located in the United Kingdom is the English Tea Garden - There is a distinct history and art to the blending of tea. Strolling through the English Tea Gardens we will see the various tea plants used in this process. There are free, 20-minute guided tours every Friday - Sunday at 2:30, 3:30 & 5 p.m. We must sign up for the tour at the Tea Caddy ahead of time.

Sounds wonderful!!! I can't wait to see your pictures, I'm sure it will be beautiful!!:cutie:

I think $5 a day for mousekeeping is enough....my DH is a bit stingy and I always stress out about that, too. But we left $5 a day on our last trip (we're a family of 5) but we're neat, too, and always pick up after ourselves, remake our beds and keep towels in a pile when we're done. I'd love to see pics of your envelopes, if you have them!!!:wizard:

i love love love the flower and garden festival! its my favorite thing and why i pressured my inlaws to go in May! Woo Hoo!

Me too!!!! I take tons of photos then have DH recreate the flower pots at my house!!! DH actually loves the flower and garden festival also.... he has never been for the Food and WIne festival... I think he would like that better!!!:lmao:

The Food and WIne festival is one of our favorites... atleast DD and myself... we have been a few times. DS is not the biggest Epcot fan but he likes it as well. DD's birthday is the first week of November and we have gone a few times for a quick Birthday weekend (4 day) trip. DH usually can't take that much time off work and it also happens to be right around hunting season so he would rather hunt than go to Disney... can't understand that but he doesn't care if we go....

We like the little carts that are all around the world showcase with small portions of food... and of course the wines... yum..... we are not big drinkers... really we hardly ever drink... so we try a few wines and are a bit tipsy by the time we hit the middle of the world showcase.... My DSis went with us last time... she is a drug and alcohol advisor for the state courts... she was just laughing at us...

A little trivia and a little whinning today....

Todays email for my traveling companions...

53 days until we are at the Mousehouse!!!

Fun awaits us in the Magic Kingdom.... and so does Buzz Lightyear... What a fun attraction this is...Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin opened on October 7, 1998..... but how do you rack up the points on this moving arcade game... here are some hints....

Bet you didn't know that there is a target in the first room worth a whopping 100,000 points! When you enter the first target room, look for the big orange robot on your left. As you pass it, spin around and shoot at the target on it's left arm. Then, as you leave the first shooting area, there is a "Z" target on the ceiling above you. If you hit the target directly in the center with the laser, you get 100,000 points per hit.

Z" is for the evil, Emperor Zurg. As we travel through the attraction, use your blasters to shoot the Zs, which represent Zurg's evil forces. TIP: See if you can hit the farthest, smallest Zs. These are worth the most points. Also keep the trigger pulled, it will keep firing.

Now that I know the secrets maybe I can challenge DS... he always max's out the points half way thru the ride.....:lmao:

Now for the little whinning... it is COLD here... 15 degrees:scared1:.... I can't wait to go on vacation.... Myrtle Beach in April and WDW in May.... gotta be warmer than it is here....

okay whinning is complete... for today anyway...:rotfl:

Great Buzz tip..never knew that...maybe there is hope for me, yet!!:lmao:

I hear you with the cold....it's a balmy 31 here today and the wind gusts are out of control....it's FREEZING!!!!!!!:cold: Wishing for the Spring weather to just get here already!!!!!! BTW, so jealous you have 2 warm trips coming up!!!!!:worship:

I am excited also but kind of freaking out about the Myrtle Beach trip... like most Dissers... we are planning freaks.:surfweb:.. and I know NOTHING about Myrle beach... not where to eat, where to stay, what to do.:confused3... I did take the recommendation of my DD boyfriends family on a hotel... its actually a one bedroom condo on the beach... are you ready for this... $490 for 6 nights:banana:...that includes tax.... can you imagine... I am so used to WDW prices I couldn't believe it...:lmao:
