Last year, I was unable to take my grandson on his fishing excursion, but I was able to keep that promise on this trip. We awoke on Monday morning early, and my grandson and I went fishing at the "Ole Fishin Hole" at Port Orleans Riverside, where we were staying. He caught 3 rather small fish. The fishing excursion, was set up to begin at 10 a.m. Our fishing guide, Todd, arrived at 9:45 a.m., by 10:10 a.m. my grandson had caught his first Bass. It measured just above the 20 inch mark. You can have up to 5 people on a fishing excursion, and we had only two. Todd was a great guide. He will do everything for you, but he let's you reel in the fish. You can of course do all that fishy stuff, yourself if you want. My grandson, loves to fish, so he came back, smelling like them. After two hours of fishing, he had caught 5 bass, all about 20 inches and 7 bluegill, all about 2 pounds. The catfish were smart that day, so we did not catch Todd's "Triple".
After a beautiful, warm sunny morning, we were off to Epcot, to meet mom, who had spent the morning at Magic Kingdom. Epcot was very crowded. We were unable to get fastpasses for Soarin, so we decided to split up. We would meet later at Magic Kingdom. This is where, you are thankful for the technology of cell phones.
I bought an Epcot Passport, upon arrival at Epcot, and I visited both the UK and Canada, before exiting at the International Gateway. I walked from Epcot to the Beach CLub. This was my first experience doing this. The walk is short, and very enjoyable. I had my taste buds all primed for a burger at Beaches and Cream. The restaurant was crowded, but I sat at the counter and thouroughly enjoyed my burger. I watched 2 Kitchen Sinks being made.
I stayed a little while at the Beach Club, to check it out. We would be switching over there at the end of the week. Very nice hotel. Great swimming area.
I found the bus stop, and I boarded the bus for the Magic Kingdom. The minute that I arrived at the Magic Kingdom, it began to rain. I ended up in Fantasyland, and went into Mickey's PhilHarMagic, which had a very short wait. This surprised me, since Magic Kingdom was packed.
I met up with my grandson and his momma later, and we were in Liberty Square, when the parade time came. I really enjoyed Spectro Magic. We were right by the Liberty Bell, and we had a great view.
We were able to do Haunted Mansion, and finally saw the hidden Mickey on the dinner table.
We watched Wishes, from the castle forecourt. Too close for me. I prefer the view from the train station.
Now it was time to go get wrist bracelets. Magic Kingdom would be open until 2 a.m. Too late for my tired feet. After a very late meal at Pecos Bill's we headed over to Tomorrowland, as Spectro Magic was running for the second time. We had some fun on the BUzz Lightyear Ride. I passed on the Stitch Attraction. My grandson and his mom gave it a thumbs down. By this time, we decided to go check out the characters by the castle. We were able to get autographs and pictures with Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Max and a few others.
Our feet said "GO HOME", so we headed for the exits.
All in all, our first day in the theme parks was very enjoyable. It would have been a 10 for me, but I am still looking for Jiminy.
