A Princess' First Trip - My October 2013 PTR - Updated 04-15-13(Schedule and ADR's)

DD was well enough to go trick or treating! I'll do a whole post about Halloween, including pictures of our Mickey, Minnie and Pluto pumpkins.

For now, here's a teaser pic of DD from trick or treating tonight!

Happy that she at least got to go trick or treating. Sometimes, a kid gets so excited about a special event that he throws up. But he will be fine again after a couple of hours. It's excitement.

Congrats on getting your UG 2013... I need to look at release dates, because I am hoping the 2014 version comes out with pleanty of time to read it and study it before October... Because I am hoping to have the Fantasyland updates. This might actually be the year I splurge on an up to date Passporter... I usually buy them on clearance when they go on sale for $1, and even though it's last year's edition - there is still a ton of useful information. I tend to buy my personal limit (I think they limit you to 5?), and then as friends and family tell me they are going through out the year, I hand them out. It's a great gift! :)

Love the photo of your dd holding the UG too...

Maybe, if you don't want to invest in party tickets for her... What if she went to MK that day? With out tickets, she can stay in the park until 7pm, and even though there isn't any halloween festivities until the party starts, they still have it all decorated - and that might be just enough for her?

I can't wait until refurbs are released... I know we won't have to worry about Splash being refurbed while we are there - but every single trip we have ever gone on (except Oct 08) BTMRR has been refurbed - so I am a bit nervous about that one. BTMRR isn't a trip breaker or anything (not like Splash would be - and one of the reasons I swtiched from March to Oct), but I would really like to ride it again someday.

D~

I'm pretty sure (judging by Amazon release dates ;) ) that the new editions come out around August the previous year. So we October-ers should be set! I think I'm going to splurge on the Color Companion (just waiting to see if they come out with a new one) because the kids will LOVE it.

I'm hoping BTMRR will be open for our trip - Jelly is the most excited about it too! It was my favorite as a kid - I remember when I was around PB's age, riding it during the fireworks and thinking they were going to hit me!

Glad she got to trick or treat! We don't go until Saturday night... The wait is excruciating! ;)

It might have been excitement or it might have been a bug. I had been up throwing up all night on Sunday night so that was only of the big reasons we decided to keep her out of school.

I think I need to get the UG color companion - maybe I can get it for DD for Christmas.

I really hope BTMRR isn't down over our trip - it's DH favorite ride. It went down for rehab for our 2007 trip - we actually went to MK on our first day just so we could ride BTMRR before it went down.

Me too! It was down for my DH & DS's first trip in Feb and I really want them both to experience it this time!

The day has finally arrived that this trip will no longer but a dream but actually will be reality.

I'm booking today!!! We use a travel agent and I'll be calling her after work to put down our deposit! pixiedust: I'm so excited!!

I've also been shopping the after Halloween sales and I managed to get DD a Minnie Mouse and a Cinderella costume for less than $10 for both. Here's her as grumpy Minnie :goodvibes

Congrats on booking...

Grumpy Mouse is adorable~ LOL

D~

Sorry I've been MIA. I've been in California and only got back today. So I'm catching up on my threads.

YAY for booking!!! And your grumpy minnie is so adorable!

Thanks everyone! She likes the Cinderella costume better because it isn't itchy. It's a little big right now, but it will fit great in 11 months!

I'm so excited that we've booked. It's real now! Alas, DH is already sick of the Disney talk :rotfl:

Yay! For booking and awesome score on the costumes! I looked and looked for good deals....but it is hard to find Disney boy costumes. They always have tons of princess stuff, but not much for my little guy :sad2: I actually drove 2 hours one way to our nearest Disney store the weekend after Halloween to see what I could find and they didn't have anything. Not even cute little fall ear hats :confused3 Love her grumpy face! Still cute when she's grumpy princess:

Thanks solana131 - we actually saw a Woody costume at Walmart and DD wanted it but it was only a 2T. She was bummed she couldn't have it.

But that was pretty much the only Disney boy's costume I saw. Unless you count the Star Wars costumes :darth:

Here's a picture of her in the Cindy dress - it's a little big :)

Things have been busy as we approached the holidays. We spent Thanksgiving with my aunt, uncle, cousins and their kids in GA and it was very nice.

Halloween is my favorite holiday so I just took down my Halloween stuff yesterday since we got our tree yesterday. I told DD that the next time we took out the Halloween stuff it would almost be time to go to Disney World!

Here's a few pictures of DD and our Christmas tree!

Now that we are booked, I'm trying to start to figure out a plan for each day. We aren't touring plans people but we do figure out what park for what day and do the ADR thing. We are going to use the Dining

DD is not a super picky eater. She will eat a variety of things and will attempt to try new things, especially if they are on mommy or daddy's plate. Though if she had a choice, she'd eat hot dogs and chicken nuggets everyday.

So I know that I want to do Chef Mickey's for dinner on our arrival day. MK day we will be doing Crystal Palace and DHS we will be doing 50's Prime Time Cafe (DH's favorite). AK day we aren't going to do TS at the parks.

So we have a couple of days in there where we can eat elsewhere, like the resorts. My favorite meal for our honeymoon was Ohana - the food was great, the view was amazing and we got to see Wishes.

But I'm not sure how much DD would like it and I'm not sure if I want to try something different. We will have one TS meal besides, so we could try a different place another day.

Beyond that, I don't have much of a plan yet. I need to try and figure out what day would be the mostly likely day that MNSSHP would happen and then go from there.

Here's a picture of DD at Denny's the other day. We love their Hobbit inspired menu.

Good set of ADRs.

Tusker House at AK is good for breakfast. Might be worth considering.

Your ADRs sound perfect - very similar to what we plan to do.

I highly recommend breakfast at Tusker House... their stuffed banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce is TDF!

D~

I've heard mixed things about AK TS places - which is why we are probably going to skip in favor of eating elsewhere. AK is a half day park for us anyway.

Your ADRs sound good. I too am not a touring plan type person, but I like to set a rough schedule for what park on what day etc.

Maybe try Kona. You can still get the Poly atmosphere...and they have mickey shaped ravioli for the kids menu! The bread alone is enough to keep me coming back! Then you can go down to the beach and watch Wishes.

Via Napoli and Boma are two more of my favorites. Boma would be a good choice for your AK day since you are over that way anyway. Don't let the "African" inspired menu scare you, there are plenty of mellow choices. And they have a whole section devoted to regular american kids stuff. Yum yum yum! I can't wait to go back and eat. I swear, I could spend every day at MK until noon then just eat the rest of the day :thumbsup2

One of the things we aren't sure about is how DD will react to the characters at Disney, but I'm feeling hopeful that she won't be too shy about it.

About a month ago a new McDonald's opened up near our house. They had opening specials and they had Ronald McDonald there to meet and greet. DD wasn't quite sure about Ronald, but the guy was super friendly and she couldn't stop watching him. She also picked seats that were close to where he was. She gave him a high five and she was delighted when he did the quarter behind your ear magic trick.

I thought this was great and hope that she'll be friendly with the Disney characters. Now, today is family dinner night at a local grocery store / cafe and they had special activities plus pictures with Santa. DD has never sat on Santa's lap or stood for pictures without mommy or daddy there. But tonight she went up to him, sat on his lap and told him what she wanted for Christmas.

So hopefully she'll be as un-shy with Mickey Mouse and the others.

She also got a balloon sword and she got her face painted (it's hard to see, but it's a pink heart). It was a fun evening because we also got to see some friends as well.
