A Princess' First Trip - My October 2013 PTR - Updated 04-15-13(Schedule and ADR's)

I'll be posting a recap of DD's costume birthday party later today, but we got a special surprise in the mail yesterday that I wanted to post about first.

I asked in the Fairy Godmother thread if someone could send DD a postcard from the World for her birthday since it's a year until our big trip.

I had been keeping an eye out on the mail since I knew it was close to when our Fairy Godmother would be in the world. And yesterday, after a full day at the zoo, this arrived.

The back of the card had a message from Snow White saying how she heard DD is coming to Disney and how she can't wait to meet her.

DD's response - "That is so cool!" pixiedust:

Now our Disney trip (which we still haven't booked yet - that's next month) is now starting to feel like it will really happen!

Awww... I love the post card idea! How sweet!

Can't wait to hear about the party! :)

I love that people are willing to do that - it really helped make DD's day!

Teaser for the party - there were 3 Snow Whites there though one never got filmed :goodvibes

I love Halloween so I was thrilled when DD was born in October. For the last few years, we had been doing park playdates, but that didn't turn out so well last year. So when I asked DD what kind of party she wanted this year, I was so excited when she requested a costume/Halloween themed party.

Since we live in NC, the weather is usually okay for an outdoor party. We got DD a big swingset over the summer and our yard is plenty big, so the party was going to be at our house.

DD started preschool this year so we invited the kids in her class as well as a few other people. My in-laws drove down from Michigan to make the party complete. As the day dawn, it looked like rain and actually did rain a little so we set up the food table in our carport. I also brought out some toys for the kids to play with in case of rain.

The party started at 2 pm and it wasn't too long before the first kids starting arriving. It was sprinkling so they started playing in the carport. But once most of the guests had arrived, DD wanted to show her friend her swing set so off to the backyard they went.

DD was dressed as Snow White and one of her friends also came as Snow White. I also was Snow but we didn't get any pictures of me. All the kids were in costume which was very adorable. We let the kids play for a while and then we had food.

I have several Halloween themed cookie cutters, one that is in the shape of a bat. So DH used the cookie cutter to make hamburger patties in the shape of bats. He called them bat sliders. We also had veggies, fruit and lemonade and even ice cubes in the shape of pumpkins and skulls.

DD loved the Halloween pinatas at Walmart so we got her one for her birthday. She picked out the ghost and we gave each of the kids the change to break open the pinata. The kids didn't make a dent into it, so DH tried. He overestimated his strength and cracked it open with one swing. Thankfully it didn't hit anyone when it fell and the kids had fun filling their bags up with candy.

Once everyone ate and we cracked open the pinata, we got the cake out and sang 'Happy Birthday'. The cake had one of DD's favorite princesses, Tiana, on it. It was very colorful and pretty yummy.

It was then time for presents and DD got some help unwrapping them. She got lots of lovely things but her favorite was the Disney Princess Little People Castle from her aunt and uncle.

The party broke up at the point but DD played a while with the kids that could stick around. She declared it was the best birthday party ever and I think it turned out pretty well!

Aww... How adorable... Look at all those little Snows.

Loved the bat sliders - LOL

Glad your dd had a wonderful birthday! :)

It was a great party! Though I'm glad that we won't have to do a party next year. Though DD had a great enough time that she told me that Disney wasn't special enough today :rotfl: Little does she know what treats she's in for next year.

That's a cool party and your DD looks great in costume. Nice swing set too.

Not long before we can book. :thumbsup2

Well, I could book now but money's been tight especially with DD's birthday. A couple of weeks and we'll have the money. :cool1:

Joining in from the FB group too :wave2: Love that you did a recap of your honeymoon trip....so jealous! And what a great idea to have Snow White send your DD a postcard! I'll have to remember that for my little guy.

My son started Kindergarten this fall and he will be six in 3 weeks. People kept trying to get me to test him and get him in last year before he was 5...but I am fine with him being one of the oldest in the class. I would rather him be constantly ahead of his group than always falling behind because he started too early.

It's funny that you talk about loving a Halloween birthday....my due date with DS was actually on Halloween! I prayed and prayed that I would be late because we already have one shared holiday/bday (DH is Christmas) and I hate it. It was exactly a week after my due date that they had to get him out by emergency c-section! I learned to be careful what I wished for.

Can't wait to see more of your plans once you get them down. I'm holding off with the booking too, but we will be there Oct 16-23rd. But you already know that :upsidedow

:welcome: solana131!

DD was actually born on her due date (4 years ago today!) - I was induced because of an issue - she was missing a blood vessel going to the placenta which could cause problems if she went too much over. She was quite happy staying where she was at though, so I had to have a c-section.

I have no issues with DD being the oldest in her class. I had a friend who was really upset when she found out that her daughter would be 'held back' - but her daughter's birthday is in November and the cutoff here in NC is August 31st.

Been busy, busy here as we finished up DD's birthday and are getting ready for Halloween.

Not much of an update but I got my Unofficial Guide for 2013 this week and it is huge! I read my 2007 version so much that it is nearly falling apart so I had to get the 2013 version since so much has changed. 2013 is so much thicker than 2007 and I haven't made much of a dent in it.

DD likes stealing it from me and looking at the maps and little cartoons in it.

The time is inching closer but we should be booking in a couple of weeks! :dance3: Then I'll go into mega planning mode as I try to decide on what park each day as well as TS.

I was on the Disney website yesterday and DD was clicking around when I got up. She found a video for MNSSHP and said she wanted to do that.

Now my husband thinks she is too little and won't be able to stay up long enough to get our money's worth out of the party. I'm okay with that since A) it won't be our only trip and B) I get to go to the party no matter what since our plan was for me to go solo (DH will get to do something special, like go golfing, during the day). I told DD that it was up to her to convince DH that she was big enough to go. We'll see how that goes!

Love that picture of your DD.

A shame that your DH thinks DD is too young for the MNSSHP; but he might be right on the money this time. But I'm glad that you'll have time to go on your own and enjoy the celebration.

Congrats on getting your UG 2013... I need to look at release dates, because I am hoping the 2014 version comes out with pleanty of time to read it and study it before October... Because I am hoping to have the Fantasyland updates. This might actually be the year I splurge on an up to date Passporter... I usually buy them on clearance when they go on sale for $1, and even though it's last year's edition - there is still a ton of useful information. I tend to buy my personal limit (I think they limit you to 5?), and then as friends and family tell me they are going through out the year, I hand them out. It's a great gift! :)

Love the photo of your dd holding the UG too...

Maybe, if you don't want to invest in party tickets for her... What if she went to MK that day? With out tickets, she can stay in the park until 7pm, and even though there isn't any halloween festivities until the party starts, they still have it all decorated - and that might be just enough for her?

I can't wait until refurbs are released... I know we won't have to worry about Splash being refurbed while we are there - but every single trip we have ever gone on (except Oct 08) BTMRR has been refurbed - so I am a bit nervous about that one. BTMRR isn't a trip breaker or anything (not like Splash would be - and one of the reasons I swtiched from March to Oct), but I would really like to ride it again someday.

D~

PrincessInOz - I think she'd be able to do most of the party, partly because she has stayed up until 10 pm in the past. She'd crash afterwards, but she's done it already and she'll be a whole year older by our trip. But it's up to her to convince him which should be interesting to watch :goodvibes

DMGeurts - I think the UG comes out in August, so you'd probably have plenty of time to get the 2014 version. I might get a Passporter - I got one for our honeymoon and I didn't end up writing in it much. But we'll probably have a lot more downtime this trip for breaks and naps.

Joining in from the October Facebook group! I'm Stephanie D. on FB. I will go back and catch up soon!

Just stopping by to wish you a Happy Halloween!

D~

Alas, not much of a happy Halloween here :( DD threw up so she has to miss her preschool party and trick or treating tonight

She's actually feeling better and might be well enough to go trick or treating. It's happened in the past that she'll get sick but then be fine - she ate a decent lunch so I'm waiting to see what happens.
