A Princess' First Trip - My October 2013 PTR - Updated 04-15-13(Schedule and ADR's)

Precious! I love Santa pictures! :) The first trip we did, the girls were 4 & 5... The first few characters, they were a bit shy... but once they saw what was going on, and all the other little kids doing it - they were more than happy to meet all the characters they could. :)

D~

I'm hoping she'll like the characters - she already talks about wanting to meet various characters - mostly Mickey.

I hope your DD enjoys meeting the characters too. My DS was great with Mickey.....the others? Not so great. But he was fine about it by the time he got to 8.

We'll see how it goes. I figure if she can be friendly with Ronald McDonald who is a clown, she can be friendly with Disney characters :goodvibes

Your daughter is so precious with Santa. She'll do fine with the Disney characters.

We are big fans of ice cream. DD is especially looking forward to eating her first Mickey ice cream bar.

Since we live in NC, it's not terribly cold out. It was in the 70's this weekend, so we decided to go down to Kilwin's.

DH and I grew up in Michigan and Kilwin's is a little piece of home. It's the only place that I can get Mackinaw Island Fudge ice cream and it's very yummy.

Afterwards, DD wanted her picture with the statues outside the shop.

We are deep into Christmas planning and haven't done much with our Disney plans. Once the new year starts, I'm going to start to make our plans so we can be ready when 180 days hit.

Adorable photo of your dd.

I am feeling the same - I am also in the middle of Christmas, and not much trip planning is happening.

D~

Ice cream is good any time of the year. Even in the dead of winter up here in Maine, I still get ice cream. It actually makes me feel warmer because it makes me think of summer!

Things have been crazy as I try to get ready for Christmas and I haven't done much with Disney planning lately.

My in-laws might be joining us for our trip. Not terribly thrilled about it for several reasons but we will still have a good time.

But I'm glad it is nearly Christmas - I'm so looking forward to watching the Disney Christmas Day with DD tomorrow. I still can't hardly believe that we are actually going back to Disney World in a little over 9 months.

DD is having a very merry Disney Christmas. Most of her presents from Santa are Jake and the Neverland Pirates. She is getting the ship as well as several of the little figures to go with it. She has been looking at it in the store for weeks now.

Here's a picture of her with our outdoor lights:

Once 2013 arrives, DH and I are going to sit down and start to make our plans so we can be ready to make ADR's. DH has requested that we eat dinner at BOG on our MK day.

Beyond that, we are going to eat at Chef Mickey's and I'd like to eat at Ohana. We'll work on a plan once the holidays are over and things get back to normal.

Awesome Christmas picture! Just stopping by to wish you a...

Merry Christmas, DMGeurts and PrincessInOz!

PrincessInOz - It's still Christmas Eve morning here - I'm still working but it's very slow. I've been watching the NORAD Santa tracker though as Santa makes his journey throughout the world :goodvibes

Christmas is over and I'm looking forward to the new year since it's the Year of Disney for us :goodvibes

But I thought I'd post about how our Christmas went. :santa:

DD just started preschool this year so she had her first Christmas program a few weeks ago. Each class sung song while the kindergarten class had the speaking parts. DD's class were shepherds who sang 'Away in the Manger'. It was really cute!

For Christmas, we had a pretty laid back holiday. We went to church on Christmas Eve and DD got to open one present when we got home, which was her Christmas pj's.

She was up at 6:30 am on Christmas morning (which is about the same time she usually get's up) and opened her presents from Santa. She got a lot of Disney stuff - her biggest and favorite being the ship from Jake and the Neverland pirates.

Our closest family is 3 1/2 hours away with most of our family being 12 hours away. I had to work the next day, so we opted to stay home. DH made a ham dinner with all the fixings and we just vegged out while DD played with her toys.

We did watch the Disney Christmas parade, which made DD and I excited for our upcoming trip. And I watched Doctor Who in the evening while DH went to the movies.

We also got to Skype with my in-laws as well as DD's cousins. That was fun :)

Here's a few pictures from Christmas morning:

Those are darling pictures of your DD....so cute!

Merry Christmas and here's to a Disney filled 2013!

Your daughter must have had a good Christmas.

I know your daughter is exactly two weeks older than my DGD. However DGD won't go to pre-school until next year and won't go to kindergarten until the following year. Cut off point between classes is end of September.

Is your daughter going to kindergarten next year or will she go to pre-school for two years?

Thanks PrincessInOz!

LadyBeBop - The cutoff for kindergarten in NC is you have to be 5 by August 31st, so DD misses that by about a month and a half. So she'll be in preschool again next year (in a pre-k class) and then start kindy in 2014.

She could have started preschool when she was 2, but DH and I felt that was too young. The fact that she'll still be in preschool next year was one of the factors that went into deciding on going to Disney next year since she won't be in public school and it will be easier to take her out of school.

Your cutoff point is even earlier than Kentucky's. DD24's birthday is Sept 15. We pushed her through. Hindsight is 20/20, as she could have benefited from the extra year. But she was a huge 4 year old...she would have been a monster 5 year old.

DGD was just put into an all day day care (she was at a private home). I guess you can call it preschool, but technically, we don't call it preschool until next year (you'd call it pre-K).

Same here. We didn't want to take her out in kindergarten and have her miss something. DD24 got chicken pox the first month of kindergarten, and she never quite caught up until after Christmas. She caught it from DD25 who got it the very first week of first grade, and she didn't catch up until after Christmas as well. She got exposed the very last day of summer day care.

DH claims that he doesn't like Disney as much as I do. While that may be true, he likes it more than he lets on. He has a favorite ride (BTMRR), a favorite restaurant (50's Prime Time Diner in DHS) and does like many of the Disney movies.

While I was working yesterday, he and DD were out running errands. They went to the local consignment store and found a Disney stuffed animal.

Originally DH thought it was the King from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but after a little looking, it's Prince John from Robin Hood. Both are Disney classics that I was surprised that they made stuffed animals for. I looked at the tag and the toy is from the Disney Store, but it didn't have a date.

Of course, my DH bought the toy (for him, not DD :rotfl:) - it's in great shape and was only $5. And we went out and bought Bedknobs and Broomsticks on DVD.

Before we go to Disney World, there are several Disney movies DD needs to see. The Little Mermaid is a big one, but it's one of the movies that we don't have on DVD and it's currently in the vault. We also need to sit down and watch The Lion King and Aladdin, but we have both of those. DD saw those before but it's been a while.

What Disney movies are on the top of your rewatch list?

My list?

Anything Pixar.
The Aristocats.
101 Dalmations.
Jungle Book.
Peter Pan.
Alice.

That's a great plush find. And great price. Good on your DH for snaffling it!
