A Pre Thanksgiving/Christmas Vacation, Our First Split Stay & Our 5th Trip to Disney!

Good morning PTR friends! :goodvibes

Busy morning here running errands - bank, grocery store, ordering DS7's birthday cake. His party is 2 weeks from tomorrow. I can't believe my baby is going to be 8. :sad1: DS10 has soccer practice tonight and then they both have their first games of the season Sunday! :cheer2: Can't wait!!

Thanks for all the great IllumiNations tips everyone! :thumbsup2

So where will we be eating our CS meals at?

Well I'm sure we will eat at the POR Food Court about 2-3 times at least. We are planning for Pizzafari in AK. Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD. Casey's Corner and Cosmic Ray's in MK. We will probably eat at Good's To Go at OKW at least once. And we are still undecided on a CS place at DHS. I'd like to take a break from Toy Story Pizza Planet. So it looks like we are down to either - Studio Catering Co, Backlot Express, or ABC Commissary. I have heard good and bad things about all of them, and truthfully mostly bad! What is it with DHS and CS restaurants? Any opinions or experiences at any of these places???

Okay, now I have to go find something for lunch. I am suddenly hungry. . . :confused3:rotfl:

We went to Backlot Express last year. I got a weird grilled turkey and cheese with peppers or something. I wasn't happy, but everyone else was. I think they all got cheeseburgers, and there is a topping bar area. What was nice that if after you order, turn around, walk back and to the left and if the back door is open, you can watch the Jedi training if it's going on.

Shelly - I like Wolfgang Puck Express - it was consistent in quality and taste like his other restaurants and places I have been to out here. Loved Earl of Sandwich - that place rocked. My wife loved that turkey cranberry thing she had. I can't remember what I had exactly - something with beef I think, but it was good. My boys loved what they had too, but can't remember it. LOL. Didn't like the mexican food place outside of Mexico at Epcot - I am sure that is a surprise. Peco's Bill was OK - nothing really memorable, just edible. Personally, I think you can get better food in the hotels than at the parks. I think Epcot has the best in food selection than any of the other parks. We did really enjoy SciFi Dine In at DHS.

Oh the boys would like that, they are huge Star Wars fans! :yoda:

I agree with you on the hotels having better food, especially as far as CS goes. We would rather eat at the resort food court any day over most CS places in the parks.

I think WPE is the best CS in DTD. We tried Earl once and weren't impressed. My sandwich, which was supposed to be warm wasn't. And DS's pb&j sandwich was warm and the pb was running out of it :scared:. They were very busy and the service was poor. I'd probably be willing to give it another try though. Not Cookes of Dubiln though - Gross!!

I can't wait to get a milkshake at Sci-Fi!! :cloud9:

Shelly,

We are huge fans of Wolfgang Puck Express.... great pizza, chicken, salads... and the portions are very large you would be able to split a few and save a couple of your counter services for the last day when you go to OKW....

Shelly - The strategy we use when we go to a theme park is to eat a big breakfast and snack during the day, then eat a early dinner, like around 4:00 or 4:30. If you have a limited time in a theme park, then sitting down and eating can use up your available ride time.

The Chocolate Mousse at the ABC Commissary is good (I know that's not really a solution, because it's a dessert). I think the Studio Catering Co. is probably the best place, but it opens later and closes earlier than the other places.

I think WPE is the best CS in DTD.

It definitely is the best value on the Dining Plan. Our bill there would have been as much as some of the TS restaurants we ate at, and the portion sizes are huge.

We usually skip breakfast (well the boys eat cereal bars or granola bars in the room), then we stop for a quick early lunch and then usually have an early TS dinner - around 5:00.

Except for the days we have a breakfast ADR, then things are all thrown off! :rotfl:

Wow everyone seems to love WPE! :goodvibes We have loved it both times we have been there. We skipped it last time to try Cookes, that was a mistake!

I hear you on wanting to skip Pizza Planet :rolleyes1
We snacked at Backlot Express last trip- had to do something to pass the time between tries at getting DS in the Jedi show. I the kids got the same old chicken strips you get anywhere but they weren't bad. DH and I only had the fries and some soda.

I'll be the opposite on Wolfgang though. We ate there on our honeymoon in 2001 and didn't care for it. Perhaps we'll give it a shot again next time. We didn't like Earl either but at least we didn't get warm PB- ewwwwww! Who eats warm PB??? (no offense if there is actually someone out there who does!;) )

Is the Studio Catering Co. the little place with picnic tables~kinda katty-korner to the B&B auditorium? I hope they don't close too early!! That was our dinner plan on our DHS day! We have the 50s place at 11:45 for lunch and was planning to eat here and jump over to the Osborne lights.I guess if that is closed we will just watch the lights and go the the Cont and eat in the food court.
Oh, Shelly! A milkshake sounds soooo good!!!!

:goodvibes
You don't have to be a MAYer, MAYer (Meaning- going in MAY) to join us in our talks. Yes we have history- all of us together- but we are always welcoming new members.

Pop in and stay awhile with us.:goodvibes

(Sorry Shel-- Off topic, I know)--

Okay, now back to our regularly scheduled Pre Trip report. WE need an update, Miss Thang.

Jo

No, unfortunately the OP doesn't post much anymore. :confused3 She pops in once in awhile, so do some of the other "originals". But there are some of us that just never leave!!! :rotfl:

And yes, as JO said - feel free to post, we like new MAYers!

Yes, we definitely had more fun sitting with you guys than watching ITTBAB! :rotfl:

I think we were somewhere near there the one time we did watch IllumiNations, but we somehow ended up having that big awning from the boat dock in our way. :confused3 And we were not up by the fence. We really need to get there earlier and hunt out a good spot!

Yep, I will definitely take lots of Osborne Lights pics! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the welcome! :goodvibes

I've only been reading the MAYer thread for a few days, and I already know who the class clown is! :joker:

Y'all are hilarious!

Jo-I won't hold it against you that you are a Florida fan! ;)

Tiger bait! Tiger bait! :rotfl2:

Who eats warm PB???

I do! I do! :yay:

Grilled peanut butter (like grilled cheese~but with peanut butter and without the cheese) is delicious!!!

Oh! And peanut butter cups instead of chocolate bars on s'mores are delicious, too. They get all soft and melty...yummy! :cloud9:

And peanut butter M&Ms are to die for warm (like if they were sitting in your car on a hot day :rolleyes1).

I'm a weirdie. I'm okay with that. :lmao:

Grabbed your PTR link off the November 2009 countdown, looking forward to seeing how your plans evolve. :earsboy:

Well dang-- I didn't realize we MAYers had said anything funny over the course of the last few days.:confused3
It's actually been slow today in that thread. Hum... who knew?

Anywho... that comment about Tiger bait was highly uncalled for, but since you are thinking of pledging the MAYers, I shall over look it.:snooty:

:rotfl2:

Shelly--- why oh why can't I ever remember the name of the place we eat at in DHS? You know. We've talked about it before. Was it Studio catering? I think it was. And I've never eaten at WPE-- only the dining room. I have to do the express next time.
After seeing your list of restaurants, I started counting all the places we've eaten. It was shocking. I think we need a discount, we've been to so many!:rotfl2:

Trix.......:cloud9: love peanut butter. Peanut M&Ms, Peanut butter cups, peanut butter hot, peanut butter cold.... love it all. Nothing like hot toast with Pnut butter on it, all melty.

Yum.

Now... everyone be good and wish my Gators the best of luck tomorrow.

Kiss, kiss.

:rotfl:

Jo
