Congrats on your peak week! I've said it before and I'll say it again...it's extra awesome you can get it done during this crummy weather.
I know you are a dog person, but I thought maybe you could use this...
I had a cat growing up (Oliver...Disney connection!) and love them.

I especially love Grumpy Cat!
Yes on the burnout. We did our 10 today and plan for 20 tomorrow and I soooo do not want to do it. If not for Dooey 2018, I'd also be saying no to marathons and I may anyway even with Dopey 2018. Halfs are just so much more pleasant and fun - both in the training and the racing.
Anyway, enjoy your time off and your taper!!
I'm still in the "no more marathons" mindset. I thought for sure I'd do 2018 for the 25th medal, but I don't see that happening. Maybe I'll be mentally recovered enough for the 30th anniversary in 2023 or whatever.
You are totally right about halfs being more pleasant...I cannot WAIT to transition to Princess training!!
Awe man
@Ariel484, the struggle is real. And I've not trained for a full but knowing the mental games I've played with myself training for halfs, well while I can't truly understand, I can imagine.
Heck, I'm thinking I really love the 10K distance more than the half! I did the GSC in 2016 and loved the 10K-it was fun and I just loved the route!
Anyway, I'm sure both you and ZellyB are going to do great!
I could totally see myself sticking to the 10K distance. It's far enough that I feel I still get a good workout but I don't have to run for HOURS. And I am with you on the 10K courses at Disney being awesome. You need to try a
Disneyland 10K someday, those are awesome! So much park time.
As I have never trained for a marathon, I haven't experienced what you have, but I have had plenty of half marathon training cycles where I just want the whole thing to be over, so I can only imagine how I would feel that in a bigger way for a marathon. I hope you have a fun getaway. And I love that you mentioned Crazy Ex-Girlfiend. One of my very favorite shows. I have a major crush on Santino Fontana (I hope he comes back!!).
Honeslty, I don't remember it ever being this bad for me. This is marathon training cycle #4 for me and I don't remember hating it this much at the end of the others.

The back issues are making this one totally different, I guess...that and the fact that I am just SO SLOW. It's getting old.
YES to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend!!

Mr. A and I are obsessed! I downloaded the Season 1 soundtrack.

I need Santino to come back, like, yesterday. It was so funny because my husband and I were watching the show and I was just like... "Can you look up the guy that plays Greg on IMDB?" because his voice sounded familiar. As soon as he said "Santino" I knew who it was!! I love his "piano bar" song in Season 1 and his drinking song in Season 2. I really hope he comes back.
Don't beat yourself up over feeling DONE and burned out. It's common to feel that way, and if you've decided there are no more marathons in your future, that's okay too. Not everyone is a marathon runner or a Dopey runner, no matter how hard Disney sometimes tries to tell us otherwise while waiting in our corrals.
Why, whatever do you mean?!
Be comfortable doing what's best for you & what makes you want to keep doing it again, and don't let anyone tell you different.
Thanks. I think I need a good long break after this one, for sure.
Head up...focus on what it will feel like when you are crossing that finish line. Your can do this.
Thank you, I really appreciate the enouragement.
I always figure shortening or cutting a run you aren't feeling is for the better in the long run. No need to force a run that could lead to more stress (&/or injury) in getting to & finishing Dopey. Marathon training is tough (especially with winter weather) & you've put in a lot of miles & have experience so just focus on enjoying it & take each race 1 mile at a time & you'll do great! My Dopey training got derailed last Nov getting injured for this year, & it was that base training in the summer/early fall that got me through, which is what you already have built up
Thanks!! I appreciate such kind words.

I hope you are right about the base training!
As for corrals just focus on you & don't compare (maybe you don't anyway) to anyone else, but I know it's soooo easy to compare to everyone on here who are posting their corrals, just know you are honest to your abilities & own it! You are not defined by your corral letter

, It's just your start time I figure & nothing else.
I think I had unrealistic expectations with the corrals and just let it mess with me - mistake!! You are right that it's just a start time, though - and really, compared to the corral that I (for some reason?!) thought I was going to be in, I'm starting like 10 minutes later, which is really not a big deal.
Own your times, your races, your abilities & now enjoy the taper & the experience of Dopey! oh & Just think of us back home who are jealous of your Dopiness! Maybe the lucky skirt is just the ticket too for the marathon!
Thank you!! I think you are right about the lucky skirt...maybe I'll give people headaches/hurt their eyes with that outfit, but I need the luck!
Hey Shannon! Sorry to hear you're struggling with your burn out what, you know what? I think that's totally normal and totally okay. I'm actually sitting on the couch typing this after deciding that 20 miles isn't happening for me this weekend. We're getting wet weather/snow all weekend so I understand that having to fight with less than ideal weather doesn't help. I bet you'll still get wrapped up in the excitement and enjoy (most of) your Dopey experience (because I don't know anyone who enjoys mile 20-25 of a marathon!)
Yeah, that weather is so tough. I hate that I couldn't "tough it out," but...well, it's really crappy!

If I weren't running at Disney I think I would be screwed, but running in my favorite place will definitely help me.
