A Pink Pixie Princess - Complete!

I don't think I had mentioned it yet! Since I loved my butterfly outfit so much, I decided to go with a butterfly theme for Princess weekend. :butterfly:butterfly:butterfly

I have them packed (they are all short-sleeved or sleeveless + skirt combinations) but marathon weekend definitely taught my that the weather can change quickly, so I need to come up with some back-up options in case the weather turns. Which...fingers crossed that it doesn't because overall it look great right now!
Wait...how many pairs of butterfly wings did you pack? Do you have room in your suitcase with all those ears? Or are you just wearing them onto the plane?

But seriously...I love that idea and I'm already thinking in my head of all the InB wingy stuff that could be part of it. Excited to see the pics. Preparing my phone for IG and Disboard stalking!!!

Um what that was the craziest video ever! Lord Voldemort as the sensitive romantic lead?? :scared1: But I do agree it was done really well and looks seamless!
Right?! It was a mind-f*** that's for sure!

Oh man I know the pain of adult skin acting crazy. I finally got mine under control with the help of a dermatologist, but mine was hormonal (that apparently happens to lots of women in their 30s!) I hope yours calms down. I know winter is so hard on skin in general!
THE WORST! At some point I think I may need to bite the bullet and go back to the dermatologist if I REALLY want it to get better. I need to make an appointment for a skin cancer screening sometime this fall so if I'm still bothered by the skin stuff then, I guess that'll be a good time to ask about it! My skin has definitely calmed down since last weekend, thankfully. :)
Princess weekend is so close! I'm so excited for you! I bet you are going to have such a great time with friends and rock your races!
I hope so!! I'm a little nervous since I haven't been running - but I went back and read your report and that got me excited!! :yay:
Princess Butterfly! I love it!
princess::butterfly Hope you are having fun on your trip!! The pastries and chocolate you posted on IG look amazing, and I'm glad you arrived safely!

3 "pairs" of wings and I have such mad packing skillz that they will all fit along with my ears! :wizard:

Eeeeek less than a week to go!

I'm thinking of more of a flower-y theme for Tink...but I have 4 good choices so I need to crack down and making some decisions!! Tink will be here before we know it! :tinker:

Faith, Trust and BLING!

So, I know that @roxymama and @ZellyB already talked about the Tink medals...but I WANNA TALK ABOUT THEM TOO!!!

rdt34534563465.jpg

As a reminder, these were last year's medals:
allmetals6789934-613x344.jpg

Overall, I am VERY happy with the changes to the medals! My favorite thing is the blue and green color scheme...very spring-y.

I said it on the Tink thread, but OMG - I am SO happy that they changed the Pixie Dust Challenge medal!! :worship: The old one was, I think, one of the ugliest race medals I have ever seen (up there with the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge medal...sorry, I'm just really not into Marvel!). I know there was thought behind the old PDC design - each of the circles represents a fairy or whatever, just like there was thought behind the IGC medal design - but still...blech!

I like the new PDC medal a lot - and y'all know that I am not a big Tink fan. Like I said above, I like the blue and green color-scheme, the wings, and the clear stones. And I wonder if it's a spinner? I don't think spinners are the greatest things in the world, but they're cool. Really I would say the only thing I don't like about this medal is the bright gold finish, but it does make the green pop.

rdt956457.jpg

The 5K medal is metal this year, so obviously that's an improvement! I like that the finish is different from the other medals, and I LOVE the ribbon.
rdt5675675.jpg

I'm pretty excited about the 10K medal - I would say this one is my second-favorite after the PDC medal. Again, I like the different finish and the ribbon, but I think the best part is that the medal features Pan and the Lost Boys! I'm hoping this means there will be a better variety of characters on the course, and an actual photo-op with the Lost Boys (since last year there was just a "selfie" opportunity at King Triton's Carousel - boooooo). Obviously using Tink/Peter Pan as the race theme is a little limiting, but last year both the 10K AND the half had just the fairies. I'd be okay with them changing that up - plus, just because it's Tink and Pan, does that mean there should ONLY be Tink and Pan characters? It's not like there are just princesses on the Princess Half courses...anyway...
rdt78978978.jpg

Then there's the half medal...I would say this one is my least favorite based on the pictures, but I think I need to see it in person. It's definitely different though!
rdt2342353.jpg

Surprisingly, I actually think I like the Tink medal line-up better than the Princess medal line-up overall! I like the Princess 5K and 10K medals better than the Tink ones...but I like the Tink Half and PDC medals better than the Princess Half and GSC medals...or maybe I'm just so happy that the PDC medal got an overhaul that that is giving the Tink medals the edge right now! :rotfl2: I like 2 Tink medals better and 2 Princess medals better, so I guess it's really an even split.

Of course, this bad boy is the main reason for my doing the lady weekends this year and it beats all of the other medals anyway...I think I also get the special edition 10th anniversary blue medal for doing the marathon this year but I'm not 100% clear on that. :hyper:

Also - less than 1 week until Princess weekend begins, eeeek!!! princess:

SO MUCH BLING!!!
You should practice for your upcoming weekends by walking around your house with no less than 5 medals on at all times.
Now I need to go stare at the PHM medals again to remind myself which ones I wish I was getting.

My personal opinion on the Princess medals: 5K and 10K are super cute, the half one is meh and the GSC one is fine - about what I expected. I think the 10K one just edges out the 5K as being my favorite.

In January, when I saw them at the expo, the most surprising thing to me about them was how small they were compared to other runDisney medals. The Wine & Dine ones were HUGE...these ones are not. But I'm still excited to get them!

Ok, upon further review (and my opinion means nothing since I'm not even running these races) is that I am liking that half medal more now. I just kind of wish they had made the rose stem a different color than the bell to really make it POP. Or the wording color different too...again to make it POP!
love the 10k, love the 5k
The GSC just needs more size. You are right on the money with that. If the circle was just a bit wider than the top part of the medal that attaches to the ribbon...it would look bigger and bigger is better. :)

Can't wait to hear all about your Princess weekend experience. I wish I was headed back there about now too.

You already know I'm very happy with the Tink medals. I also wondered if the PDC one was a spinner. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it might be. I'm pretty stoked for that anniversary Coast to Coast one and I hope that you can get both the pink one and the regular one for having done the marathon. I would think you should.

I'd put $20 down that both the PDC and the GSC are spinners. I've never been a big "OMG SPINNERS!" person but I do enjoy a good dual-sided medal. Will be interesting to see what is on the other side of the spinny part. Whether it's identical or some wording instead of the shoe.???

I'm a total sucker for spinners. Thus my disappointment (among other things) on the lack of a spinner as part of the Donald 20th anniversary medal. Of course now, given that the race didn't even happen, it's all sort of moot.

Me, too! Any sort of interactive medal, really. Even the sliding ears on Dumbo for the DDD last year. Although the medals for the Philly half/full two years ago had Liberty Bells that actually rang. I was so tired of hearing that by the time I walked home!

AH...good call on the rose stem. If they had made that a shiny green that would have been better! I like how different the half medal is, and it's perfect for Beauty and the Beast...I guess I just sort of think it's plain? Like you said...no POP!

Size does matter, I agree with you there. ;)
Girl that BLING!!

I'm still following along here I promise!

Can't believe Princess is so close now! Sorry to hear about your injury but I think you've been really sensible and you've got so much training in the bank from Dopey you will be able to enjoy this challenge weekend..
 Man I hope you are right about the banked Dopey training!!

Now I have Hotline Bling in my head, and this is not a bad thing. ::yes::

PDC definitely looks like a spinner with the extra space around the wings and the piece going up through the middle. I guess we'll see!

The wording on runDisney.com does make it sound like I'd get both but I guess I won't bank on it. Imagine if I had to choose though - the pink one (which...I don't have that one yet) or the 10th anniversary C2C?? I think I'd have to go with the 10th one!

GSC is definitely a spinner. This is the other side:

Spinners just make me think of the disastrous 5th anniversary Wine & Dine spinners, which broke for some people (mine didn't...at least, not yet). Somehow I cannot find a picture of this, but if I do I'll come back and post it.

I was really surprised by that! After the amazingness of the 20th marathon medal, I still think they dropped the ball on the 20th half medal. :confused3
Am I the only one who thinks the skull medal for the kids race is the best one?
I've never seen that show, so it barely registered with me. :teeth: The kids medallions are always really solid.
Me, too! Any sort of interactive medal, really. Even the sliding ears on Dumbo for the DDD last year. Although the medals for the Philly half/full two years ago had Liberty Bells that actually rang. I was so tired of hearing that by the time I walked home!
The sliding Dumbo ears were genius! And I liked how they didn't tell anyone about it, just a surprise for people that got that medal Very cool.

Infinity Gauntlet Challenge medal...sorry, I'm just really not into Marvel!
I am a total Marvel Geek and I too thought that medal was hideous!!

blue and green color scheme...very spring-y.
That was my exact thought when I saw them, they really are some of the nice COLLECTION of medals I have seen, they just pop all together.

better than the Princess medal line-up overall!
o
Got to disagree with you on this one, as Beauty and Beast is my #1 Disney film, I am uber jealous of anyone getting those medals!!

kull medal for the kids race is the best one?
Totally agree! I would love the one!

Oh my goodness!! I am swooning at those Tink medals! I'm not a super big fairy fan, and I'm not signed up for Tink...but now I wish I was!
Sorry about your injury struggles....you are being smart about cross training, hopefully things will be back to normal-ish enough for you to enjoy Princess!

Popping in to comment about skin ... ugh, it's the worst! Mine is very hormonal too! Unlike @roxymama my skin was probably at its worst during pregnancy, where was my glow?! I had to wear heavy make up every day to cover it up. Once again, I can't use Retin A to help control it and my hormones are again wreaking havok, but I find using acid peels (only the type ok during pregnancy) are helping. It's also a lot cheaper than going to get a facial, plus the extractions during facials make me break out even more. I also try not to wear make up to help my skin recover but will do a little concealer for work.

The wording on runDisney.com does make it sound like I'd get both but I guess I won't bank on it. Imagine if I had to choose though - the pink one (which...I don't have that one yet) or the 10th anniversary C2C?? I think I'd have to go with the 10th one!
I think the wording means that you would receive both. It specifically says that the same race can be used for multiple challenges and that it is possible to receive two different medals at the same event. Scroll down to the bottom and read the eligibility section.

https://www.rundisney.com/coast-to-coast-race-challenge/

It actually gives an example that running Light Side at Disneyland and Princess means you receive the C2C. It goes to say that if you also finish Tinker Bell, you would also receive the pink C2C. The one caveat is that runners can only receive one unique C2C Challenge medal per year.

And a runDisney rep told me at Light Side that Kessel Run finishers would also receive the 10th anniversary C2C. I did not actually ask her. She saw me looking at the medals and told me that Kessel Run also eligible for C2C.

Now, as I understand their website and factor in what the sales rep told me:

1. You can use the same event (Dark Side/Kessel or Tinker Bell/Pink C2C) to also receive the original C2C in addition to the corresponding special medal (Kessel or Pink C2C). Note that the website C2C page specifically mentions that you can use the same event to receive two medals. Since Star Wars and Princess/Tink are the only ones that offer a specific themed C2C, this only applies to those two races.

2. My interpretation of the only earning one unique medal means that if you finished a WDW Marathon weekend and Light Side or Light Side and Princess, you will not receive the C2C after finishing Dark Side because you already earned the original C2C, but will still receive the Kessel Run. Likewise, if you finish Light Side and Dark Side, you will not receive the C2C if you run Tink or Disneyland or Avengers because you already received the original C2C at Dark Side. You would however receive any other medal (weekend challenge events) you registered for.

Yes, I agree! I love my medals from January but they don't seem to "go" together as a "set," so to speak. I think they are pretty random! The Tink medals seem more like a set.
Got to disagree with you on this one, as Beauty and Beast is my #1 Disney film, I am uber jealous of anyone getting those medals!!

That's just an indication of how freaking happy I am that they changed the PDC medal - Belle is one of my favorites so I am super excited that she is the theme for this year!

Also not a super big fairy fan but I really think they did a great job on these! They are so pretty!

I'm feeling much better lately - so glad!

Interesting about the acid peels...I wonder if my skin would be too sensitive for that? I have a credit for some sort of free facial-type thing, I think it's more like microdermabrasion? we'll see how that goes!

I have started using some cream with Vitamin C as well as a Vitamin C serum and both of those seem to have really helped...I might even be okay without foundation during Princess weekend. We'll see!

I thought that's what it meant too. :thumbsup2 Glad someone else is reading it the same way! My whole reasoning for singing up for Princess/Tink was to get the pink C2C but I would love that 10th anniversary one, too!! :yay:

Princess Half Marathon Weekend Training
Week 5 (2/13 - 2/19) - 4+ miles completed!

MO: lift/yoga
TU: 10 minutes elliptical/20 minutes biking/15 minutes walking with 45 seconds of running!!
WE: lifting
TH: 20 minutes elliptical/15 minutes biking/10 minutes walking
FR: 2-mile run!!
SA: 30 minutes biking/30 minutes elliptical/30 minutes biking/30 minutes walking --> short attention span
SU: 2-mile run!!/yoga

More elliptical-ing, more biking, more yoga, more lifting...and running!! :yay:

On Tuesday I ran for about 45 seconds after walking for awhile...it was okay, but felt weird. :confused3 I was wearing my non-running/"everything else" shoes and didn't tie them tightly enough (which I didn't realize until later), but beyond that I just felt stiff and unnatural. And my shin was sore later thanks to the loose shoes, so lesson learned there! Thankfully that problem went away quickly!

Friday marked 2 weeks since my doctor's appointment and the day that I was "officially" okay to start running again. We are having weirdly nice weather here so I was happy to get outside!

SUN!!
32959551446_bd50698fbf_z.jpg

This run was...okay. :worried: Not the triumphant return to running I had been hoping for. Again, I felt very stiff (especially in my feet) and awkward. While I felt in okay cardio shape, my legs and feet just weren't used to the pounding! My hip held up fairly well, thankfully, but my back gave me a bit of trouble - toward the end it got sore for about 30-45 seconds and I had a spasm. But a bit of walking fixed the back, thankfully. I did mostly 1/1 intervals with a couple of 2/1s thrown in...it wasn't a perfect run, but it was good enough to make me feel better about Princess weekend.

Then I went on a nice, loooong dog walk! It's like spring here, so awesome!
33001208765_03f6e89dce_z.jpg

I was happy to find that my hip wasn't bothering me after this run. Such a relief! Also, I figured out how to properly set run/walk alerts in my watch (Garmin FR 230), so that was a triumph in and of itself.

Today was fun because Mr. A came to yoga with me! This was his second class...I think he liked but didn't love it. :upsidedow

Before yoga, I did another 2-miler. This one was WAY better than Friday's run!! My feet still felt a little stiff, but I felt much better overall - no back pain, no back spasms, my hip was fine, and I went about 30 seconds per mile faster than on Friday. I am liking this trend! Right now I am planning on lifting and yoga tomorrow, a run on Tuesday (probably another 2-miler...maybe a 3-miler) and then that's it!

Obviously my preparation for this race weekend was not what I was hoping it would be. :rolleyes1 At this point, I think the half marathon is definitely going to be a challenge, and there will be a LOT of walking, but I'm feeling okay about it. I did what I could!

And I am mostly packed, so that's exciting! I also tried out some Belle-inspired nails, and I think this is what I'm going with...sort of a Christmas Belle and not really a classic Belle, but whatever!
32185719363_895ac5c833_z.jpg

That's it from me! Have a great week! princess:

Glad your hip is feeling better! Hope your last two runs go well! Jealous of you for next weekend (especially the medals...to me they look cooler than last year) and hoping it goes well for you.
