My son wore one to school in high school, but he called it a "Gangsta" costume. A CATHOLIC High School.
He took the costume to the nun who was the Vice Principal of Students and the Principal the day before and said, "this is what I want to wear tomorrow, it's a Gangsta costume, some might think it's something else. My parents want me to get your approval, or I won't wear it".
They had not problem with it.
Of course, the school is in the ghetto, surrounded by pimps, prostitutes, and drug addicts. The school had a chance to move to a "better" neighborhood and chose to stay there, because THOSE are the people that needed the support of the school and the church.

For everyone against Pee-wee, would you let you kid dress as Buzz lightyear even though TIM Allen has done jail time for cocaine sales?

Good point! I have never seen a Pee Wee but I can't even count how many Buzz Lightyears I have seen through the years.

There is a difference between a gangsta and a pimp... you do know that, right?![]()

One wears patches and the other one doesn't?![]()
In my opinion, there is a difference. Pee Wee Herman was a "face" character. If a child saw his face in a mugshot, they would see it as "PeeWee got arrested."
Tim Allen is only a voice character. If my kids seen a mugshot of Tim Allen they would not say "Buzz Lightyear" got arrested, they're more likely to say "The guy from the Santa Clause movie did something bad."
However, my son was Buzz Lightyear last year and has never asked to dress up like Pee Wee Herman!![]()

I wonder if people who think it's okay for an elementary school boy to dress as a pimp would allow their elementary age daughter to dress as a prostitute for Halloween?![]()
The only costume that made me do a double take last night was the approximately 10 year old girl who showed up in leather pants, bustier-type top, and carried a whip.
Did you ask her what she was supposed to be?
Hubby and I love PeeWee! We are kinda weird in that we often use quotes from movies or TV in everyday conversation. When one of us is looking for something around the house we might say "here's a picture of me without my bike".
