A "Pimp" costume for Grade 4? Really??

SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF

Yep just what I thought

DH and I are taking turns passing out candy to trick or treaters. Just had a boy , probably 4th-5th grade in a pimp suit!! Looked expensive. Velvet pants, velvet jacket, big hat and long gold chain with a gold $ emblem. Yikes!
Had to post, after reading this post earlier.

And we all wonder why kids are such screwballs? Look what's raising them...parents who think it's OK for a 9/10 year old to dress as a pimp.:sad2:

My son wore one to school in high school, but he called it a "Gangsta" costume. A CATHOLIC High School.

He took the costume to the nun who was the Vice Principal of Students and the Principal the day before and said, "this is what I want to wear tomorrow, it's a Gangsta costume, some might think it's something else. My parents want me to get your approval, or I won't wear it".
They had not problem with it.
Of course, the school is in the ghetto, surrounded by pimps, prostitutes, and drug addicts. The school had a chance to move to a "better" neighborhood and chose to stay there, because THOSE are the people that needed the support of the school and the church.

There is a difference between a gangsta and a pimp... you do know that, right?

For everyone against Pee-wee, would you let you kid dress as Buzz lightyear even though TIM Allen has done jail time for cocaine sales?

Good point! I have never seen a Pee Wee but I can't even count how many Buzz Lightyears I have seen through the years.

I wonder if people who think it's okay for an elementary school boy to dress as a pimp would allow their elementary age daughter to dress as a prostitute for Halloween? :confused3

OP, I actually had to look at this one, because I thought you might have lived in Baltimore, Md and saw DH's cousins 4th grader last night, I thought it was a little much as well. :confused3

I am so glad that I saw totally appropriate costumes on kids last night.

My fourth grade son went as a box of popcorn (only homemade costume besides the Lego man and the Fonz that we saw and everyone loved it), his best friend dressed as the Fonz, and three other fourth graders we saw were dressed as the Grim Reaper, the Karate Kid, and a Lego man.

The scariest costume was a dead prom queen but she was about sixteen or so. Everyone else was either a superhero or a Disney character. I didn't get one single Jason or Michael Myers this year either.

I also noticed that about 3/4 of my block had lights out - much more than usual and very little chocolate was given out. Definitely signs of the recession--my son even commented that he got more candy last year and went to fewer houses. I also had way less trick or treaters than past years.

In my opinion, there is a difference. Pee Wee Herman was a "face" character. If a child saw his face in a mugshot, they would see it as "PeeWee got arrested."

Tim Allen is only a voice character. If my kids seen a mugshot of Tim Allen they would not say "Buzz Lightyear" got arrested, they're more likely to say "The guy from the Santa Clause movie did something bad."

However, my son was Buzz Lightyear last year and has never asked to dress up like Pee Wee Herman!:lmao:

Hubby and I love PeeWee! We are kinda weird in that we often use quotes from movies or TV in everyday conversation. When one of us is looking for something around the house we might say "here's a picture of me without my bike".

One wears patches and the other one doesn't? :confused3

I would say that if a gangster has a stable of girls, he's not a "gangsta" he's a pimp. And if a pimp has no girls... he's sadly confused about his job description.

Also, the look is totally different.

Not easily confused, imo!

Oh, but there's also the Classic Gangster. (A personal favorite of mine - I dressed up like this for several Halloweens when I was a youngster!)

I see your point but I still disagree, but my kids know the difference between make believe characters and real people, and if they were so young that they didn't they wouldn't even understand what a mugshot from 20 years ago even is. Or be looking at them for that matter

No, one carries around a pimp cup and the other one carries around pics of scantily clad women he has for sale :rotfl:

The only costume that made me do a double take last night was the approximately 10 year old girl who showed up in leather pants, bustier-type top, and carried a whip.

Guess there is no right answer.

Heck, Halloween isn't even allowed in some public schools here, it's the "Harvest Festival" because some consider everything Halloween devil worship.

Saw plenty of nasty/prostitute like costumes on little ones at MNSSHP. Who even wants to walk around with their parents in outfits like that?

Did you ask her what she was supposed to be?

LOL - DH & I will say "I'm TRYING to use the PHONE" if we interrupt during a phone conversation.

The costumes we saw last night were pretty tame - i don't even remember any pimps or age-inappropriate costumes.
