A Perky Disneymoon?

My DH wore a visor that had ears on it. He bought the visor at the local mall here and we took the top hat and attached the ears to the visor. He still hated it but he wore it just to have fun.

We didn't get anything on our honeymoon except congrats so I wouldn't expect anything. I think it all depends on the CM's at the time. We still had the best honeymoon without any freebies. :lovestruc

Thanks! A couple of us on these boards have made them, but I think Disney should sell them!

We used cheap bride and groom ball caps I bought as a set for $10 on eBay. For the groom ears, just buy a cheap-o set of classic black mouse ears and cut them off, leaving a bit of the material at the base of them.

We made slits in the sides of the ball cap and pushed the fabric left at the base of the ears through, then covered it on the inside of the cap with black felt that was affixed using Barge, an industrial-strength adhesive they use to put soles on shoes. You can also use contact adhesive/cement made by Dap or 3M (and found at the hardware store). But DH doesn't recommend hot glue because it isn't a strong enough bond.

The bride ears were trickier and more spendy, cuz you have to buy that headband. DH removed the ears, trim and veil, and then affixed the ears to the ball cap the same way he did the groom ears. It's harder because of the sequins. There is a wire loop forming each bride ear, and when you detach the ears from the headband, there is wire at the bottom that can be pushed through the slits in the ball cap, and then covered with felt. When you cut the material off the headband you'll see how the ears are attached to it and maybe be able to reuse that structure. DH used Barge to affix the veil and trim at the top.

:thumbsup2

Thank you SO much for posting this!! My DP would never wear that other stuff in the parks all day, but she would wear a baseball cap! She has however, PROMISED me, for our last dance at the reception, that we can wear our matching bride ears ( sooo sweet of her) for some great pictures and a tender moment. This however, will make her please as PUNCH when she hears about the baseball caps!! Thanks!!

And as for the "Perks", the ONLY perk I'm interested in, are the CONGRATUALTIONS!! The free dessert, we'll be on the dinning plan, don't need it...

We just got back last month from DW and we saw several honeymooners and always wished them well!! That's what I'm really looking forward to:woohoo:

What a fun idea - and great for pictures!

Have fun with the caps! The key is to make the ears high enough - DH had to redo his groom cap the first time cuz he cut the slits too low on the cap. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip. I copied and put it in our wedding folder...guessing we'll start on them around next Aug.

We just got back from our disneymoon (insert sad face for being back) and we had the best time!

We wore our "Just Married" pins the whole time and I finally bought the bridal headband for MNSSHP (Wore it off an on at Epcot).

The "perks" we got were...

1. Doing the Hokey Pokey at Whispering Canyon Cafe and then they served us complimentary champagne. They also announced randomly that there were "newlyweds over there".

2. We got a congratulations announced over the speaker of one of the bus rides.

3. We came back to our room one night with a complimentary champagne toast from our resort. It was a certificate and when we made it to the bar, the man told us we could use it on anything equal or lesser in price than the champagne. So I had a Parrot Bay with some OJ & Pineapple Juice. DH had a Whiskey Sour.

4. We had breakfast at Kona one late morning. We paid out of pocket instead of with the Dining Plan, and she brought us a complimentary breakfast dessert. It had a chocolate stamp of Lilo kissing Stitch.

We really had so much fun and so many congratulations. There was another couple that said they wore their pins for a couple of days but grew tired of them.

I've made the baseball caps too - thanks to Lurkyloo for the idea - as OH would never wear the top hat. I've got a feeling he won't wear the one I've made but I will wear mine.

He shaves his head and the first time he tried it on he had some head stubble. Well, it acted like velcro and stuck to the fur that i had pulled through from the ears and looked like he had loads of ants on his head :rotfl:

Must remember to stick something over that, hmmm, or not...

Oh the baseball cap is an awesome idea!! I bought a bride and groom visor for our honeymoon trip at the end of October. My DF loves visors he has tons so I figure they will work best for him!! I am almost finished making them so I will post pictures soon!! I can't wait to suprise him with them although he has already told me he would wear whatever I wanted him too he said he was just happy to finally be going to Disney for FUN and not the mad dash!!!:)
