A Not So Scary 5th Birthday PTR; October 2013 UPDATE 6/5/13 DD25's Wedding: Part 5

Other than that, nothing is really going on.

You live such a BORING, non-eventful life... :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl2:

Goodness gracious, BeBop! Christmas is such an insanely busy time of year, and now you get to throw a wedding into the mix. :crazy2:

Seriously, though. I can completely understand your DD's decision. I pray this will turn out to be such a special and memorable weekend for all of you, a celebration of the unconditional love that they share!

DH and I got married a year before our big wedding - we were moving to NC from MI and I didn't have a job lined up. I have a lot of health problems so we decided to get married at the courthouse before we moved. We still had our big wedding when we originally planned.

The courthouse wedding wasn't very wedding-y. We had two witnesses and I wore a nice dress and had some flowers from the store. But we didn't even go out to eat since we needed to use up the food in our freezer and we pretty much went to packing after the ceremony.

Disney news. :)

DD25 and her fiance (they're getting married in May) have booked at Hilton DTD. From Wednesday Oct 30, through Sunday Nov 3. So they won't be staying with us. DH isn't the happiest...he thought this would be a true family vacation. However, I understand they want their privacy during their still-honeymoon stage. I think we'll see a lot of them. It also pretty much assures that we'll book from Sunday Oct 27 through Sunday Nov 3 at Bonnet Creek. Can't book until Dec 27 (nine months out). Problem is...that's the one day that week that I'm going into work.

Oh, and I took DGD to see Santa Claus at the mall yesterday.

Congrats on getting things ironed out, glad to hear your trip is coming together.

WOW! I'm only just catching up now.

Happy Wedding for your DD.

And looks like plans are coming along for the vacay too.

DD25 flew in last night about midnight. We spent all morning dress shopping for me...a mother-of-the-bride dress for her May wedding. Found nothing. :confused3 My problem...I'm Pooh-sized, and the normal stores don't have my size. We'll probably have to get a custom-made dress for me. DD25 is freaking out. She wants to make sure I'll look good in whatever dress.

DD24 and DSIL's wedding was at 3 this afternoon. We had it scheduled for the Ohio Riverfront, right next to the Purple People Bridge, a pedestrian bridge across the Ohio River...one of the longest pedestian bridges in the country. It was supposed to rain all weekend. :sad1: However, it stopped raining early this morning, and we actually had a peak of sunshine right before 3. The sun went back inside the clouds before the ceremony, but we still had no rain. I don't think we got any rain since this morning. And it was a mild day for December...high 50s. Never thought I'd attend an outdoor wedding in December.

This is part of the actual ceremony.

Afterward, we went to a German restaurant right across the street from the bridge. Good authentic German food. The accordian player/singer dedicated a song to the newlyweds...Edelweiss. Very nice and fun.

We have DGD for the night while DD24 and DSIL spend their first night as husband and wife by themselves.. DGD and DD25 are watching old Disney movies on Netflix streaming.

Time for a PSA. Netflix signed an exclusive contract with Disney early this week...now a lot of the classic Disney movies are on Netflix instant streaming. And there's more to come. :dance3:

This has been a totally unreal three months for our family...especially DD24. So happy she (and DSIL) has reached the end of the rainbow.

Tomorrow...DD25's bridal shower.

Great pictures and congrats!! Good luck on the dress shopping too.

I'm so excited for Disney on Netflix - it will make it so much easier to watch all those older movies with DD.

That sounds like a great day....for the bride and groom. Sorry you haven't found a dress for May yet but I'm sure you'll find one.

Have a great bridal shower day.

What a great ceremony. Thank you for sharing it with us. :) It looks like you have a very happy family. Congratulations!!

D~

Congrats! May the couple have many wonderful years together! Hope your son in law is feeling better!

Try Nordstroms and Dilliards online for mother of the bride dresses. Nordstrom has free shipping both ways. So I ordered several dresses in several sizes, kept one and sent the rest back.

Thanks for the update!!!

Congrats to your DD and DSIL!

Thanks for all the good wishes. :goodvibes

DD25's wedding shower went well. She received a lot of nice presents...that are now sitting in our garage since she couldn't take them on the plane with her. Hoping they drive from Shreveport to Nashville for the wedding, so they can take the gifts back then.

I still see a trip to Shreveport in the near future.

Only thing that didn't go too well...my pictures. Due to the lighting, they all gave out a reddish tint. I'll try to do something with Photoshop, but....

DD25 did get back to Shreveport safely..just in time to watch DFSIL go off to Dallas for a business trip. He comes back on Thrusday.

Oh, and DD25 reminded me how expensive CRT is. I told her that we would probably do the Akershus princess meal. She's excited, because she wants to drink around the world.

No, I haven't neglected the PTR. However, not too much Disney-related stuff happened in the past few weeks. We have a little holiday called Christmas coming up.

I think I'm done shopping. However, every time I get ready to wrap presents, I'm either too tired, or I get roped into emergency baby sitting duties. Which is what happened to me Thursday. I was going to wrap all DGD's presents while watching the X-Factor finale. Until DSIL got rushed to the hospital. (Don't worry, nothing serious. He came home last night). However, there's something about wrapping DGD's Christmas presents when DGD is watching. I don't think so.

Want to wrap tonight. But I'm tired. As I said, I think I'm finished shopping. Went to Toys R Us at 5 AM this morning. I bought the $20 Toys R Us Groupon for $10 on Black Friday. Not able to get to TRU until now. And I can't really stomach TRU on the Saturday before Christmas...unless it's real early.

Wednesday night, DD and I took DGD to the Cincinnati Zoo's Festival of Lights. They decorate the zoo in thousands of brightly colored lights. Breathtaking.

We were greated at the entrance of the zoo by Frosty the Snowman.

Only 2 1/2 more days until Christmas. And 4 1/2 more days until we can book at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. :thumbsup2 313 days until DGD's birthday, so that means about 308 days until we arrive. I'll set up another ticker once we book.

Looks lovely!

Christmas is not a little holiday....it's a LOT of W-O-R-K!

Hope you get it all done.

Looks like you had a wonderful time!

Christmas is not a little holiday....it's a LOT of W-O-R-K!

It's not as bad this year as in previous years. We're staying in town this year, yet we are not entertaining. DD24 and DSIL are having us over for Christmas breakfast. Then we are going up to my sister's for dinner. I still have to check with Sis to see if she wants us to bring anything. DD already insisted that we don't have to bring anything. Besides presents, of course.

In fact, it's going to be a little lonely waking up on Christmas morning. This will be the first Christmas, since my eldest daughter was born, that it will be just the two of us for Christmas. And we won't have any presents to unwrap. I'm getting a Kindle, but I'm waiting until the post-Christmas sale to get it. DH just bought himself a fish tank for the goldfish (that's another story). And we bought ourselves a dishwasher, but that won't arrive until after New Years.

We didn't even put up a tree. DH's thinking...what for?

No tree? :sad1:

Merry Christmas anyway. Your DH is probably right. But I like a tree for Christmas. I can do without a presents but I need a tree. :upsidedow

Awww... I am so sorry to hear that it will just be you and your DH for Christmas, I hope that you find a way to celebrate and make it special just for you...

I wanted to stop by and wish you a...

Oh, it will just be us two waking up on Christmas morning. Trust me, we won't be alone throughout the day. Hoping to get to my DD24's house in time for DGD to open her presents. Especially since most of DGD's presents are still here. Stayed up until past midnight last night wrapping them.

Gonna miss DD25 (and DFSIL) though. She has to work tomorrow. However, his family traveled to Louisiana to spend Christmas with them, and I think they will cook Christmas dinner while DD25 works. She works from 8 to 4 tomorrow. DD25's employers suspended (and will hopefully fire) one of its employees last week. For very good reasons. However, the employees now have to make up the slack.
