A Not So Scary 5th Birthday PTR; October 2013 UPDATE 6/5/13 DD25's Wedding: Part 5

So sorry that you and the family are impacted by the sequestration. Hope it gets better soon.

Your Disney plans look great and I'm looking forward to all those mini TRs.

Joining in on your October plans! So far, looking what I have planned, it doesn't seem like any of our park days will overlap. But it's only April, and I usually change my itinerary about a dozen times before we actually get there. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the good words.

Of course, there are a few changes.

Sunday Oct 27: NFL schedule came out this week. Of course, the Cincinnati Bengals play a late Sunday afternoon game. But I don't think it will be shown on Orlando television. We may go to a sports bar near WBC. I dunno.

Monday Oct 28: Now officially up in the air. I don't know if there's enough to do at Hollywood Studios for a full day. I'm thinking maybe making this our Epcot Day.

Tuesday Oct 29: Animal Kingdom. DD and DGD will probably go to MNNSHP that night instead of Thursday.

Wednesday Oct 30: Maybe DHS. That should be no more than a half day park for us. We didn't plan a rest day (mistake), so we should take it easy in the afternoon. Big day ahead of us.

Thursday Oct 31; Magic Kingdom and DGD's birthday. We are going to try to get a BBB appointment at the MK (anytime between open and about 5), and eat at CRT afterwards (no later than 6:55 obviously, since we aren't going to the party). I'd love to get an early BBB appointment, then eat breakfast at the castle. But since we don't have the benefit of making ADR's at 180+10, we have to take what we can get. Some worry about getting BOGreservations. I'm worrying about getting BBB on, probably their busiest day of the year.

Oh, and the one Thursday Night Football game that i hoped would not be interesting for us...well of course, my Cincinnati Bengals are in it. Playing that Florida team, the Miami Dolphins. So we gotta do something to see the game. And travelling six hours round trip is not an option.

Friday Nov 1: Make-up day for the day before in case we don't get BBB. After all, it's a birthday week, not just a birthday day. If we do get BBB on the 31st, we'll probably do Epcot again. DD25 and her husband isn't coming in until Wednesday, and they want to drink around the world.

Saturday Nov 2: DGD's choice, but I'm sure she'll pick MK.

Sunday Nov 3: Bye, bye Disney. :(

In other news:

1) DD25's wedding is in three weeks, and I still haven't gotten my dress yet. When I ordered it in late December, they said I'd get it by late March. I called back in late March, and they said, no it was late April. Hoping to get it within a week. And i hope it doesn't need much alterations.

2) Got my sequestration days off. :( Right now, I'm scheduled for five days off. And they aren't good days either. I'm off the Friday before Memorial Day, and we don't leave for vacation until the Sunday before Memorial Day, so that's a wasted day. I'm off the day after my Indianapolis crochet trip. The only good thing is that I'm off July 5, so I don't have to take that day off. Still I don't like the idea of having to take unpaid days off. There has to be a better solution. But that's for another thread.

your plans looks like they are coming along.

I hope your dress comes and I hope things sort out for sequestration.

Six months from today we'll be at WDW. :cool1:

Two weeks from today, we'll be in Nashville, getting ready for my eldest daughter's wedding.

Dress is either in, or will come in tomorrow. My appointment for the dress fitting is Wednesday morning. The store manager assured me that any alterations will take no more than a week. I'm holding her to it. I just don't want to be the seemstress in charge of my alterations.

Thinking about ADRs. I'm not making many ADRs. I'm doing CRT for DGD's birthday on the 31st (my 180 days for that is Saturday). I'm leaning towards Tusker House breakfast on the 29thh (my 180 days for that is Thursday). If we can get an ADR before the park opens, will the parking lot be open in time? And if not, what do we do about riding the Safari. If we get an ADR for...let's say 10:30, would we have time to ride the Safari first thing? Or would you try to get a Fastpass for sometime around noon. Or even later? Is it wise to ride the Safari on a full stomach?

Good luck for the wedding! Hope you'll post a picture of yourself in your dress.

YAY for the 6 month mark. I like Tusker House for breakfast and have had an early breakfast there, before the park opens. Yes, the parking lot will be opened and you'll be able to park right up near the entry, depending on how early you get an ADR.

We had a 7.40 am ADR and were done by 9 am. I ran to go get EE fast passes and then we wandered up to the safari. Standby line was 20 minutes.
On reflection, it may have been better to get a fastpass for the safari and then go hit EE. Either way, its a bit of walking. Hmm....maybe that isn't the best strategy. :rotfl:

Another change in plans.

When we learned that CRT charges the credit card immediately, we said 'No Way!" Akershus is back on the board again. So we're moving a few dates around and we might not do Hollywood Studios. There wouldn't be that much for DGD anyway.

Here's what we have thus far:

Monday 10/28: Epcot

Tuesday 10/29: Animal Kingdom with morning ADR at Tusker House.

Wednesday 10/30: Magic Kingdom. May try to convince everyone on a late lunch at BOG.

Thursday 10/31 (DGD's Birthday): Morning at DTD/BBB (crossing fingers we get in) and Afternoon/Night at Epcot with late lunch at Akershus.
If we don't get BBB, probably MK, and late lunch at BOG. I'll make sure DGD gets the grey stuff for her birthday.

Friday 11/1 Makeup day for BBB/Akershus if we couldn't get BBB on Thursday. (Although I'd hate to be in Epcot on a Food and Wine Weekend Day. We'd try for the earliest lunch, and make sure we're out of World Showcase by 4. Might we get Soarin' fastpasses for late afternoon/early evening if we get to Epcot by noon?)

If we get BBB/Akershus on Thursday, probably MK.

Saturday 11/2 DGD's choice.

Looking forward to making my Tusker House ADR on Thursday (that should be relatively painless), and especially my BBB ADR this Saturday. That's going to be fun.

Thanks. Actually, I'm a little lucky I'm staying offsite. Today would have been my 180+10 day. And they decided to do system upgrades today on the reservations site. No one can get through. If I had to make all my reservations today, I would be literally pulling my hair out.

And DD25 would be mad at me, because she doesn't want a bald mother-of-the-bride.

I was just checking another thread where someone else WAS pulling her hair up. She stayed up. :faint:

Post 1,000 on the DIS Boards!!!

party::disrocks::cool1::cheer2:

A good news, bad news post.

First, for the good news.

I guess y'all know that MNSSHP dates and prices are out. Emailed them to youngest DD. She and DGD are probably going on the 29th. A little bit of mother/daughter time by themselves. :)

Hope it won't be too much for DGD. Going to make breakfast ADRs at Tusker House for that day. I think I'll just settle for as late as possible, and don't even try for anything before rope drop. Either ride the safari first thing, or try to get noontime fastpasses.

Now for the bad news.

My mother-of-the-bride dress still isn't in yet.

When i called last week, they said it would be in no later than Monday, and i made my fitting appointment for today. When I got there, my dress wasn't in. The receptionist called the manufacturer, and they said it would be here this coming Monday.

Six days before the wedding.

I demanded to see the manager immediately, and of course the manager took today off. No one could do anything. I was literally in tears. That means, having the dress fitted and altered in four days. Four (bleepin') days. And I'm Pooh-sized, so I can't get anything off the rack that would look nice...at least nice enough for the wedding.

The receptionist assured me that they would do everything they could do to fit me in my dress properly. But I just feel like I was lied to. The manager is calling tomorrow morning. I'll give her until noon, then I'm calling her.

Can you see I'm a little perturbed. No, a lot perturbed.

Congrats on 1000 posts! :cheer2:
Awesome news about MNSHHP.

Not so awesome news about your dress. I hope you have better news to report soon. Keep us updated. :grouphug:

Got my first ADR. Tusker House at 8:15 AM on October 29.

Good luck for the wedding! Hope you'll post a picture of yourself in your dress.

If I ever get it. Right now, I'm thinking about wearing shorts and a T-shirt that says: "All I Got for Mother's Day is this Son-In-Law."

We had a 7.40 am ADR and were done by 9 am.

So the parking lot was open by 7. Was it a morning EHM day?

I'm just worried that the parking lot won't be open. They're suggesting over at the Transportation Board that we valet park over at the AK lodge and take the bus over. Don't really want to do that.

I ran to go get EE fast passes and then we wandered up to the safari. Standby line was 20 minutes.

Only person interested in EE might be DD24. We'll probably do standby at the safari after breakfast. I wouldn't mind getting Fastpasses though and let DD ride single rider on EE.

Love this! You have a great attitude! Any news on the dress? You'll look beautiful no matter what but I'm sorry to hear about your stress. You don't need that.

I know. But one of my creeds is: Something is wrong if there's not at last one major crisis going on.

Couple things:

1) With my first ADR comes my first ADR change. We're eating breakfast at 10:45 at TH. That way, I don't have to stress about the parking lot being open. And DD24 and DGD will probably go to MNSSHP that night. We'll make rope drop at AK, but that means probably getting up about 7:30 that morning instead of having to be somewhere at 7:30.

2) The dress...well it's being overnighted to the bridal salon. I have a fitting this Saturday at the salon. Hoping it's nothing but minor alterations which will take a few days.

We'll see.

Hope you've had success with the dress!

And that sounds like you've gotten your TH ADR sorted out. Timing looks great.

May the Fourth Be With You!!!

I love Star Wars. :flower3:

Anyway, so far, so good. Success in making the Akershus ADR and the BBB reservations for DGD's Birthday. :cheer2:

BBB at DTD...Thursday Oct. 31 at 9:05 AM
Akershus....Same day at 2:45 PM (wanted late lunch)

Had to make the BBB reservations in the hospital. :scared:

No, nothing wrong. :) DH needed blood work done for a routine check-up. He wanted to get it over with first thing in the morning, and the hospital lab opened at 7 AM. So while the lab technician was drawing his blood, I was confirming the BBB appointment. Afterwards, we went to First Watch for breakfast. He was hungry since he needed to fast for 12 hours before the blood work.

In other news....

Remember, I told you we were going to the Wisconsin Dells later this month? We decided to extend the vacation an extra day, and hit up Chicago. We're staying at the Hilton at the airport on the 25th. That way, we can take the train into downtown Chicago and back to the hotel. The train runs 24/7. So we can stay and drink until the wee hours of Sunday morning and not have to worry about driving, or the trains not running.

Later today...the dress fitting. I'll let y'all know what happens. Wish me luck.

Glad that you were just having a standard check up for DH.

Congrats on scoring the ADRs and the extra day in the Windy City. Hope you had as much success with the dress fitting.
