Lots of other stores are being refurbished as well and have walls around them, the bathrooms near the diamond horseshoe are also closed

Isn't this pretty typical for January? Everyone wants the magic of the holidays, but they forget about the dark, cold days of January. I've never been to WDW in January, and I don't think I would...too depressing.

splash mountains rehab is at the same time every year. Just like the magic carpets of Aladdin are never flying when we are there.

I think this is the time they do a lot of there rehabs. It a slow time for them. It's better to do it now then during peak season

yep - January is refurbishment time. They'll want to have it all done by the time peak season is underway.

Oh for sure it needs done, routine maintenance is important. I actually work at WDW and see alot of things back stage however this kind of caught me off guard.

Looks pretty normal for low season to me. That is one reason prices are so much lower this time of year. The rehab schedule is generally available months ahead of time so people can plan to be there when things they want running ere running.

I keep thinking of what Dolly Parton said in "Steel Magnolias", "There is no such thing as natural beauty, why it takes a lot of effort to look this good".

It takes a lot of effort to produce our magic.

I just returned home today after 10 ays and I have pics of this also--except fpor Splash. It is usually down att least part of our January trip.

I have never seen so much rehabbing going on at once like this in my many January trips. MK was quite depressing, actually with all the water gone, the CP blocked off, the crane etc. I spent more time in Epcot and DHS than anywhere else.
I expect rehabs in January but with all the pretty water gone AND the flowers and plants froze off, it was just a bit ugly. :(

Oh for goodness sake, do people really think that Tink and the other fairies make the magic overnight, lol? Of course there are going to be things that are under renovation at one of the slowest times of year. Of course things need repair, maintenance, refurbishment. It's not like they closed the park, for heaven's sake! Some people really need to relax about stuff like this.

I'm quite sure there is a lot of magic, as always. You just have to be open to it and realize that a few "under construction" type of things won't ruin a vacation.

They're just making sure everything's perfect for my trip in October! :thumbsup2

Glad that they are spending money to rehab in this economy. With as many attractions as Disney has, at least a few will be down at any given time. Would you prefer that things started to look like you local Six Flags?

We went once in the end of Jan. and Spash Mountain was closed, but that was really it. There wasn't a crane by the castle, the waterway by the castle wasn't dry, there weren't any bathrooms/stores under construction either. I don't know, maybe we just hit a lucky year, but honestly as much as I love WDW, these pictures look depressing.
