A No Snooze Bar Christmas, Harry & Mickey are Waiting..it is done

Eh...O'Canada

As I try to get everyone out the door and back to Epcot, I am met with kids demands to check out Luna Pool. So we head back down the endless hallway to the elevator and then to the pool. The kids have seen pictures of Luna Pool, so they know what to expect but want to see what it looks like.

BWVpool.jpg

Thank goodness, we all agree the clown slide is not nearly as creepy looking in person and they want to know when they can swim. "No today," and of course that response is met with whines. I hope there will be a warm enough day and a break in our plans later in the week to swim. I really did not figure in pool time, since I figured the weather would not be warm enough...looks like I will be reworking some plans later on. After leaving the pool, we head back on the boardwalk where we enjoy the theming as we make our way to the International Gateway and Epcot.

After entering Epcot, I have decided that our first stop before our dinner ADR will be Canada, since Canada does not really have food that will be included on our Snack/Drink Around the World Day at Epcot and does not fit well into my plans that day (although it makes me sad, because I have read about these Beaver Tails they used to have). There is a drink I am wanting to try...Torontopolitan and I am sure that by now Jeff could go for a beer. To start our Canadian Adventure I decide we should see O'Canada and make our way to the theater.

CanadaShow.jpg

CanadaCoolShot.jpg

The family really enjoyed the show and everyone loved Martin Short's Narration. As we left the theater Ab spotted the CM at the Kidcot station and went over to get him to sign our autograph book and in the process was taught a Canadian word that the boys picked up and began using as much as they could....Eh!

canadaautograph001.jpg

Making our way out of the theater area we came to the garden area. Where I stopped to pause remembering my grandmother and all of her trips to the Canadian Rockies and the pictures of her at Lake Louise/Baniff/Vancover Gardens.

CanadaKidsinGarden.jpg

I tell the kids about "Oma's" love of the Gardens in Canada and promise to show them some pictures when we get home. We decide to head up above and visit the rest of the Canadian buildings as well as the gift shop.

After we are finished, we go in search of the cart that sells the Torontopolitan but find that the machine is down and there are no Torontopolitan today, EH? We depart Canada empty handed, but where should we go now, EH?

:wave2: I followed you over from the Universal Boards. Can't wait to read the rest of your report.

Great score on the room. Sorry you missed the storytellers though.

Can't wait to read more!:goodvibes

Thanks for following me over...I hope you wont be disappointed...

I am so sorry you missed the story tellers. If it makes you feel any better... I only caught 2..and we were there DURING and had lots of time.

I do think you got some pixie dust with the room though. WOW!!! Very pretty.

Love the scrapbook pages :thumbsup2

Thanks Ann...after hearing about your room! I am jealous too! Heather had so much fun with the story tellers...disappointed, but in the end it worked out for the best.

Luvin all the updates.. We were supposed to go to Chef Mickey's but didn't happen :( Your room looks great and great views.

Sorry Chef Mickey's did not work out...

The Santa's and storytellers are all the same thing. They were calling them storytellers when we were there because some of the countries don't have Santa.

Your room looks amazing. I am so going to have to look into renting DVC points the next time I go without free dining! I love the views, space, and washer and dryer convenience. We will be staying in the cabins at Fort Wilderness. We also have a family of 5 making it harder to find a room that is affordable.

I know how hard family of 5 rooms are...we did not look at the cabins because for us that would not be a treat (we have a cabin) so I wanted to do something else. Even the "Family rooms" at the values are not much of a savings.

You are going to have to teach me how to digital scrapbook!!

Yes, your room is so different from the other 1BR BWVs I've been in. The set up seems more similar to that of OKW with an open plan. I love it!! Congrats on scoring the jackpot!! Great view too!

Tink...the software I am using (Creative Memories Storybook Maker) is really easy to use. I am loving this and I have pages completed without having to drag out my scrapbooking stuff and then put it all away again when I am done.

EH! I noticed all the snow birds from Michigan say it too, lol. The boys look cute in the ears. I never noticed the hockey sticks on the ears before!

I have some friends from Minnesota, and they say it too! Along with the other accent!

I've been reading your reports the past few days and am all caught up now, so I just subscribed. Love your room at BWV! I just heard about renting DVC points when I joined this board and it's definitely something I need to learn more about. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip :)

I hate it when posts get lost... I have had it happen a couple times... VERY frustrating!!!

I have always wondered if the clown slide was less creepy in person. The whole theme all together looks awesome... but kinda cant get past that creepy clown.

What is this Toronto...drink??? I have to think about trying something new.

I always enjoy the Canada show...and all the "grounds" to Canada. I mean... up and around and down... you do kinda feel a bit more taken away there than say... Norway.. Butchart Gardens, btw, is not far from where I live. If you and the kids ever do go there... let me know!!!

BTW, don't you just love going into Epcot through the International Gateway? It feels almost like a private entrance. :goodvibes

Geez I've missed quite a few updates!

I agree Tammie. It's not Disney until you glimpse the castle!

You did a lot of fun resort hopping really early. I'm surprised your family didnt fight you over it!

No good about missing the story tellers!
That is a gorgeous hotel room!

I love all the scrapbook pages. I'm sure the TR writing is helping to do that as well!

Can't wait to see what beverage of choice you went to find, eh?!

What beer was your DH going to get Mosehead or something else? I miss the beaver tales there too, from what I’ve been able to figure out is the original company went bankrupt and sold of some of the locations that it had. Since then someone else has bought them and who knows maybe they will come back to WDW at some point, as they is always a line at the location at the Toronto Zoo when they are open

Is your background Dutch by any chance, I’m only asking because my brothers fiancé is of Dutch background and calls her Grandmother Oma too.

Ah yes the fine symbols of Canada hockey, the lumberjack, the beaver and the Mounties. Also I’m not so sure about your use of the word Eh at the end of your last sentence, but it’s a good try at the use of it. It’s actually quote complicated when we use it, but the funny thing is we do it without thinking of it, so it’s hard to explain how to use it.

Gewürztraminer, Brats, Caramel and a little
Polka

After leaving Canada empty handed, I decided it was time to head over towards Deutschland for our dinner ADR.

6Germany.jpg

4kidsinGermany.jpg

Boo instantly recognized the person on top of the pillar as St. George. He had done a report about him when he was in 2nd grade and reminded us that he is the Patron Saint of Boy Scouts...how about that Catholic Education at work even at WDW!

Remember, we are winging this afternoon since my storyteller touring plan had to be dumped in the trash. I decided that our first stop would be that caramel shop that I kept reading about that had opened since my last visit. Not to be disappointed, the smell of caramel lured the entire family into Karamelle-Kuche without any coaxing. We stood for a while and watched the caramel popcorn be made, and decided that we had to use our first couple of snack credits on a couple of bags for later on during CP (I had brought a couple of gallon sized zip lock bags and zipped the popcorn up for safe keeping…okay, yes we all had a few bites.

3BooCaramelStore.jpg

Then it was off to explore the gift shops, where Ab decided that she needed to buy a new pickle for the tree since her littlest brother when he was three decided to take hers of the tree and shatter it.

2AbPickleTree.jpg

After exploring the Christmas/Glass store I took the kids across to the main gift shop where we smashed pennies, stopped at the Kidcot station for autographs, found more hats to model, and watch the Coo-Coo Clocks (which Goo has loved since he was a baby).

germany001.jpg

It was nearing time to check in at the Biergarten for dinner, but first Jeff and I decided it was time to make a stop for an adult treat, some German wine. We both love German wine (a couple in our parish at home are German wine makers, both from Germany). Jeff and I made our tasting selections at the Weinkeller, where I found my favorite…Schmitt Sohne Eiswein (Ice Wine), which is a wonderfully sweet dessert wine. I wish I would have bought an bottle.

1JeffWineFlight.jpg

Afterwards we went and checked into the Biergarten and within a few moments were seated. I had chosen the Biergarten for dinner as a treat to Jeff and his “German” heritage. We all love kraut and Bratwurst, so I knew we would find something on the buffet to eat along with trying some new German food, plus I was dying to try some of that Bavarian Cheese Cake that I had read about.

1BiergartenSign.jpg

At dinner we were seated with an older man and new young Asian bride on their honeymoon :rolleyes1, I am not sure they enjoyed seating with us so we made sure we were between them and the kids. Overall the food was good, nothing to rave about. Ab especially liked the Rote Gruetze with Vanilla Sauce, which a cute CM German boy instructed her on the correct way to eat it…your pour the vanilla sauce over the berries, which she had to come back and instruct us on.

During dinner the band started up, and I was expecting (and looking forward to) a lot more polka music, but what we got was a lot of Christmas songs.

1band.jpg

1horns.jpg

Near the end of the band set they called the kids on stage and told them the story of Silent Night, did a little polka dance and gave them each a gold coin of German chocolate, which was a nice touch.

1kidstrydancing.jpg

With dinner over, we still had about 30 minutes before I calculated we needed to line up for the Candlelight Processional, hmmm where should we go?

Not sure what beer he was going to get...he loves any type of beer, and while in Canada you should drink local, right?

I am betting that Beaver Tails are like what we call Indian Fry Bread or Elephant Ears...yummy!

Lol where they taught the proper use of it too?

Guess not, but it is sure fun to say!

Is your background Dutch by any chance, I’m only asking because my brothers fiancé is of Dutch background and calls her Grandmother Oma too.

No, my grandmother is almost full blooded English/Scottinh...in high school I took German and Oma is German for grandmother and we all just started calling her that and it stuck...and was very fitting!

Ah yes the fine symbols of Canada hockey, the lumberjack, the beaver and the Mounties. Welcome...I think that renting DVC points is the way to go if you want a Deluxe room at Moderate prices...we dont live for free dining so that really is not an issue for us like others.

There is a great website with a forum for renting...that I used to research this idea...

I lost it 2 times...arhhhhh

I have always wondered if the clown slide was less creepy in person. The whole theme all together looks awesome... but kinda cant get past that creepy clown.

He is different...I really think I would like to stay at the BC/YC for that pool!

What is this Toronto...drink??? I have to think about trying something new.

Yep it is a cocktail...

Ingredients

1/2 ounce Chambord

1.5 ounce Iceberg Vodka

1/2 ounce Cranberry juice

1/2 ounce Orange juice

Mix all ingredients together. Garnish with a cherry.

I always enjoy the Canada show...and all the "grounds" to Canada. I mean... up and around and down... you do kinda feel a bit more taken away there than say... Norway.. Butchart Gardens, btw, is not far from where I live. If you and the kids ever do go there... let me know!!!

Might just have to take you up on the offer...

BTW, don't you just love going into Epcot through the International Gateway? It feels almost like a private entrance. :goodvibes

Sure does and so less crowded!

Geez I've missed quite a few updates!

I agree Tammie. It's not Disney until you glimpse the castle!

You did a lot of fun resort hopping really early. I'm surprised your family didnt fight you over it!

They did not have a choice...I lied and said the parks were not open yet...:scared1: Actually, I think that they really enjoyed it.

No good about missing the story tellers!
That is a gorgeous hotel room!

I keep telling you about DVC!

I love all the scrapbook pages. I'm sure the TR writing is helping to do that as well!

The TR is sure helping get me organized with the pages.

Can't wait to see what beverage of choice you went to find, eh?!

Sadly we found nothing in Canada...but Germany was much better!

Messing around with the digital scrapbooking tonight...

I just love your TR, even if I don't post much:)
First off, your room is marvelous and huge. Love it!
Secondly, Candada is the only part of WS that we didn't see because we ran out of time. I soooo wanted to check it out too. Plus it was dark when we were there so harder to see some of the outdoor things. Wanna go back!

Awe that's a good picture of Abby!

Sounds like y'all enjoyed dinner at least somewhat. How was your Cheesecake that you wanted?

Luvin the update. The scrap book page is cool as well. I love how educational Epcot is and yet it's still fun! I'm not supposed to be learning stuff on holidays though.

Great updates!

I can't believe that room! The size! The balconies! The views! I think you hit Pixie Dust Mountain!

I saw in one of your replies an interest in The Beach Club- if you ever need info on the resort, I know where to send you!

I love the Martin Short version of the movie in Canada! Even the boys like it.

I can't wait to check out the Karmelle shoppe in Germany- it opened after our last trip.

Killing Time in the USA

After leaving Biergarten, we had about 45 minutes until I figured we needed to line up for CP (I figured even with the CPDP that we needed to be in line 45minutes prior to the show)…so what to do with that time?

boyslookingout.jpg

Since the CP is at the American Pavillion, a good choice would be to go ahead and view the exhibits there. I have to tell you that the kids were less than thrilled with the idea, we live in the United States after all was Ab and Boo’s reasoning. But being the good mother, teacher, and lover of American History their complaints went unheard and we headed inside…cause there are some really cool things on display, even though we do not have time to see the show.

franklinandtwain.jpg

There is a journal from Mark Twain…remember the Tom & Huck Movie Night?

willrogers.jpg

Will Rogers…remember the place in Colorado Springs and he is from Oklahoma.

Even if they did not enjoy it, Jeff and I did. With time approaching to line up for CP we head back outside towards and towards where the line should be…when I was shocked to find how large the line had already grown! Yikes, did I just make another fatal mistake to our touring plans today? We head towards the end of the line and find in already almost into Morocco! These is not looking good and I am saddened by any hopes of a close to the front seat for the performance. While in line I find myself having a silent touring plan pout, that once again I underestimated the time schedule. Sometime during my pout I get a text from a DIS friend Noel who is currently dining in France and wants to do a DISmet after the CP. I am excited to meet her and her family! I give them Jeff’s number to text me, afterwards because my phone is just about DEAD. Just when the family is getting cranky about standing in line, the line begins to move. Just where will we end up being seated?
