A newbie's trip just got interesting...HOLY CRAP I'm PREGNANT!!!-ME TAGS ARRIVED!

So. it's been a full 48 hours now since I found out I am pregnant. All is well. I'm done with my breakdowns, and now it's all about planning Disney with baby in belly.

I posted on another thread a question about rides. I, personally, think that many precautions are to avoid lawsuits. With that said, I'm not stupid and want to be careful about keeping my baby safe. It amazes me though there are people that think I am a horrible parent to be for even asking if the Safari is really dangerous! And as far as test track goes, driving with my DH in Boston during rush hour is probably more dangerous. I will do the right thing and talk to my dr. But am I such a horrible person? Am I the only one that wonders?

What about when people didn't know they were pregnant till 3 or 4 months along! They drank wine, smoked and probably went on every coaster on the east coast! I turned out all right and my mom did all those things.

Just wondering what you think???

First off. Conratulations!:yay::banana: Second. You are not horrible in anyway. I think you are going to make yourself more sick by worrying about the whole rides thing then if you were to actually ride Everest. I am not saying ride Everest though:sad2: You sound like a smart woman who just wants some peace of mind. There are so many things to do, see and ride at Disney, I think most are safe for you and your baby, I agree with everyone who said it's more of a lawsuit thing. Not to mention seeing Disney through the eyes of your DD is going to be so wonderful.

I am enjoying your pre TR, looking forward to more.

Hi Jupers!

I'm writing to wish you a happy WDW trip! Can't wait to hear about it when you return! I hope you feel well on the trip!

Ok, one more wake up! Thanks everyone for letting me know you're out there. I'm almost done packing and ready to go. DD seems nervous about the whole trip no matter how much I tell her it will be fun.

I did ask the Dr about the rides and basically was told to avoid all the biggies. The only thing I'm thinking about going on is Kali River Rapids, but I'll check it out first. The reality is I couldn't live with myself if something happened because I went on every ride I wasn't supposed to.

I'm nervous about all the walking now. I almost pass out everyday at 4 and need a nap so I plan to make sure I'm at the hotel by then.

Thanks for all your support! I'll write a report, probably a long one, when we get back. And I'm making my way to all your pre-trippies now...

Talk to you all on July 1!!!!

I just started reading....great start and congratulations!!

I will have to come back to read it all though.

Yeah!!!! - only one more day!!! :woohoo: How exciting! Have a great time! I look forward to reading your post trip report. ;)

Hi,

Congrats and enjoy yourself! You can do most of the rides.

In MK the bumpy ones are Big Thunder and Space Mountain. Splash is smooth, including the drop.

In AK, the Safari ride can be pretty jouncy. Kali is alright for the ride itself, but at the end watch it when you bump up to the boat ahead of you...sometimes that can be a pretty good bump. Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl are rough. Everest might make you really sick if you're still having nausea. You are really in for treats at all the shows, however! Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo, Tough To Be A Bug, Flights of Wonder (great bird show) and the most wonderful show of all...petting the goats in Affection Section after the train ride from Conservation Station to Rafiki's Planet Watch.

In MGM, Rockin' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror are pretty intense...I sit in the front of RR and it's not really so rough as it is fast and intense...the back slams you around though.

At Epcot I'd skip the side of Mission Space that uses the gravitron...and Test Track bumps you around a bit with starts and stops. Soarin' is wonderful and smooth! I can't think of anything except Mission Space and Test Track over there that even remotely bump you...and even Test Track is on the milder side for that. The Maelstrom in Norway is not a rough ride.

Good Luck and have lots of fun!

Well, I made it and we're back from 8 nights in Disney! It was wonderful and stressful all at the same time!!! Spent 2 nights at POR and 6 at WL.

My first observation. WL was beautiful but for some reason I liked POR better and would choose to stay there first. The food court was way better and I enjoyed the pool better. However, the key to POR is to get in a building close to the main building.

Second observation, if at all possible I would avoid this time of year simply because of the heat. I'm a teacher :teacher: so we didn't have much choice but I thought the heat and the crowds were a little overwhelming.

Having said that not sure where to begin. Guess I'll start with Day 1... Took ME and arrived at POR at 5pm. Our flight landed at 3:30 so I thought everything was smooth and prompt. Check-in was quick and easy and we checked out the resort and headed to DTD for dinner. We didn't have ressies so we waited for the Rainforest Cafe, long wait but it was fine and we were just excited to be there. When we got back to our room our luggage and the baskets I ordered weren't there I called down for them and they had them over to us right away. It was late so we all passed out.

Day 2 Saturday...Woke up had breakfast at the sit-down at POR and it was excellent. I had the banana stuffed french toast, which was delicious.:) We spent Saturday at the pool and it was wonderful! Loved the POR pool. DD loved the kiddie pool and Dh and I really liked the slide. Headed to DTD for dinner again, no ressies but ended up at Fulton's. Fabulous meal there!!! I will post quick dining reviews on the dining board too. Will write more later...

:confused3 Day 3...

On day 3, Sunday, we were switching resorts from POR to WL. We had luggage at our room at 7am and were off. We had to take a bus to MK to take another bus to WL to check in. Surprisingly, when we got to WL our room was ready! We went up took a look around then took the boat to CR for breakfast at Chef Mickey's. It was wonderful. After breakfast we went to MGM to check out the last day of Star Wars. Honestly, I didn't really enjoy MGM. There's not too much there for the little one except the playhouse disney show, which she loved. It was hot as anything and super-crowded. After MGM we went back to WL. We rested, had our luggage brought up and headed to MK. I was excited but exhausted. I must say, the crowds were crazy, you couldn't move. :scared1: I won't be rushing to go back in June any time soon. But we did have dinner at LTT and loved it! It was probably my favorite meal of the week. Food was good and characters were fun.

Day 4...

On day 4, Monday, we were going to spend time at the pool but after an hour DH was antsy so we went over to MK. Spent a few hours there then while DD napped in the stroller DH and I had a drink (no alcohol for me) and waited for MIL to arrive. When she came we got her settled and then headed to Epcot. I originally had ressies at the Concourse steakhouse but when we went to Chef Mickey's we didn't like the look of it so we cancelled. We decided to take our chances and eat in Epcot. We waited for an hour for Alfredo's. We were supposed to eat outside but since we were last in line they put us inside. My DH's dinner was good, he had the veal. But, mine was awful. Do not get the lasagna. It tasted like Chef Boyardee. I was really disappointed. We missed Illuminations then headed back to WL.

Day 5...

On day 5, Tuesday, we went to AK. This was probably the hottest day. DD really loved the shows, but by 3pm her and I were wiped. We left DH and MIL to go on the safari and we headed back for a nap. Went to MK that night, it was a little cooler and a little less crowded, so it was a little more fun.

Day 6...

On day 6, Wednesday, was DD's birthday. Had ressies for lunch at CRT so we took our time going to MK. CRT was great, totally worth it for DD. Next, we had to be at Epcot by 4 for DH's Divequest. He loved it!! If you have a scuba diver in the family he/she will love it. However, this is where it gets interesting...While DH was diving my MIL and I asked a cast member a question. The CM took a liking to DD and took us to the Seas (where we were going) and turns out she was a dream team member. :wizard: She was going to get us on the Nemo ride and jump the line but the ride was down and she spent over an hour hanging out with us. I was hoping for fastpasses or something, but no luck. Anyway, we were with her and got on the escalator. We were just standing there and the escalator started to eat DD's shoe. I pulled DD's foot out of her shoe and smoke started coming out and the dream team member pulled the shoe out. Thankfully, DD wasn't hurt, but her shoe was mangled. When we got to the bottom she had us go into turtle talk with crush and had DD do the introduction. She said she would come back with something to fix the shoe problem. After the show she came back and gave me a certificate for $25. At the time I said thank-you and we left. However, the fine print said it was towards crocs or flip flops.

I had the certificate and we found DH. We told him all about it and showed him the mangled shoe. AS we were leaving Epcot, I told DD to pick out a nice Minnie Doll. I was going to use the certificate for the doll since DD doesn't like crocs or flip flops. We went to the store and they said no. We headed over to guest relations and they were like that's all you're getting. I tried to explain that what they gave me didn't even replace what was now gone. Just then the dream team member we were with popped out, but it was too late for anyone to really help us. I was livid! I wasn't looking for anything crazy. I would've eaten the cost of the shoe, since they had nothing for her, to get her a doll she wanted. Not to mention, $25 doesn't even cover the cost of the nikey's the escalator ate, and it wasn't even enough to cover crocks! It would've cost me $10 if she wanted crocks. Anyway, there was nothing I could do that night so the next morning I went to WL concierge and told them what happened, I even showed them the shoe and they said go to the store, pick out the biggest Minnie and they would take care of it. They did. DD got her Minnie, but was without sneaks the rest of the week. Our magical moment with the dream team was definitely ruined...:sad2:

It amazes me though there are people that think I am a horrible parent to be for even asking if the Safari is really dangerous! And as far as test track goes, driving with my DH in Boston during rush hour is probably more dangerous. I will do the right thing and talk to my dr. But am I such a horrible person? Just wondering what you think???

I know I have a ton more to read, but I have to say -- been there, done that, even did some of the rides. Did NOT ride RnRC (and I swear I didn't pout -- DH is a liar) but did ride the Safari. Did NOT get to drink around the world, I got to pee around the world. :rotfl:

Took a different perspective, but I still had fun at a slower pace. And it was nice to take breaks because I "had" to, not because I was begging for a break from COMMANDO style.

Well I didn't get to have any alcohol which was a bummer, DH and I like to have a 'drink around the world' at Epcot. Also I recall getting tired sooner, and not being able to go on any of the 'fun' rides, but other than that it was basically 'business as usual' type trip and I still had a really great time.

OMG, I just typed almost the same thing! :thumbsup2
