I guess we are overdue for an update, so here we go.
We are up to Day 9 of our vacation--Sunday, the 26th.
After our adventurous day the day before -- shopping, lots of coffee stops, car accident and dinner, we decided we were going to sleep in and not meet Nicki for coffee. Nicki and I both knew that we were going to need a leisurely morning with some rest and knew we'd have coffee the next two days.
So Mark and I slept in until about 9 a.m. We showered and then headed off to Starbucks to bring coffee back to the condo and then have breakfast on the patio. Mark had some fruit and yogurt and cereal and I had some toast. We sat and just enjoyed the view and saw a few dolphins swimming in the distance and then got into our suits to go down to the pool.
We stayed down there for about three hours before going back upstairs for lunch. Here are some pictures from our day at the pool:
Some of the view standing at the railing of the pool:
More at the pool:
Yes, my husband is playing "fishies" in the pool all by himself (sometimes I do wonder about him....

).
A couple more views before going upstairs for lunch and a little siesta:
Right before we went upstairs, Nicki texted me to see how I was feeling. I texted her back that I was fine and that we were at the pool. I asked her how she was and she said fine; she and Todd had taken pictures of the car's damage and were just chilling all day. It was a good day to just sit back and relax.
We had a very light lunch and then took a nap. After I woke up, I did a load of laundry and sat and read my book on the patio.
We started to get hungry for dinner but really had no idea where we wanted to go. Mark suggested we go to the place where he had gone with Nicki and Todd in April. So we got in the car and headed there. However, when we got there, we found the place was closed until October 1 (a lot of restaurants close during "off season" we've learned). So we ended up here:
Now, I have to tell you, we did not like the one we had in the burbs of Chicago at all and I was a little hesitant. But we were hungry and it was there and the prices weren't bad, so that is what we decided on.
I started with a nice tasty Pina Colada:
ALERT: No food porn (I promise next year will be totally different while on the Island...there will be food porn!).
We started with the mozarella sticks which were really good. Mark had the crab cake dinner which he said was AWFUL! I had fried shrimp figuring I couldn't go wrong with that--they were typical fried shrimp. It wasn't our best meal of the trip, but it was okay.
After dinner, we thought of going miniature golfing, but it was so HOT and HUMID, that we decided to go to Starbucks for my afternoon coffee and Mark went to Cold Stone Creamery for some pecan ice cream (he wasn't crazy about the ice cream -- said that Baskin Robbins is MUCH better.
We decided to go down to the dock and see if we could find any manatees. We didn't see one tonight, but it was a beautiful, clear night and we did see a couple of dolphins in the distance and lots of different birds.
We went upstairs and watched television for awhile and then went to bed as we were meeting Nicki in the morning for coffee (and the first of our "goodbyes") and going to the beach for the last time this trip.
