A MAGICAL Columbus Day Cruise Texas style 10/6/2012

Got the list. Thank you so much.

We went to DragonCon yesterday in Atlanta to see the parade. I was really skeptical, but it turned out to be incredible. Jack Sparrow and all of his cohorts were there on a giant ship. There were little Disney princesses and Disney villains everywhere! We're not sci- fi extremists (like Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory!), but had a great time.

Got me inspired to pull out all of our pirate gear for the cruise. Now, I'm making my Michael's list for the FE gifts. So excited!!!

We were SO going to go to the DragonCon Parade on Saturday....but we opted to go to the Art Festival in Marrietta Square instead. Kinda wish we would have done the parade.....oh well there is always next year =) The art festival was nice but my DD got kinda bored with it pretty quick.

Hey everyone!!! I am back from Atlanta (man the traffic is awful....so glad we don't have to drive in that everyday!!!) and I just want to let everyone know that we only have 30 MORE DAYS!!!!!!! DH and I are going to Hobby Lobby to get stuff for the FE gifts and shirts so I can get started on our custom Pirate Night tshirts for us and my Grandparents......so beyond excited!!! I still have one more call left to book from Mickey Mouse and I think I just may have the Mouse call DD tonight in celebration of our 30 day mark!!!! Hope everyone is getting their packing list together it won't be long!!!! Also don't forget about the DIS meet on Embarkation day at 2:30 at Studio Sea :cheer2:

I agree! Happy 30 days!

I have a question for past cruisers. We plan on taking our reusable mugs from Disney World. I know that the drink stations have 6 oz. cups and I need to fill those up and transfer the soda to my refillable mugs to prevent the spread of germs. However, once I fill them, can I take them into the movie theater?:confused3

Just signed up yesterday for the Oct. 6th cruise out of Galveston! It will be me, my DH and our DS (10). We live north of Houston and just couldn't pass up the great deal. We're very excited! This is our 5th Disney Cruise and our DS's 4th. I hope there will be other boys around my DS's age. Now to catch up with all of you and get our excursions booked.

See you all soon!

Welcome!
I have boy/girl twins who are 9 1/2 and we are from Fort Worth. It's my second Disney Cruise but my kids first. So it will be good for them to meet a friend who knows the ropes! Looking forward to meeting you!

Yes, you can take your own drinks and candy into the movies.

I love the less than a month countdown! I've been looking at Grand Cayman options. I am determined to give it another try now that tendering will not be a big issue for is. Any ideas? I've talked to both Dolphin places and am leaning towards a Dolphin Stingray combo, but am afraid my 6 & 8 yr old may not be ready for it. I have thought about just a beach day - or maybe taking the bus to the turtle farm. What are your favorites?

When Andre was 5 I took him on a cruise and all he wanted todo was get kissed by a dolphin so my daughter took him on the dolphin excursion in Cozumel, they didnt swim with the dolphins but did get in the water with them Andre was happy the dolphin kissed him. I think that was his favorite thing he did, that and eat alot of shrimp. We are just going todo seven mile beach in the Caymans and take a quick trip to Hell because someone told Andre that I was crazy and there is no place called Hell and I didnt know what I was talking about so we are going there so I can take his picture for proof. Ah the things grandmas do.

I tried to book the Costa Maya PA, Boat Blast Snorkeling and Beach Break, but it wasn't available until now! I just signed my daughter and myself to go. Really excited about the 2 man boats, snorkeling, and beach time!

Have fun in hell...:rotfl2:...I am thinking about just taking the bus to the 7 mile beach - I may continue to change my mind over the month...:headache: I did reserve the Dolphin and Turtle Farm on the ship.... Thanks for the feedback about your experience with Andre. I think they might like it, but my Daughter nearly drowned me going snorkeling due to fear of the little fish and my son is just now getting over fear of animals, so even though both are telling me they would love it, I'm not sure I want to find out half way through the encounter they are terrified.

I am having my friend make my kids some autograph books and I'm trying to figure out how to have her make them. If I put like a minnie mouse page, mickey page etc would they sign on that specific page if we hand over the book to have it autographed by all of the characters? Or is that too much trouble for them? Do people usually just give them blank autograph books? I'm wanting to make it a scrapbook also so I want to put pictures on the pages that are autographed.

I'm planning on using post-it's and stagger them like tabs on both the top and side of the book with the characters's names. On each tab, I'm going to put an arrow pointing down to the page to be signed. I'm also planning on putting a post-it on the cover explaining to sign on the right side. Does this make sense? I always make autograph books with the autograph on the one side and then put their picture with the character on the other side. You can go on Pinterest and find great scrapbooking ideas. Just search Disney scrapbook. You can print what you like and give it to your friend to use as a guide.

Thanks, very helpful!

If I give pillowcases to guest services for character signatures, do I need to put parchment paper or wax paper inside to prevent signatures from one side leaking to the other side? what is the best color to use for these? I am thinking about using white fabric with character trim fabric on the ends?

Also, anyone in the FE group B or anyone doing the whole group as I am, please do not panic when you see three kids names on my FE. My oldest is in middle school and in the middle of her volleyball season so she is staying home with grandma and grandpa. Just the youngest two will be sailing with us. She did get to go to DW for Star Wars weekends and the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts last May with no little tagalong siblings so it is not as if she has not taken a recent trip! :cheer2:

I am so excited that we are so close! pirate:

We were at the 100th Girl Scouts celebration as well! We also enjoyed the Star Wars weekend! We have done the pillowcase before. We put a flat clipboard inside and use only fabric markers. When you get home, go over each character's name at least 3 times. I kept the markers in a pencil bag with giant clips to adjust the case for the characters to sign. You won't need the clips if you are dropping it off.

Here is a picture of our daughter's pillowcase...
