A ~Magical~ Adventure! Disney Magic 4/13/12

You do not need a passport for the cruise Birth Certificates are all that is needed. That being said actual passports are suggested in case someone has an emergancy or misses the ship they will need them to travel back to the US or to meet the ship at the next port. The passport card would not help in either instance. So if you do not plan on getting actual passports I would say getting the passport cards would be a waste of money.

Say we just use our birth certificates, do we have to bring them with us everytime we get off the ship at a port? Or will it be easy to reboard?

To get on and off the ship at each port, all you need is a photo id (drivers license) and your key to the world card (room key).

Hi Sarah and everyone!

We are new to this forum and new to cruising, it's the Boxa Family, DH Fred, DS Michael (4) and DS Declan (3). We would like to participate in the FE gift giving, I Just ordered our FE holder from eBay (that was fun and easy) but I'm now going crazy reading posts and looking at pictures of FE gifts...I'm certainly not good at making anything myself so I need to come up with a "purchase" idea...

We'll be in stateroom 7532, have late dining (God hep the couple sitting with us...LOL, but actually agreed with what someone dais about being worry not to be ready for the earlier sitting)

Lookig forward to our vacation!

Tatiana

Welcome to the cruise and welcome to disboards!! I have added you to the FE list! I am not creative in e craft department either, so have no fears! Gifts i have given in the past include, magnets (ordered from vistaprint), picture frames, carabener key chains, etc. Gifts i've been given include, magnets (printed from home or vistaprint), key chains, candy from hometown (ex. Chocolate from hershey, pa), pirate rubber duckies, tattoos, stickers, etc.

The important thing is that you have fun! :cool1:

How about St. Maarten?

I'm in planning mode for the port stops. In looking at St. Thomas, what would be a good beach or port adventure for a 6 year old. I was thinking one of the catamaran excursions with snorkling would be nice but with a 6 year old??? The other thing that looks interesting is the dolphin encounter, but it says the excursion is 8 hours long and we will only be there for 7 hours. I read that Magens Beach is pretty nice as well. So many choices...

Sorry I'm not really any help with kids on excursions, as we dont have any kids. As far as timimg goes, if you go on a disney cruise line port adventure (excursion) you're return to the ship will be guaranteed as long as you stay with the group. Some excursions allow you to leave he group early and explore on your own. If you choose to do so, keep in mind that you are responsible forbgetting back to the boat on time!

We went on the catamaran snorkeling in cadtaway and a 6 yr old would do fine! It's about an hour or so of snorkeling if i recall. I have never done the dolphin encounter.

Disboards and the trip review threads are excellent places to gain info on excursions! I hope someone is able to help you more than i am. Just breathe and relax...all you need is some faith, trust, and pixie dust!

Welcome carolinarose and family!! I'm excited that you will be cruising with us! I will go ahead and add you to the FE list. You can either post the required info, or you wait until you have 10 posts and send me a PM (i know some people don't like posting personal info).

If you have any cruising questions, this is the place to be! Welcome aboard!

Here is the rest of the info that you need for the FE. My daughter's name is Lizzie, we are in room 2578 and we will be dining late. She loves anything princess or fairy related.

This is good to know. We are doing the French Riviera that goes to the beach for quite a bit of time. We wanted to see the shops also. So we can leave the beach and just find our own way back? Is that hard to do?

I also read that there are water taxis? Has anyone done this?

Also, we have a 4 year old that will be 1 week from being 5 . How serious are they about the 5 year old age limit on excursions?

Sorry. That was in response to the previous post about being able to leave your tour and go off on your own. (still learning how to post on here)

Also, I did not mean to alarm anyone with the Facebook question. I had to ask before I joined because my FIL does not like if we post personal info. I get it... He worries:)

We are doing the Turtle bay and Honeymoon beach excursion. It seems like fun. Snorkling and hanging out on a beach having a BBQ. decided to do that and take it easy in St. Marteen, maybe just take the water ferry over to the beach by where the boat docks.
Also to hepburn when booking online DCL will not allow you to book something for a child that is not the minimum age you will probably have to ask about that on the ship.

Hi everyone! My name is Bonnie and we just finished booking our cruise! so excited!!!! My son, 8, and my mom Millie will be going - we are arriving 3 days prior to the cruise to spend time in Disney World! Hope to meet some of you!! :)

I think we would like to participate in this FE exchange too! sounds like fun! I just have to come up with some sort of neat idea! haha!

We are from Canada and it looks like the only ones so far! but at least there is some friends from further north then us! I am super excited to meet some or all of you! I think this is going to be a blast!!

If anyone has info on the beach in st maarten that the planes fly over that would be cool!!! I am trying to figure out what is the best plan of attack... I know we will want to do some exploring & shopping around, then the beach or the beach first then see how time goes... I have no idea how far it would be from the dock to this particular beach and is there shopping/markets around it?? any ideas or help would be great!!

thanks!!!

Welcome to your cruise thread and to the DIS Boards Bonnie! You will definitely be able to find answers to most if not all of your questions somewhere in these boards.

Don't feel too left out being from Canada. We're from Maine and you know most Americans think that Maine is part of Canada anyways!

The FE exchange for this cruise is being organized by Sarah Cottrell from Alaska. You will need to private message her directly with your information which she has previously posted on this thread. Her call sign is hamm1207. Also, I believe the moderators will allow you to send private messages after your 10th post, so feel free to post questions or thoughts or whatever to get yourself up to 10.

See you in April!
Pete

Welcome to the cruise and welcome to disboards!! We are practicly Canadians...we live in Alaska. We absolutely love Canada. It's one of our favorite places to visit!

I will add you to the FE list, stating that you will be participating. If you are willing, please let me know your son's name also (some people customize gifts), because i am making special gifts for everyone. Please also let me know the following info-stateroom number, names, any special notes or concerns. If you'd like, i can also add other information to the list, such as hometown, dining time, etc.

Thanks and welcome to the cruise!

thanks guys!

I am really looking forward to the cruise.... its all I can think of! lol!!

any one have the info for sure? I mean, I have seen on a few sites that there is a pirate night, or a tropical night... do we know for sure which there will be?

another question...

the formal night - im wondering how formal is formal. I am thinking a nice cocktail dress (something I'd wear to a christmas party or a wedding) is fancy enough. My son will be in a shirt and tie - I think putting him in a suit is just too much, besides take up way too much space in the suitcase! haha!!

ok I have more questions lol - and Im trying to get to 10 posts! haha!

I went on a cruise a few years ago and they recommended one suitcase per person + carry on bag... is this the same for Disney? I am thinking one suit case each for 14 days (we are going to disney world also) worth of clothes and shoes could fill up fast never mind room for souvenirs! I'm thinking of ways to pack as light as possible but I'll admit it - I'm a girl and have lots of "stuff" to bring! lol!!
