Well, I just booked our airfare...I'd been hoping to fly into John Wayne/Santa Ana because it's the closest, and I found out the ground transfer to the Grand Californian is the lowest price there (using a taxi since we're a party of 3). When I checked the airfare two days ago, the lowest I could find flying out of the closest home airport...we have to drive 2 to 4 hours to get to a major airport...but the airfare was $326 before taxes and fees. YIKES! :crazy2: So, like I've been doing for the last month...I get online tonight and first thing I do is check the airfares.... :hyper: Holey Moley! The fare for the exact same flight was $189 before taxes and fees!!! That is a $137 savings....and times 3 for us! :woohoo: So, I booked it... :worship: to the Travel Gods!

So, we will arrive at SNA (John Wayne) on June 3 (Saturday) around 1:30pm and plan to just use a taxi. After researching here at the Know It All DIS DL Board...I found out it's the most economical transportation for 3 people. I checked the SNA website and it lists Yellow Taxi as it's provider and when I called their number I was told it would cost around $35 one way, which matched the price I'd seen here.

My question for the locals and experienced is....are there other taxi companies? Or is Yellow the most reliable? Oh, heck...any taxi info ya'll could share would be greatly appreciated...like is it gonna be a big deal to just hail a cab when we land or should I arrange something? Okay, I know that some of ya'll are just doing this :rotfl2: right now, but understand that we live in the middle of corn and soybean fields...cabs are not like southern California...for goodness sake, if I want to ride a bus in my town I'd better be going to the public school cause that is all we have...lol Also, any idea of how long the trip between the airport and the Grand Californian might take on a Saturday?

Our return flight is on Wednesday, June 7 at 4pm...anything we might want to plan for at this time of day? I know we need to be at the airport 1 1/2 - 2 hours prior, so I'm thinking we shouldn't have to contend with much traffic, but any info ya'll think might help would be great.

Then the last question...John Wayne Airport...never flown in or out of there, so what can ya'll tell me about it?

Well, I think that should do it for this round...sure there will be more questions between now and June. Thanks for all the help!

Its a nice mid size airport. Its pretty quick to get thru security and to your gate for departure. As for a taxi when you arrive, dont worry to much about it. You can go right out side the door and tell them you need a cab. There will be a line of them waiting. Just confirm a flat rate before you get in. Not a problem.

Thanks! I appreciate it! I'd heard it should be pretty smooth getting through at the airport. I will remember to confirm a flat rate before we get in a taxi. It's kinda strange, but I've only been in a taxi once in my life and that was just this past Christmas at WDW, so I'm not familiar enough with the whole thing. Thanks again!
