Pros like others have said is cheaper than directly through Disney. For example the biggest discount Disney typically runs on deluxe resorts is 35% off rack rates. That would make a standard view Boardwalk studio around $2100 during Food and Wine with the discount. However that studio only requires 78 points to book for the week. At a cost of $16 per point that would only be $1250. That's just one example showing the potential savings (and obviously you may not always be able to get 35% off rack rate). However you do typically give up your ability to change vacation dates or cancel without penalty like you would have booking right through Disney and you do not get daily maid service (have to pay extra for that)
