I get the feeling that a lot of you Disney Brides-To-Be are much younger then I am. Also, I think for most of you this is your first wedding.

I am 43 and my STBDH is 45. We have both been married before. Both of us had big church weddings and huge receptions. He also has four children (9 to 15).

We chose to have a Disney wedding for a couple of reasons.

First off, because we LOVE Disney World. And really love the WL. :bounce:

But also because we wanted something really special for just the two of us. And nothing is more special - and magical - than Disney.

We had planned on coming home and having a mock ceremony and a big reception two weeks later but decided against it. His parents couldn't care less that we are getting married. (His previous marriage ended in a nasty divorce and I think this is their way of dealing with it. As much as I am hurt by their indifference I will NOT let it rain on our parade.) Plus his two sons (13 & 15) are PAS'ed to the max and didn't really care about our marriage, they just wanted to dress up in tuxedos and top hats. His two daughters (9 & 10) only saw it as a big party and was asking if their friends could sleep over.

Given all that - and the fact that with only 40 people we were already up to $18,000, we decided to save ourselves the aggrivation and just focus on our Disney wedding.

We are very very happy with our decision. :cloud9:

My nosey questions.......how old are you? If this is your first wedding, are you having guests at WDW? (We are not.) Are they staying for a vacation too? Why did you chose a Disney wedding?

:rolleyes1

Hi... I think it is great that the 2 of you are having a Disney Wedding... Will it be just the 2 of you? Or the kids too?

I am 25, and we got married 3 weeks ago. We had a custom wedding with about 100 guests!!! Quite a few of my guests made a vacation out of the time there... It was Spring Break/Easter weekend! We chose Disney b/c we love it there!!! I think it is the happiest place in the whole world! Could you ask for a better place.

Eeks, I have a feeling I'm the youngest one here. I'm 21, DH2B(a few days shy of 21) and I both graduated high school early and met our freshman year of college. Of course we get a ton of nosey people who always ask me how old I am (it probably doesn't help that I still look like I'm in high school, lol) and then ask me why I'm getting married so young. We're both Baptist, and really felt that it was God's plan for us to start our lives together at an early age. But that's a whole other story I guess...

DH and I were 23 and 24 respectively when we got married in Disney last year. It was the first wedding for each of us.

We had 76 guests attend the wedding. Most of them just made a weekend trip out of the wedding (we were married on Friday, and most went home either Sunday or Monday morning).

We chose Disney for our wedding for a couple reason. Years ago, on a trip on the monorail my mom spotted a bride getting out of Cinderella's coach at the WP, and said to me, hey some day that could be you! From then on I was set on a Disney wedding (although I found out while planning the wedding my mom was only kidding when she made that statement. Ooops!). Also, DH accompanied my family on several trips to Disney World, and we got engaged on one of those trips. We both love Disney, and having our wedding there only made sense, especially as almost our entire guest list would have had to travel anyway.

We stayed in Disney for our honeymoon. Most of the places that we looked at as an alternative we couldn't really afford, so we decided to stay in Disney, and made a point to do things that we hadn't done on previous trips. We had a blast!

By the time it is all said and done, I will be 32 and he will be 35. It is a first wedding for both of us. He is ok with a Disney wedding because it is what will make me happy. He like Disney too, but I don't think he is a fanatical about it as I am =). Most of our guests will be family. Other than that, I will have a few close friends there that will put us up around 35 guests.

Don't worry Ashley, I'm 21 but look like I'm 16 too! My fiance is 22, so we will be 22 and 23 respectively when we get married. This is our first marriage and we wanted to make sure that we do it the way we want and have no regrets.
We decided on Disney because it has been a place I've loved since I was 7 and my fiance fell in love with it when we went last year and he proposed. We also wanted to save money and keep the wedding small, so we decided on the intimate wedding.
All of our guests are making a vacation out of this trip since they will be travelling down from Canada. It will just be our parents, siblings and two close friends and as far as I know they are all excited about our destination wedding!

Honeibee - I think your plan sounds wonderful!! I'm so glad to see a bride doing what SHE wants, and not what her family is pressuring her to do either. (Well, I don't know if your (or his) family is pressuring you, but I think you know what I mean). :goodvibes

I'm 26 and DH2B is 29. Had we kept our original plans, we would've been 27 & 30 for our October 5th wedding, but since we've postponed to now what's looking like April of 2007, we'll be 29 & 32.

I *love* Disney, it's genetic (they say the gene is passed down on the mother's side ;) ) DH2B doesn't have quite the same love for it, but really enjoys going to the parks (only with me though :teeth: ).

I really wanted to go to WDW for our honeymoon (I haven't been since 1986 or 87 (I was about 8). He didn't really see the appeal as he's never been, and didn't understand the point since DLR is just a hop, skip and a jump away from us. I had to show him evidence that DLR isn't even a blip on the map of WDW. LOL Once he saw what I was talking about, he lovingly agreed. :love2:

Once we started to really plan the wedding, we decided we didn't want a big to-do. Just something simple, nice and fun! One thing lead to another and we found out about the intimate weddings at WDW. It just seemed perfect for us. Although, we might need to extend the guest list to 15. We are each just having one attendant (our best friends) our parents, my grandma, and just 1 or 2 close relatives. I can't wait! :cloud9:

ETA: This is the first marriage for both of us. (sorry, I forgot to add that in my OP)

We got married last year, the day before by 28th B'day and my husband was 30.

We chose Disney because I wanted a dream wedding and he wanted a small wedding. Disney gave us the best of both worlds. Also, an intimate wedding was the right price.

Of the few guests we had, most of them stayed for at least three days to enjoy the parks. My sister in law and her boyfriend did make a week's vacation out of it. My best friend lives in Orlando, so she's on a permanent vacation there!!

We LOVED our Disney Wedding!!

Pixie dust to you!!!

I have noticed in the year and a half that I have been on this board that there have been several different ages and types of people, so Iw ouldn't worry about it. Of course, the most of the population will be young, first married people. I am an odd one, I am young, second married. I am only 25, but this is my second marriage - and I told my future hubby that it better be my last!!! LOL

When we got married both DH and I were 24 (we're both 25 now). It was both of our first marriage. Count me in as another bride who looks VERY young--I got lots of strange looks at the bridal shops, LOL (I get told I look 14).

We chose Disney because I have always loved it. To be completely honest, I wasn't sure I wanted a Disney wedding at first because I wanted a "serious" ceremony with no Disney elements. I stumbled across a web page of a Disney bride and realized that Disney could do just what I wanted and save any Disney elements for the reception. We actually ended up having very little "disneyfied" items, and Disney did a terrific job with it. Plus, where else can your guests experience an Illuminations party? In the end we are so happy that we chose to be a FTW couple. :)

we'll both be 22 when were married, 21 now. this will be our first marriage (& last for us :)

we decided on disney for our dream destination wedding because it has so much to offer. the romance & elegance of the wedding venues & extras, the fun of the themeparks & recreation and we liked that it will be a 4/5/8 day vacation for our 55 guests.

i've also been going with my family to disney since i was 3, i'm like PryncessChrysty its genetic. plus our first vacation together as a couple out of state was to wdw & we knew this was the spot. we wanted a simple yet extravagent wedding with just family not hundreds of tom, dick and harrys.

best of luck to all you dis brides to be & best wishes to those already down the aisle.

I was 31 and he was 33 when we got married at WDW 5 months ago. We ended up only have close family attend...about 14 people.

We chose WDW for a couple reasons. First one being that my dad passed away 3 years ago. Well, many people don't make it to a destination wedding so it seemed easier for me than to have a traditional church wedding that everyone goes to. Second, it would be able to be a vacation for everyone. Third, it just seemed so magical. We had never even been to WDW, but it seemed like the place to be treated like a princess: .

You'll have a great time!! Enjoy it. :cloud9:

I am 27 years old & My fiance Dwayne is 32 (my 1st marriage, his 2nd). He is currently deployed to Korea. He has 2 kids from his previous marriage (12 & 8). We decided on Disney because I grew up visiting Disney every few years & am in love with WDW, it's so magical. We are having approx 30 guests & all are staying at Disney for the wedding. Coming from a divorced family my Dad has never been to Disney, I have been probably 10-12 times with my mom & sis, and a previous bf. My Fiance has never been. He is also using this as an oppurtunity for a special vacation for us & his 2 kids (they have never been either).

It's so wonderful you have chosen the most magical place to be married. The wedding is for you and your DH2B, so enjoy the surroundings on your special day and be Happy!

I am not the one getting married (even though some day I would love to talk my DH into renewing our vows at Disney). My DS and DIL2B will be married in Disney this December. (I visit the discussion boards to assist them because they are so busy with school and work).

My son and I have been visiting WDW every year since he was 5. We are the fanatics in the family. He met his fiance (who are both 23) at Disney when they were in the college program. They were engaged at Disney and decided that only a Disney wedding would do. They will have about 50 guests at their ceremony.

Does it really matter how old you are? I'm 50 and just celebrated my 30th wedding anniv. You will be a beautiful Disney bride having a beautiful Disney wedding.

If it wasn't so expensive I would've had a big celebration at WDW and renewed our vows with a pretty dress, flowers, cake and all but alas, I opted for a dessert party in Japan and watch Illuminations. It was more casual, less expensive and still a treat.

I hope my daughter gets her Disney dream wedding. I hope I can afford it. If not, she'll have a small at home wedding and a Disney honeymoon.

Hi everyone...
Don't worry FutureAshleyDukes you're not the youngest person here. I'm only 20!!! My DH2B is 22. Yes, this is my first wedding....well I guess since you now see my age that was pretty obvious..lol. So far we have a list of around 80+ people that we plan on inviting to our wedding. Not sure how many will come, but most said they will plan a vacation around our wedding. We aren't getting married till 2008 though. I have 2 more years of school and I need to be working for at least a year so that I can save more money than I'm able to save now. Lol part time jobs don't pay to much! We chose to have a disney wedding, because it's my dream...and DH2B just wants to make me happy. If you notice my signiture, you'll see how many times I've been there. To me, I have to have it there. It doesn't matter how many guests I have as long as me and my fiance are there. I can't wait till my dream comes true in 2008! princess:

i'm 21 and FI is 23...we will both be celebrating our b-days while in FL(his is the 22nd mine the 23rd of may).

our guests include my parents,my 2 sisters, our 3yr old son,1 set of my grandparents, and 2 close family friends. everyone is making it a vaction.

we will be having a at home reception with about 110 guests 6 weeks after the wedding.

we chose disney because i've been going there since i was little and love it there. my parents are also disney vacation club members so obviously they had no problem with me getting married there.

his family isnt happy with us going there to get married, but it's our wedding and our doing what we want and thats to be happy. so NO ONE from his side is traveling to FL.

I'm 27. This is our only wedding and we are getting married in Disney for all the reasons you listed, but also because I really have always wanted to have all my favorite people in Disney at the same time! We are staying at the same hotel as my parents after our wedding. My fiance will be there before the wedding too...I'll be at a different hotel.
:)

good questions!

:flower:

Hi,

I am brand new to the boards, got engaged on April 9th! This will be my first marriage, and his 2nd (he is also 44). We don't have any children, but we just love disney world, and both agreed that is where we want to get married.

We met with a SM in November and got to see the Wedding Pavillion, and that was it! We will be having an Intimate Wedding, early next year. There are people that act like I have two heads when I tell them that is where we are getting married, but I feel like, hey, I've waited a long time for this, it has happened much later in life than I imagined it would, but we are so happy and refuse to let anyone take that away. Congratulations to you, and all others on the board, I will be writing back with many, many questions!!
