By now if I was going to WDW I would have had my dinning figured out. This will be our 1st time to Disneyland. We are on there 5 day dinning plan. There are some restaurants we want to try. They are Blue Bayou dinner,Plaza Inn for morning chartacter breakfast,Ariels dinner, Goofys Kitchen dinner. This is as far as I gotten. What I need is a couple more places to eat dinner or a late lunch. It is just 3 adults no kids for this trip. We eat just about anything and are not picky eaters. So what are your ideas. Thank you disers :)

Cafe Orleans in DL. Plaza Inn at DL (no ressies but pretty good food). Wine Country Tratorria at DCA. Tortilla Jo's and Naples in DTD. Napa Rose at GCH for something really nice. Storytellers at GCH.

There are restaurants and fast service counter foods for each restaurant in Down Town Disney. House of Blues, Catal, Tortilla Joe's, Rain Forest Cafe, Jazz Kitchen, and La Brea Cafe.

Being Grand California Hotel borders the DTD area you have fast access to Restaurants there. Should you walk just past Rain Forest you will see Disneyland Hotel with more sit down Restauants. Off to the left is PP hotel and again more choices for meals.

(If you are in tomorrow land take the monorail to other station this way you can save a few steps if say going to Rain Forest, ESPN, or a Disney Hotel Restaurant.

There are lots of restuants along Harbor. Check out DL dining on Dis Boards or Allears DL dining

Hope this helps

Plaza Inn is good for lunch too. Their fried chicken is really yummy and the servings are HUGE. Most of the lands have counter service and they are all pretty much the same, (not good).I would also suggest Storyteller cafe in the GCH. We love it! It has something to suit everyone, is beautifully themed and not outrageously priced. Look at the stickies on the first page and they have menus for all the disney and downtown disney restaurant.

Am I to understand you have the vouchers for dining? If this is the case I do not think you can use them in downtown disney.

I'm Fires_grumpy DW yes we have vouchers for dining we get 5 TS 5CS and snacks I believe and no they are not good in DTD. WE do plan on eating at RFC using GC's one night but that could b changed if something else interests us better.

Our favorite is Carnation Cafe' we enjoy the Sandwiches and Loaded Baked Potato Soup...yum!

Not many of us choose the dining plan, so I'm not 100% how it works. Do you have your vouchers with you? Are they still vouchers for dollar amounts, or are they now for meals in general? If they are still the ones for dollar amounts, make sure that to get your money's worth by spending the full amount - they do not give change. I.E. If you use a $5.00 voucher to get a $4.00 pretzel, you will not get your $1.00 back.

I'm curious if they are still the same?

ETA: I went to Disneyland's Dining Plan website and couldn't find the answer there.

Another difference from WDW is Priority Seating. You will need it for Blue Bayou and your character meals, but otherwise you should be able to walk up to any where else. No need to decide in advance.

I highly recomend big thunder ranch BBQ. It does lunch and dinner and is family style. The food was very good, the service was terrific and it was the best meal I had at the park the whole time (if you include amount of food with quality). I also at at BB for dinner and it was very good but I left thinking I could have had more. Breakfast at the Plaza inn with Minnie and friends was terrific fun. The food is good and you get all you can eat. You definitely want reservations with BB and Plaza inn breakfast.

We really liked Steakhouse 55. Although most you don't really need to plan way ahead for, when you do decide what you want, you may as well call. Even if it is a week ahead of time. At least then you'll get the time you want. When you walk up, you may have to get some odd time that doesn't work well for your schedule.

We've never used the dining plan or even stayed on site for that matter. 5 TS sounds like a lot. We usually eat at one or two TS at the most if we are there for 5 days. Although our hotel gives us free breakfast so that is one meal we don't need to worry about. You must try the pomme fritz at Cafe Orleans! (I probably misspelled it but I don't feel like looking it up. :rotfl2: ) I have that and a small salad for my meal there.

I'd love to hear a review of what you think of the dining plan and how it worked when you return since most of us don't use it.

I enjoy breakfast at the River Belle Terrace. They also have very good sandwiches for lunch and dinner.

We enjoy the Luckey Fortune Cookery in DCA for a quick bite to eat. Also Taste Pilot's Grill had good burgers, we ate there quite a bit when we were going regularly.
In DL we enjoy Carnation Cafe (only with reservations IME, otherwise the waits are huge!), Cafe Orleans (again we prefer reservations, we have been denied seating because they were full, we've also been told it would be an hour wait (we didn't wait) and we've been told 15-20 minutes so it really depends), Plaza Inn is good, Pizza Port, Rancho Del Zocalo & River Belle Terrace. We do not suggest Village Haus at all, the food there is not very good. We really enjoyed the BBQ at Big Thunder Ranch, it's very good, the food is plentiful and it's well worth the price IMO. If you're looking for a burger that's not fancy then visit the Hungry Bear, it's good but not great, we much prefer the burgers at TPG in DCA. Storyteller's is very good, we've never been disappointed with meals we've had there. :) We also enjoy Ariel's Grotto & Blue Bayou both very much. :)
We've never done the dining plan so I have no idea how the vouchers work but I do know (as a pp said) that you do not get change so keep that in mind when ordering. :)

My family's favorites are Cafe Orleans and Carnation Cafe. We always squeeze those places in our trips no matter what.

Cafe Orleans has a great salmon salad, the Monte Cristo sandwich (which I recommend sharing), pomme frites, and beignets. All yummy!

Carnation Cafe has great sandwiches and soups.

I would look at the dining thread.. If that doesn't point you in the right direction nothing will.. Be prepared to get hungry :)

Thank you all for your replys. All I have do now is figure whichs one to do. Thanks again :worship:DISERS ARE THE BEST !!!! :thumbsup2

I am interested in hearing how the dining plan works, too. I thought it was the $$ vouchers, but if it works like WDW dining plan, we may think about getting it. How did you get info on the dining plan? --Katie
