a little disappointed because........

If they are scared, then nothing will help them

I have heard this same thing from many parents, but it's not always true. On our last trip, my 5 year old DD rode Expidition Everest with us on our first day in the parks. It really scared her (the going backwards, the dark, the Yeti . . .everything!). And she was freaked out for a few minutes, but got over it pretty quickly.

P.S. We went back to AK later in the week, and she rode EE 3 times. She now says it's one of her favorite rides. She actually said she wanted to ride it again because "now that I know what's going to happen, it won't be bad".

Trust your judgement

I do agree with this. It's your child . . . you know them best. Just remember if they get scared, it won't be the end of the world, and probably won't disrupt your trip for more than a few minutes. If she gets really scared, take her right to the gift shop close to the ride, and let her fill a bag up with "jewels" just like the one's the Seven Dwarfs find in the mine. She'll probably forget the ride immediately. :teeth:

My oldest DD rode the 1st time when she was almost 3. She spooked easily, but begged to ride it. I gave in and she loved it. I was the one who was frightened! :lmao: She absolutely loved it and we had to ride it over and over again. SWSA and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride were her favs. The twins will make their 1st visit when they are 19 months. Not sure how it is going to work for them -- one is afraid of the vacuum :scared: and the other is afraid of my hair dryer :scared: . SWSA definitely will not be our 1st ride of the day. We'll start with maybe Pooh and work up from there. :rolleyes1

My suggestion is to ride alot of other rides first. Especially if this is her first trip to Disney. Alot of kids aren't prepared for the "intensity" & realism of alot of the attractions. It can be overwelming (in a great way!) for a small child.

Once she gets a feel for DISNEY..maybe after a day or two, then take her on it.

This is of course provided that she is aware of the witch & prepared for the "scary-ness" of her!

On DD's first trip to WDW (she was 4), the only ride she found scary was Snow White. She had no problem with HM or any other ride. She did Kong and Back to The Future at US with no problem, but she was very scared of Snow White. :confused3

My girls are 3 and they were not scared. WE did meet Snow White at the castle lunch and also at Germany in Epcot.
