A little bummed about MH at SSR

I'm not going to be at MH myself, and I guess I would be a little cheesed off if I was there, but I hope that I would be able to get over missing the pool for a little part of my holiday.

Delays and call-off's are something we get used to over here in the UK, and we have to be chilled about it. Maybe we don't complain enough!

For those going to SSR, either for the MH or not, I'm sure you'll enjoy regardless of any teething troubles, and I wish I was there with you!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it will rain during the MH problem at SSR and it won't make any difference, to those that joined DVC at SSR, I say welcome to the club. There are two things I would never do here, one is make reservations at a resort that just opened up, I would give it about a month. Second I would never buy tickets to an event run by DVC and without an agenda well explained ahead of time, never mind there will be surprises. I love that you all have such passion, maybe things might get better at DVC because of you members with such passion. Good Luck!!:D

OK, I feel better now! :cool1: ::yes::

I think the fact that nearly every DVC room is sold out for that MH week tells us that most members really ARE excited!

Despite the overpriced MH tickets.
And the pool closing.
And any other little "kinks" that may come along with the opening of a new resort.

Even if it does rain, we're gonna have a great trip! It's an exciting time! And the thrilled new SSR members -- and their DVC neighbors -- shouldn't let the grumpiness of others limit their joy about the opening of this beautiful new resort, ya know?

I'm :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc !

I hope others are as well. :D

LOL! Isn't this an understatement!! I tried to change our reservation today and the only thing available at any DVC resort was a 2 bedroom unit for 1 night of our stay (8 days). I think you've hit it on the head, those of us going are VERY excited!!

I am very much looking forward to it -- along with my DH, DS9 and DS4 who will ALL be attending. Yep, you got it, 4 tickets -- and we have AP's and still bought the MH tickets even though the AP discount was not that significant.

It's coming quickly now and we are definately excited!!

anyone else get a letter from ms about the pool closing for MH:earseek:

Given that there will only be 40 SSR guest rooms open at the time, I suspect the portion of those guests that frequent this board has already spoken.

Besides, if one got the letter, I assume they all got the letter.

I can understand folks being upset, but the letter does NOT say it will be closed that whole time, just "at times". I don't see how that is any different than cleaning, or maintenance issues that occur at all of resorts from time to time and cause things to be closed. For example OKW main pool will be closed for months while a new slide is installed. I have heard very few folks who are upset about that. They know that there will be many fun trips ahead with the new slide and pool area, just as SSR owners know that they too will have many years ahead of a great pool. I say, chill out, and enjoy. My guess is that the pool will only be closed for the time of the reception and the set up and take down for it.

Have a great first trip, and be sure to check back when you return, and tell us how it all went.

i am staying there and i havent received the letter.

If it's going to impact your trip, then by all means call MS and find out what the deal is. As described, the letter was vague to begin with. If some folks received the letter and others did not, it doesn't get you any closer to finding out about the closure.

SOMEBODY at MS should be able to provide greater details. Or, if nothing else, it should help reconfirm that their mailroom needs some SERIOUS attention. :p

I know this is rehasing and old debate, but I think wdwstar's concerns are justified. IMO, it's different from a cleaning or maintenance issue simply because MS has chosen to MAKE it a bigger issue. According to the posted schedule, Member Homecoming event at SSR is the luncheon on the final day. They could have said "the pool will be unavailable from 8pm Wednesday to 8pm Thursday" if that's the amount of time they needed to prepare, host and clean-up from the event. Instead they made a blanket pronouncement that the pool COULD be closed for portions of three days.

Obviously the closure is for good reason, but a vague pronouncement just weeks before checkin does nothing but create fear, uncertainty and doubt.

No concerns or debates here, i was just inquiring if all SSr guest were sent a letter or SSR guest that are not attending the MH got the letters. I am attending the MH and i was just explaining that i have not received a letter and it doesnt make a difference one way or not if i receive a letter since i am attending the MH, and probable will not have enough time swim anyways.

i can understand everyones concerns over the unavailable SSR pool during MH and pool hopping is not permitted between May 28-31. so, i cant see why SSR guest couldnt pool hop during May 25-27, at other dvc resorts and wdw hotels except for yacth & beach club and the animal kingdom. Go for it and enjoy all the other pools:teeth:
