A last minute debate

I leave for a solo DL trip tomorrow afternoon, and I'm debating what to do for my arrival night.

I don't know how bad traffic will be, but since I'm leaving San Diego around 3:30, I should be checked into the DL hotel by 7:00. I was going to hang out in DTD and shop, but I realized I have a big break on the next day (Wednesday, July 4) from 1 PM until 6 PM, so I could also shop then. I'm getting up at 6AM on Wednesday to be at DL first thing.

Would it be worth going into DL just for the evening fireworks and dinner, or into DCA just for MEP and dinner? I'll see the fireworks on Wednesday after Fantasmic, but from the balcony (so not over the castle).

I vote DCA for dinner(Wine Country) and Electrical Parade! Have a great trip.

if you leave DL on the 4th, be sure you will be able to get back in. I don't think they guarantee re-entry, even if you have a ressie. And the park may be full to capacity! And I would probably go to DCA to see the elec. parade... I love it!!!

I vote for FIREWORKS FROM THE HUB on Tuesday for two reasons:

(1) You won't see them as well from the balcony. Part of the view is obstructed and some of the effects will be lost. They really DO deserve to be seen from the Hub, at least once.

(2) If the wind kicks up, Fireworks can be cancelled on any given night. (Yes, even the Fourth!) For that reason, I tell people to see them at the earliest possible opportunity.

I go to DL solo all the time. Regardless of what you decide, I'm sure you'll have a blast!

I have to second this one! The fireworks were canceled both nights that I was there last time, so just in case, it's always best to try as early as you can so you don't miss them.

Hmm. I hadn't even thought about the fireworks being cancelled! Is there a restaurant I could book near the hub for dinner that has a good view, or should I eat at DTD and then stake out a spot for the fireworks?

I hadn't considered DL closing on July 4 either. A few people have said last year that it was the lightest day that week, since it was blacked out for all APs.... but now I'm nervous! Is there any way to predict whether it will close, or ask Guest Services if it's safe to leave? Does it help get back in to be staying at a Disney resort?
