A Helpful Tool - The IGNORE Feature

I have received a great many emails asking why the tone of the Dis Unplugged Board had changed.

I cant answer that, but I'm here to offer a suggestion.

One of the features of the Dis is the opportunity to IGNORE anyone that you do not wish to deal with.

Here are the instructions...

In the upper left corner of your screen is the User CP (control panel)

Click on that and you will see a list of options running down the left side of the screen.

About half way down the screen, you will see Settings and Options. The last item in that section reads Edit Ignore List.

Click on that and you will see a box in which you type the name of the member you wish to Ignore.

Click Okay.

It's that simple.

If the need arises....try this. It works well.

I'm hoping that this will get rid of some of the negativity and ill will and make this the friendly place it's been in the past.

I don't think I'll be using it. I'd be a hypocrite to want someone to listen to my point of view, yet dismiss theirs. It's hard sometimes because of the anonymity of the internet(I'm a face to face type of person), but it also has helped me to just let things go. I've found myself wishing to meet a few people in person to see if they were as audacious in person as they are online, but that wouldn't help....Would it? Maybe just a quick one minute round? Nevermind. Anyway, I grew up in a place where you "dealt" with people that P'd you off. But I don't wish to be that type of person anymore, so those of you that I've disagreed with has indirectly helped me. Sorry for the impromptu therapy session, but I just wanted to say that I'll read everyone's opinion, even yours Kevin........unless you disagree with me.

Thanks for the info on how to use the ignore feature. Maybe I'm just clueless or totally naive, but I haven't noticed the tone of the board change. This is my favorite place to hang out because people are so nice and supportive.

Then again..maybe I'm one of the ones that people want to ignore!

I can honestly say, I am truly disappointed in a certain poster here who also has never been to Cinderella's Royal Table. Just very disappointed and now on Ignore!

This has come in very handy on those occasions when the forums I frequent have been visited by a troll or someone who never has anything constructive to say. And after a while they seem to go away.

Do the webmasters keep tabs on people who have been added to a lot of Ignore lists as a red flag that perhaps that person is badly behaved?

My idea for posting this was to let folks know that they can choose to not deal with the negativity.

There is enough real stress in everyone's daily life that adding manufactured stress and negativity seems counter-productive and goes against the reasons for creating this board.

This should be a warm and welcoming place and I've decided to do what I can to bring that back.
