A happy day for gays everywhere!

Wow! Finally! :thumbsup2

I'm curious though...I've always wondered this...if California makes it legal, what happens if the couple moves to another state where it is not legal? Would it carry over because it was legal in the state they were married in?

YAY! :thumbsup2

Us Brits were waiting for you to cotton on! It great!

If whoever wants to celebrate being a couple, then go right ahead, just let me have some of the cake! :lmao:

Nice of California to join us. What took so long? :goodvibes

I wondered about this too. If other marriages are recognized I dont see why not. Isnt that why people from out of state tried to come to california to get married before in 2004?

I love to see people in love together and happy. I love cake. I welcome all invitations. I am a 44 year old female. If you are getting married and serving cake, I would love to join in the celebration. If needed, I can be the Brides Maid, Attendent, Mother/Sister/Cousin/Aunt/BFF/Ex for whom ever needs one. I clean up nice and have proper manners.

If anyone does not want two people in love to get married...Let them eat cake...alone.

In Massachusetts, it's recognized as a legal marriage, but only as long as you're a legal resident of Massachusetts. So, my brother and his spouse have to maintain a residence in Massachusetts even though they live in Florida and California as well.

Now that California recognizes legally married gay couples, I wonder if my DB and DBIL need to keep their MA residency. I'll have to ask him.

My wife and I (yes, we're both female) live in California and got "legally" married in San Francisco, Feb 14th 2004. Our marriage license became invalid just a month or so later after the SF Marriages were declared illegal. We also had a wonderful family, religious wedding that we'd been planning for a year, on Feb 28th 2004. So, we got married twice, neither of them legally binding. :confused3

While this is very, very happy news today, it's likely that the good news that the Ca. Supreme Court gave us today, will again be overturned in November as a "Defense of Marriage" statute will most likely, be on the November ballot. Sadly, there are a lot of intolerant people even in the beautiful, progressive state of California.

So, my wife and I are enjoying being able to legally call each other spouse today. :) We are also cautious about being able to keep this legal status for any length of time.

It totally baffles me. It's not like allowing us to get married would invalidated heterosexual people from getting married. I honestly don't understand what the problem is. Maybe . . . because it's not an argument based on logic.

If this is similar to civil ceremony's that became law a while ago in the UK then :woohoo: :woohoo:

I don't think so. Wasn't that one of the parts of the Federal Definition of Marriage act or whatever it was called, that states didn't have to recongnize same-sex marriages performed in another state? :sad1:

Well it is about time BUT unfortunately I think this is just in time for the November election "lets focus on this and not the real issues" sort of thing.

I definitely agree. people may focus on this and nothing else that matters, or be too wrapped up in everything else to care what happens about this issue. Either way its a bad time.

I honestly have no idea what the big deal is with gay marriage. Let me start off by saying I'm straight guy and I'm married with 2 daughters. I lived in MA my whole life until about 4 years ago (we got priced out of my home town and moved 15 mins away to N.H. when I was looking to buy a house) and I never once felt that my marriage was invalidated because gay marriage was allowed there. As a matter of fact it had absolutely zero affect on me whatsoever. Seriously, don't people have better things to do than to interfere with 2 people who love each other and just want to be able to express that?

Sorry for the mini rant I just don't get the human race sometimes...so for any gay couples living in CA, grats if this affects you.

Hmmmm...... How about a trip out to Cali for a double wedding, you & John, and Pete and Walter?????? :woohoo:

Yes, but then apparently they'd have to maintain a residence in Califorinia,
not that Pete would mind.....but still..... :sad2:

As a strait male I dont understand what the big deal is about 2 gay people getting married. Honestly if there happy with each other who cares. Why do people feel it is there position to impose there values onto others?
