Hmmmm...... How about a trip out to Cali for a double wedding, you & John, and Pete and Walter??????![]()

As a strait male I dont understand what the big deal is about 2 gay people getting married. Honestly if there happy with each other who cares. Why do people feel it is there position to impose there values onto others?
I'm really pleased that is becoming more acceptable. Here in New Zealand gay people can't get married but civil unions in New Zealand were passed into law in 2004. Civil unions have actually become popular with gay and there is a really high number of straight couples choosing CUs over marriage.
Stolen from Wikipedia "All couples in New Zealand, whether married, in a civil union, or in a de facto partnership, now generally enjoy the same rights and undertake the same obligations. These rights extend to immigration, next-of-kin status, social welfare, matrimonial property and other areas. Non-married couples are not however permitted to adopt children, although people in non-marital relationships can adopt as individuals."
I really can't see why people object - its not hurting anyone so live and let live.
Its about legal rights, you have so many more legal rights (in the UK anyway) being someones spouce than 'roomie'. Its also about discrimination, why do certain things have to be 'heterosexuals only'? There was a big thing over the word 'marriage' in the UK, so they ended up being called 'Civil Partnerships', i don't care if its called Marriage, Civil Partnerships or anything else, its the principle of the thing.
I dont understand why people don't want it? If it makes everyone happy, who cares? It also means more cake!!
I think you may have missed what i was trying to get at. I think they should allow it. What I was saying is I dont think other people should care about what other people do to make themselves happy as long as it doesnt hurt anyone. It's just rediculous that people impose there values or thaughts on someone else if they dont agree with what someone else is doing.

It's fantastic that the CA courts came to their senses! There's an occasional rumbling up here about legally re-defining marriage only being between a man or a woman, but it always seems to just blow away. Something to do with hockey playoffs maybe? (Kidding).
It only makes sense to allow same-sex marriage though. I mean, my "husband" & I haven't had a ceremony of any kind, yet because we've been living together for more than a year, the gov't considers us legally married. (But we received no cake - what's with that?) So how could the same not apply to a gay couple?
So if you all read the article, then you know that there is going to be a vote on this in November. Theres still a chance it can be overturned. I was watching the news last night and they had a poll of what people thought and would vote. 42% yes
58% no![]()
I really hope it is able to pass.
I come in peace....
I'm glad you're all happy, however, the fact that the court is making (instead of interpreting) law is, and will be, a problem for all of us. It doesn't matter on which side of the gay marriage argument you find yourself. Laws should not be made by judges. They should be made by the people through their representatives. The east and west coast court systems seem to be filled with activist judges who have forgotten what their job really is.
